Chapter 2
Disclaimer : I don’t own Yugioh. In any way. If an original character pops up, then I will own something.
Otherwise, my hands are empty.

Premise is relatively AU and would start up after episode 94 in the anime with a few tweaks here and
there. I intend to keep with the results of Shou vs. Ryou, the DD duels, and Juudai vs. Saiou, of course. I
just have to keep a close eye on the episodes as they show. Also, as far as pairings go I will say this here and now, there will be no Ryou/Shou. Not a pairing I can
condone. The same goes for Fubuki/Asuka, Chosaku/Shoji/Jun, Seto/Mokuba, or any other pair you may
throw at me. I’m not a big fan of anything incest related.
Yugioh Genex : War Games
Chapter 2by Manjoume-nyah Despite assurances to himself, there was no noise in the middle of the night. Why was Manjoume Jun awake in the middle of the night? If things didn’t see fit to break near the end ofthe year, it wouldn’t be an issue. It was closing in on the summer, to the end of his second school year.
For some reason or another, the heat and humidity were stifling and no amount of force worked from the
air conditioning of the Osiris dorm could keep the students residing therein from sweating profusely in bed.
A repairman had to come down in a few days to rectify the problem. Manjoume had discarded his long
sleeve and slacks, unable to withstand the clothes clinging to him. Now he was merely in his robes and
underwear. He prayed the drop-out boy didn’t wake up. The embarrassment from hell.Since there was a relatively pleasant breeze, Manjoume settled himself with stepping out to use the main
dorm bathroom instead of his own. It gave him a chance to enjoy the air for a moment. Standing with his
back to the door once he was inside the dorm bathroom, which was large enough to contain a shower-tub,
toiletry and sink with a few feet of extra space; Manjoume let out a sigh. It wasn’t that bad.The black haired teen leaned over the sink, looking at his pale reflection in the mirror. He wondered to
himself what the summer would bring, as he moved away from the reflection to relieve himself. Would his
brothers take him home? Or would he be forced to endure the months on the island, one of a few handful
left behind? Like Misawa. For some odd reason, when the prospect of going home was mentioned, the Ra
Yellow went as rigid as wood and a distinct dread had crossed over his face. Misawa always stayed during
the summer. Manjoume hummed. Part of him didn’t want to go home. But another part did. He did not
want to endure the possible heckling, but he wanted the attention. In any form he could get it. His father
and mother were too occupied otherwise. They could take me to parties and rub elbows with the big wigs...Maybe we’ll go to the Tanabata festival in
Tokyo and eat Unagi and Somen. Have some shaved ice with sweet red beans...Go to the beach and
smash watermelons...Finished and his hands washed, Manjoume stepped back out of the bathroom,
leaning on the door and closed his eyes. Thinking of the festival made his eyes water slightly. Last time he
had gone with his brothers, it had been the summer before his first year of Duel Academia. He smirked to
himself, remembering how Shoji nailed their older brother in the foot with the bat. That had been a sight.
But aside that, it had been an occasion for show, mostly for Chosaku as Shoji didn’t have to win popularity
to be top of finance. As he rubbed absently at the corner of his right eye, trying to dry it a little, he almost jabbed it with his
finger as he moved from the door and collided with another person. Manjoume cursed, falling back against
the corner of the door with the collar of the robe falling loose. Glaring up, he saw Edo Phoenix, steadying
himself as well.“What the hell are you doing out here in the middle of the night, Phoenix?”A sigh escaped the other. “I always take a nightly stroll...But the important question here is : What are you
doing out here in the middle of the night?” Edo looked up at the slightly older teen, face set in a stern
frown. His gaze left Manjoume’s face to look along the pale, slender neck and curve of the collarbone;
until the black haired teen adjusted himself appropriately. The Pro League duelist looked away, towards
the forest.“If it wasn’t cooler out here than it is in there, I wouldn’t have this problem.” Manjoume complained. He
caught the off glance the other gave him, adjusted himself and paid little mind afterward. The following
silence bothered him in a way and glancing at Edo, he wondered if the boy had thought about it, “Know
anything about why it’s so quiet?”“Actually, I had wondered about that myself. It started a few days ago. I can’t imagine it may be some
animal of sorts...It has more of an ominous feeling to it. Supernatural in a way.” Blinking, Edo glanced at
him. It felt like he was rambling, but it seemed Manjoume couldn’t agree more. Others had probably taken
notice as well. Pointing skyward, he beckoned the former Obelisk to look up as well, “And last I checked,
this island was not located anywhere close to a Pole, whether it be North or South.”Manjoume looked up. He hadn’t been looking to the sky much at night, but now that he was, his dark eyes
widened in surprise. It was thin, almost unnoticeable but now that it had been pointed out, he could see it
clearly. Something akin to the Aurora Borealis, but sparse in formation. The colored were dimmed and
washed out, but it was there. Thin streaks across the starry sky. He reached up and grabbed the collar of
his robe to hold it close. “That’s never happened before...”“Also started a few days ago. About the time the animals grew quiet. Not dead or gone, just quiet. As if
they’re waiting for something.” While Manjoume stared at the sky in rapt wonder, Edo glanced over the
other boy’s profile, illuminated by the outside light fixtures. Very sharp. Pale skin, dark eyes. There was
something Phoenix found attractive about the other’s looks, but standing on the lower deck of the Osiris
dorm was no place to mull it over. The Pro Leaguer shrugged. “It may be nothing. It may just be some
strange environmental phenomenon and it may go away, later at some point...In the meantime, I think it
would be wise to keep your eyes open to anything strange. Good night.”It took a moment before Manjoume realized Edo was leaving. He blinked slowly, watching the white clad
duelist return to his walk, stepping onto the path that headed into the woods. Turning away, he watched
him from the corner of his eyes before he could no longer discern the white of the suit, before it completely
blended into the darkness. In his opinion, Edo was odd. Juudai had said something about how the Hero
duelist went for walks, but he hadn’t thought he was serious. A glimmer of gold had him pausing at door to his room. His hand gripped the door knob, his other hand
holding the collar of his robe still. His brows furrowed, catching another glimmer of gold in the shade of the
trees before it was gone altogether. Manjoume watched until he was satisfied that it had been his
imagination. Then he returned to bed.

Fubuki beamed, strumming the strings of his ukelele. Life was finally starting to be normal again. His dearsister was back and no longer controlled by the madman of Duel Academia. She didn’t remember much of
any of it, like Manjoume. All for the better in the brunette’s opinion, there was no telling the sort of things
that went on behind the closed doors of Obelisk White. Fubuki was still certain that the cult was some sort
of harem. Aside that, there was only one more two issues to resolve.
Misawa Daichi.
And Kaiser.Or better yet, Hell Kaiser. He gave a lazy sigh. He’d heard Shou was dueling him. But as to the result, he wasn’t any wiser. One hadto hope for the best now. As for Misawa, all it would require was a winning duel and their best Ra Yellow
would be back. He would leave that to Juudai and the others. The show on the beach was by far, much
more interesting to Fubuki than playing the hero. Standing in the sands several feet from him, a man had
drawn a considerable crowd. It was a magic show or something to that effect, just from the smoke and
glittery light he saw once or twice. He made Duel Monsters appear, as realistic as it could ever be. Even
one girl gave a shriek because she touched one and it felt physically real, putting to doubt whether it was
illusion or not. He’d seen a Cat of Ill Omen. A Baby Dragon. A Petit Dragon. All sorts that a duelist could name off the top
of their head. Then he made them disappear. That was what bothered Fubuki. Not that the monsters in themselves
were gone, but how some of the observers reacted to the disappearing of the monster. Some of them
looked lost or forlorn, like they had lost a best friend or a piece of themselves before they moped off.
Some seemed confused, as if something unexpected had taken some toll on them but they couldn’t
explain it. For some reason, it seemed much more than a mere trick of magic. But Fubuki couldn’t jump
up and say anything, he wasn’t sure if he had a place to judge. The brown haired Obelisk sat up from his reclined position, seeing a friend joining the crowd. Misawa. He
had been intrigued no doubt by the rumors he had heard on this mystery person and was looking into the
matter for the Hikari no Kessha. Fubuki rather wished he was back in his Ra Yellow blazer and would
wash the white out of his hair, it was not a fetching look for him. Not in the least.“Saiou-sama senses a pocket of abhorrent darkness he wishes to be informed about. Who are you and
why are you on this island?” As Misawa addressed the man sternly, demanding answers and Fubuki stood
up, he stopped playing on the strings of his ukelele. So something about the stranger had Saiou intrigued?
That meant the Obelisk had to investigate now! Maybe there would be something he could take back to
tell the others.“Saiou...” A gloved finger touched his lips lightly, making the stranger look thoughtful. Since his arrival, he
had changed his attire. He wore a simple, belled purple jacket with a leather vest underneath. Purple hose
that ran down his legs to meet a pair of knee high leather boots with two straps on the sides. A simple
mask that covered his eyes was on his face, golden and purple. On his left wrist was the ever-present duel
disk and in his right hand he held a simple cane. He hummed to himself, the name seemed familiar to him
but he was completely unsure as to where he had heard it, like a forgotten memory. Instead, he settled the
boy with a curt smile, “I’m Mesmer.”“Yes, I gathered that.” Misawa snapped, his brows furrowed as he continued to glare at him. There would
be no dancing around his questions, he would make sure of that, “And your purpose?”Mesmer gave him a look as if that had the simplest answer of them all. He raised the cane, eyes turned
down momentarily. “To dazzle the students and duel, you dummy. How about I give you an example? I
can show you a rather cute little monster, if you like.”As if on cue, the students around them backed up, and Fubuki drew closer. Despite the brief look of
uncertainty they saw flicker over Misawa’s face, the Kessha member steeled himself, trying to appear as
resolved as physically possible. Mesmer gave him a polite smile, twirling the cane in hand before pointing
down quickly as an empty space right in front of Misawa’s feet. Dark grey smoke billowed up from no point
in particular and a small furry creature had appeared. It looked like a small dog, a dark blue scarf wrapped
around it’s neck. What decided that it was not actually a dog were the five inch claws and the tiny spiral
horn poking from it’s head and a blue gem on it’s brow.“Dude, a Milus Radiant?”“How cute!”“An Earth monster...raises the stats of Earth monsters and weakens Wind monsters...Yes, a very
impressive illusion, if I may say so...” It was strange how Misawa was busy looking up and down, he had a
hard time keeping his eyes off the beast. The dog turned it’s head to look up at the former Ra with it’s
large green eyes, it’s long bushy tail wagging from side to side. Misawa seemed for a moment tempted to
crouch down and start petting it like there was nothing more normal to do in the whole world. Then without warning, the small beast was enveloped in smoke again and it was gone. The stranger had
turned the cane about and pointed it at the beast again. Fubuki frowned, since it seemed Mesmer
banished the...Well, whatever it was, it was gone again. Some of the other students either chuckled at the
trick or even sighed wistfully, already missing the sweet creature.Misawa jerked his head up, the Obelisk could see a desperate unhappiness on his face which tugged at
his heart strings, but again it was covered by the almost trademark Kessha face of iron. Arms folded,
Mesmer cocked his head to the side as the former Ra balled his fists up, dropping them to his sides
forcefully as if he were angry but could do nothing about it, “That was...a very interesting trick. Saiou-sama
will...”It seemed the Kessha member faltered a little on his last few words before quickly turning away to leave
the crowd and the beach altogether. He was huffing as he went. It was odd to the Obelisk, to see the play
of expressions on everyone involved because when he looked towards Mesmer, he could swear he saw
something akin to remorse.

Saiou was curious how his follower had returned to him with his emotions in a great deal of conflict. Butthe report was given to him all the same, as well as a description of the fellow. Misawa bowed and was on
his way to recollect himself while his master pondered to himself. An odd series of events in the last three
days. The energy of spirits he could feel as a constant drumming buzz had diminished considerably.
Something was blocking it. Or was he wrong? Nothing struck a cord except the name of the stranger. He
folded his fingers together, looking down at his set of Arcana. He had cast the tarot after learning what he
could, to see what the daily reading would tell him. The card he drew seemed painfully familiar, as it had
almost been constant in said three days. The Knight of Cups, reversed. Overemotional, fanciful, temperamental, overrefined, introverted...“The Knight of Cups...” He drummed his finger on the card. Despite his better efforts, he could not
remember who he ever encountered that would fit such a card. After a few moments of contemplation, it
was decided that the enchanter was a nuisance to be dealt with anyway. On call, it was a few moments
before he had Misawa return to him, not looking as distressed anymore as when he returned, “While I
orchestrate retrieving the keys from dear Edo and Juudai, I wish to send you on errand to deal with this
Mesmer. Be as swift as you can be, Misawa-kun.”Misawa bowed, the corner of his mouth twitched, “With pleasure, sir.”
