You’re Not Me continued….


Seto went to his office and ordered his main staff in. Once they were all there, he addressed them, “Effective from today, my relationship to Yugi Mutou is officially over. Any calls from him or any of his known associates are to be refused, any visits to this building are to be blocked, letters and emails destroyed. If the media gets wind of this I want it played down as much as possible, and I will have no comment made about it. I need to speak with my brother, contact the school so that I might do so.”

“Yes sir,” said all as they left him.

A few minutes later, his land line rang and he picked it up. “Mokuba. How is everything going?”

“Fine, Big Brother. It’s been the most wonderful trip I’ve ever been on. We get to see all these famous places and have them just to ourselves, which is great.”

“They don’t let any other tourists where you go?”

“No, we get it all to ourselves.”

“Excellent,” muttered Kaiba.

“What was that?”

“Oh nothing. I’m just glad you are enjoying yourself.”

“Where are you, at work?”

“Yes, I’ve just got in.”

“Oh too bad, I’d have liked to talk to Yugi. How is he?”

“He’s… fine. I’m sure he’d be sad to have missed you.”

“Well, tell him I miss him too. He’s the best brother in law ever.”

Seto closed his eyes and his hand squeezed the phone tightly. “I have to go, Mokuba. I’ll talk to you again in a few days.”

“Sure, bro. Love you.”

“Love you too, Mokuba.”

They both hung up and Kaiba took a deep breath. He had just lied to his brother, but he knew if he hadn’t then he might want to come home. Kaiba felt his brother was very safe on the escorted school trip he was on. There were too many other important young people on the trip with him for the security to not be top notch.

He also hoped he was doing the right thing.

Yami was scared. He had seen Yugi like this two years ago. Quiet, hardly eating, depressed, and the same person was responsible. He had tried to call Kaiba, but all calls were blocked. Going to the Kaiba Corp building only got him kicked out. He could not get anywhere near the place.

He wondered if Kaiba had panicked in some way over the guys that had raped him. But they were still in jail and still had a number of years to go, and the prison was sure that none of them had made any threats against Kaiba. They had been caught on drug charges and the rape charges came out later. So there seemed to be no reason for Kaiba’s behavior.

Yugi needed help though, and Yami turned to the man that had saved him and Kaiba two years ago. Doctor Toriyama. He learned that the man had retired, but he was able to track him down.

The first thing the doctor did was try to get in to see Kaiba too, but he was also banned. So he came to see Yugi at the shop.

Yugi didn’t like to leave his room much, just as in the past. It was there that the doctor found his former patient, lying on his side not caring what went on outside his room.

“Hello Yugi, this was not where I hoped to find you.”

Yugi turned away; he did not want to look at the doctor.

“Yugi, after all the work I put in on you, this is disappointing.”

“Your work didn’t last long. Two years and it’s all over for me.”

“So what, you want to kill yourself again? Didn’t you promise you would not?”

Yugi turned back angrily, tears running down his thin face. “I promised him, and he dumped me. He never even told me what I did wrong. Why…” He lost it then, the pain too much for him to handle again. He curled into himself and cried.

The doctor came over to him and held him. “Who ever said you did anything wrong?”

“I must have.”

“Why? Because he decided he didn’t want you? You of all people changed him. You made him feel again. You made him care. Why would he suddenly change?”

“But he did.”

“So explain to me what you did wrong.”

“That’s just it, I can’t figure it out,” Yugi wiped at his tears. “We made… we had made love like usual, he went to work, I got up and got told to leave.”

“Made love as usual?”

“Seto made love to me at least twice a day for our entire relationship,” answered Yugi.

The doctor nodded, “So we can rule that out. What about love?”

“Love?”

“Did he still tell you that he loved you?”

“Yes.”

“And do you think he meant it?”

Yugi hesitated. “I believed him.” But he lowered his head.

“Yami says you are withdrawing again and that you’re not eating properly. What happened two years ago huh? Do you want to die again?”

“What’s there left for me?”

“So we are back to there again. Let me see, there’s your Grandfather, your friends, Yami.”

Yugi buried his face again.

“Yami is worried about you Yugi, that’s why he asked me to come and see you. I don’t know what happened either. None of us can get near Seto, we have no answers either. But we are here for you. Don’t go back to that place you were before. You didn’t want to end up in an institution then, and I’m sure you don’t want to now.”

Yugi shook his head.

“I didn’t think so. I am going to get Yami to bring you in some food, and I want you to eat it. I will be staying in town to make sure you get better, okay?”

Yugi nodded without answering. The doctor got up and left a few minutes later Yami came in with food. He was glad the doctor had gotten Yugi to try and eat again. He stayed with his heartbroken friend until he had had enough of the food, and left him to sleep. The doctor said he would continue to check on Yugi and Yami was grateful for that. There wasn’t much else he could do for now.

He had his own anger at Kaiba to deal with. He had warned Kaiba not to hurt Yugi and now he had. It was time to do something about that.

He picked up the phone and made a call, “Bakura, when you get this message call me back. It’s urgent.”

“You wanted me here, so I’m here. What is so urgent as to call me away from my Hikari?”

“I need someone to look into something for me, and you Thief, should be good at digging things up.”

“Ancient history again… Whatever. Why don’t you just hire a P.I. that’s what they do nowadays.”

“Because a P.I. would be noticed and I don’t want that. Yugi is home with me, Kaiba dumped him and I need to know what is going on, because I know that something is.”

“Why bother? I know you wanted your Hikari badly before he got together with Kaiba. He’s yours for the taking, and if you ask me it’s the natural order of things. Look at me and Ryou, that little bugger’s love for me turned me into a human being again, not a power hungry monster. My talents have a place now; we make a living with them in his field of archaeology. You shouldn’t have let that rich bastard take your Hikari from you.”

“I didn’t let anything happen. Yugi fell in love with him when they shared an experience together, you weren’t here you wouldn’t understand… Still, I warned Kaiba not to hurt Yugi and he has, so I need to find out what is going on, why he suddenly dumped Yugi without warning.”

“Without warning?”

“He was asked to leave, even after… sharing … with Kaiba, no reason given. Just that he was to leave and not come back.”

“Sharing? You mean he fucked him then left him?”

Yami simply nodded.

“Well that doesn’t make sense. All right, I see what I can do. You don’t want me to hurt him do you?”

“No, that is a pleasure I have reserved for myself.”

Bakura smiled and thought, ’I’d like to watch that.’

“You’re looking a little better today, Yugi,” said Yami bringing in a tray of food.

Yugi nodded, “I’m sorry I brought all this back on you Yami…”

“Don’t you dare. This is not your fault. You have brought nothing to me. I would do anything for you, Yugi, I thought you knew that? I once told you that I knew you loved me because it shows in you; Mokuba told me he saw the same in me for you.”

“He did? Wow he never told me that.”

“Because he also knew you loved his brother and that his brother loved you.”

“I’m gonna kill him when I see him…next.” Yugi suddenly realized that he might not see him again.

Yami moved to him quickly putting his arms around him, “Don’t Yugi. We will find out why Kaiba has done this, there has to be a reason. I warned him not to hurt you, and now he has. He will pay for this.”

Yugi looked up into Yami’s eyes, tears trailing down his cheeks. He hated seeing him so… shattered by what had been done to him. He leaned down and touched his lips to Yugi’s before pulling back and away from Yugi. “Shit… I’m sorry.”

Yugi was staring at him, as if he was even more hurt by Yami’s pulling away, “Please don’t be, you are all that’s holding me together right now. I – I do love you, Yami.”

Yami looked him in the eye. “But you love him more.”

“Maybe, right now he doesn’t want me and I need something to hold on to. Let me hold on to you?”

Yami moved to him again and took him in his arms. This time when he touched his lips to Yugi’s he did it with meaning. For two years he had regretting losing his Hikari to another, but he wanted him to be happy. He had been. Now there was a void and couldn’t help but take it. He deepened his kiss, when Yugi opened up for him. Yes, this was what he wanted, what he had waited for, what he needed, and he took it.
