Chapter Two

Whoa! 55 hits in only three days. And that was a short first chapter, too.

Davina: Thank you. I’m glad you like the start and I’m happy it was hard to tell who it was. That vampire twist was the main crux of the idea when it came to me. There are a few more clues below as to who it is.

He found that his body didn’t hurt. Well, not as bad as it did before. Instead, he found that he was unbelievably exhausted. He let out a sigh of relief. Perhaps Death was finally here to guide him to his end.

/……/

“It’s a miracle he’s still alive.”

“I know.”

“What do you think happened to him?”

“I don’t know.”

Was it just him or did the voice seem annoyed by that fact? Why would they care what happened to a mutt like him?

He let out another sigh as he was placed down on what had to be a cloud or an extraordinarily soft bed. A rough hand softly ghosted over the side of his face.

“He’ll be fine now. He just needs some rest.”

/……/

He’ll be…fine? But that couldn’t be possible. He thought for sure he had been pounding his fist on Death’s door

Who could this be? Was he a guardian angel? Could that be why the man would think he’d be okay?

Ugh. He was tired. Maybe he should just…rest.

/……/

The surface he was on dipped down with another’s movement. A cold hand slid across his forehead to lay flat across it. He shivered.

“Most of his wounds are healed.”

Another voice answered the one close to him. “And his temperature?”

Growl. “It’s higher than before.”

“If you were to-,” “No!”

His body jerked with the sharp shout. The hand moved from his forehead to the side of his face. The hand patted his cheek gently as a voice shushed him in his ear.

The person leaned back away and spoke in a quieter voice. Well, more like hissed.

“I will not do that. I already told you that.”

“But it would help him heal faster. Better.”

No. I won’t do that to him. He’s already been cursed enough. I’m not making things worse for him.”

“You may have already done that.”

Growl. “Get out.”

Footsteps walked away from them. A door opened and then shut. He felt his body being pulled close to the side of his savior.

“Life was never fair to you, huh mutt?”

/……/

He didn’t understand. He didn’t understand anything. It didn’t make any sense.

How could his wounds be ‘mostly healed’? The two strangers made it sound like they waved a magic wand over him and all the wounds were non-existent now.

Wait. That last part. Did this stranger…his rescuer…know him?

But who would call him……mutt?

/……/

His hands were wet. Wait, no. His whole body was wet.

He was in water. Oh, gods. His body was in the water and he was sitting on the lap of his rescuer.

His body jerked half a second before two strong arms latched around his body. By the grace of Duel Monsters, he was in the arms of a…a…! He whimpered as he fought the hold on him. A breath of hot air drifted over his ear as a voice hissed in his ear.

“Quit it, mutt! You’re going to hurt yourself even more. Stop it!

He refused. Even though he had realized he and the stranger were wearing boxers, he still didn’t want to be taken advantage of. Suddenly, his head was tilted slightly and a mouth latched onto his neck.

He immediately dropped his head in a submissive manner. The rough bite to his neck had instantly calmed his frayed nerves. It didn’t hurt that one of the arms had slipped down so a hand was softly rubbing circles over his stomach. He bit back a sob as he came down from his emotional high.

He sighed when the mouth receded from his neck, but jumped when a nose nuzzled against the same spot. The hand was still rubbing circles over his stomach.

“Behave yourself, mutt. You stink. And I need to clean your cuts”

/……/

Oh. He wasn’t…Oh.

Boy, did he feel stupid.

But again with the dog comment? Could it be Duke? After all, the jerk did enjoy putting him in a dog suit that one time. Even if he had apologized afterwards.

No, that couldn’t be. Duke didn’t call him dog names. Not since he slugged him that one time.

/……/

He felt a cool washcloth run over his arm. He was perched on the other male’s lap and was turned halfway to lean against him. His arm was held out by the other hand as the wash cloth ran over his arm.

The touch was light and gentle. His head was resting against the other’s shoulder. His body was shifted a few times as the washcloth was run over his body.

His cuts seemed smaller than before. How could that be? Was he in a hospital? No, that couldn’t be. No hospital would bathe him in a tub. With the doctor/nurse in said tub, too.

Wh…whoa! He let out a pleasurable whimper as the hand dipped below his waistband. The rough washcloth ran carefully over his inner thighs and member. He felt a rumble against his ear as the stranger chuckled.

“A little sensitive there, pup?”

He moaned this time as the washcloth came back up. No one had ever touched him like this before. It felt…nice.

He let out a groan of disappointment as the hand and washcloth resurfaced above his waist. The other hand came up to pat him on the head. A soft kiss was placed on the top of his head.

“If I’m going to do that, I want you fully aware of everything I’m doing.”

/……/

He was so confused. This person – this unnamed savior – was taking care of him. He could count on a hand how many people in his life could be that caring for him.

It could be Yugi and Yami. The two voices sounded familiar and the one did have a deep voice like Yami.

No. The other male couldn’t be Yugi. His best friend was great, but he wouldn’t have been able to help lift him from the bench. This, logically, meant that the other male couldn’t be Yami.

If it’s not Duke or Yugi or Yami, then who could it possibly be?

And what was with the biting? That was twice this man had bitten him. What was it about his neck that the man found so fascinating? And how could a single bite calm his emotions and so quickly?

The pain in his head was starting to intensify. He couldn’t take much more of this.

Ow.

Author’s Note: I feel I should explain something. The breaks in between the italics and regular text are the character drifting in and out of consciousness. I’m hoping this isn’t too confusing.
