Hikari's Dark Angel - Rewrite

When lunch came, Yugi's table was empty except for him, as usual. Which was why the petite teen jumped when he heard someone slide into the chair next to him. Yugi looked over and nearly fainted when he saw who it was.
"I apologize if I startled you," spoke the sexy baritone of a certain dark angel. Yugi just blinked, too stunned for words. "You looked lonely."
Yugi looked down. He WAS lonely, but if he told Yami why, he'd never get to speak to him again. The teen suddenly gasped as a tender hand brushed some of the boy's trademark hair out of his face.
"You don't need to be afraid. I heard from some ignorant fools that you were homosexual and for me to stay away." Yami laughed at Yugi's shocked face. "Looks like you've figured it out."
"You- you like guys?" Yugi stammered, hardly able to believe his luck. A gang of girls heading over stopped as they heard this.
"No. I like you, my little hikari," the dark angel bantered in a husky tone. The area around them had fallen silent at Yugi's innocent question, and there was a collective gasp as Yami bent down and captured Yugi's lips in a passionate kiss.
The teen's eyes widened in shock. His lips unconsciously parted, and Yami took the opportunity to deepen the kiss. The dark angel brought Yugi closer by placing one hand on the back of the boy's head and wrapping the other around Yugi's slim waist. His tongue explored the hot, sweet-tasting cavern of the petite teen as the boy began to relax. Yugi's arms snaked around Yami's waist and his eyes closed with bliss. 'Kame-sama, thank you,' Yugi thought, unaware that this was not what had been planned for the dark angel.
Yami broke the kiss gently and placed his forehead on Yugi's. "Don't let what others think of you control what you think of yourself, my little hikari," the dark angel whispered wisely before lifting his head to glare at the gawking crowd.
"What are you ignorant bastards staring at? Move it!" he snarled and all members of the shocked crowd scuttled away.
The rest of the school day went by in a blur, and Yugi was practically skipping with joy on his way home. Ushio wasn't anywhere to be seen and Yugi couldn't be happier. Until he saw the thug and three of his thuggish friends had Yami cornered.
"Hey, leave him alone!" Yugi shouted without thinking. Jounouchi, Honda, and Ootachi heard Yugi's shout from nearby, and it peaked their curiousity. They had never heard the kid stand up to anyone before.
"Hey, boss, da brat's mouthin' off ta ya," one thug said. "Wan' me ta take care 'o 'im?"
"Be my guest," Ushio said with a nasty grin. Yami's eyes flared.
"You lay one finger on him and you'll rue the day you were born!" the dark angel declared, his black wings exposing themselves in his rage. Jounouchi, Honda, and Ootachi rounded the corner just then and froze in fear. The four thugs looked at Yami, completely terrified, but Yugi bravely darted around them and stood facing the dark angel in a blocking position.
"Please, don't!" the petite teen cried. Flaming crimson eyes turned to Yugi and he shuddered, but bravely repeated, "Don't do it!"
The fire in Yami's eyes went out and his black wings vanished. The dark angel blinked, then sighed. "What should I do then?"
"Ya do dis!" shouted Jounouchi as the trio flew past the couple and each punched a thug right in the jaw. Three fights began and Yami smiled, taking on Ushio himself.
Once the four bullies fled in defeat, Yami and Yugi finally looked to see who had come to their aid. Yugi gasped when he saw it was none other than the school's top three deliquents. Jounouchi gave them a thumbs up.
"We got'cher back, Yams, Yugs," Jou said. Yami smiled.
"You're not afraid of me?" he asked. Jou laughed.
"Nah, yer one 'o us, pal! You too, Yug. Who'da thought ya had DAT kinda guts?" the blond teen complimented. Yugi smiled, getting the hint, and the five teens headed off to the arcade to solidify their new friendship.
