Chapter 2

Sara woke up to find herself in a hospital bed in the infirmary. She cursed herself for having fainted right when Yusei had finally kissed her. He must hate her by now!
“Glad to see your awake,” said the beautiful baritone that always sent shivers up and down her spine. She turned her head to see Yusei sitting in a chair by her bedside. “Sorry, I guess that was a little too much. I’ve never actually dated anyone before, so it didn’t fully register the kind of effect I have on others.”
Sara blushed with embarrassment. “It’s not your fault!” she cried, startling Yusei. He was shocked to see she was crying. “Don’t blame yourself for being so perfect! People would kill to look like you. Hell, I have to diet every day just to keep my figure.”
Yusei looked down, disappointed. “Is that all you see, the outside?”
Sara was shocked. “No way! You’re perfect in every way! I... I don’t deserve you,” she said quietly, looking away. She didn’t see Yusei’s smile had returned, knowing that she saw what was in another’s soul more than anyone else. He could also see into her soul, and it was very beautiful for a pure-blooded human.
The fact that only his mother was human is what caused him to look so perfect. His father... Well, he didn’t know much about his father, since he was only with his mother that one night. But Ms. Fudo always told her son that her father was the most beautiful being she had ever met, and that he had his stunning good looks minus one feature. She never said what that feature was, and he could no longer ask her either: She had died when he was 8 years old, leaving him to grow up in a foster home. His foster mother, Martha, was a kind, motherly woman who loved every child she took in as her own.
Yusei brushed Sara’s cheek gently. “You deserve me more than anyone else,” Yusei said quietly, making Sara shudder for some reason.
~*~*~
After school was over, Yusei met up with Sara to walk her home. He claimed he didn’t want her to faint again, but in reality, he was worried about the other girls and their jealousy. He kept a sharp eye out for such problems, and gave death glares to any he sensed had malcontent toward Sara. Every one of the shied away under such looks, knowing terrible things would be in store for them if they dared harm one hair on the girl.
Yusei stopped at Sara’s front door. He brushed her hair out of her face and gave her another gentle kiss. She didn’t faint this time. Yusei pulled out an intricately designed bottle, red with gold designs, and handed it to her.
“This was given to me by my mother. I don’t have any use for it, but maybe you can find some use out of it. I’ll see you later,” Yusei said, pecking her on the cheek and leaving before she could protest. He just hoped Sara knew how to use what was inside that bottle properly...
