Chapter 2) "Confrontations"
Cold, heartless, bastard, and asshole were the most common words use in describing Seto Kaiba. Mokuba was well aware of this but he paid no mind. In was moments like this that made him tolerable. No one ever got to see this and if they did they would understand why in Mokuba's eyes Seto did no wrong.
His older brother was laying on his side on the sofa with his head propped up on a pillow. A small trail of drool ran from the corner of his mouth to a small wet spot on the pillow. Cute was the only word Mokuba wanted to use to describe his brother at that moment. He smiled down at his brother and tried to decide if he should wake him up or just cover him up. Mokuba looked around for a blanket and finally noticed the bottle and glasses on the table. Suddenly Seto wasn't so cute anymore.
"Wake up big brother," Mokuba shook Seto. "Get up."
When he woke he could barely hear his brother talking over the thunderstorm that had started in his head. Some of the words seeped through though. He heard something along the lines of 'drunk', 'irresponsible', and 'disgrace'.
"Mokuba?" he said sitting up, "What time is it?" Being up was a bad idea but maybe it would be okay as long as he didn't have to open his eyes.
"What time is it? That's all you have to say to me. I have to come home to find my drunk brother passed out on the sofa and you want to know what time it is." Mokuba rarely got this mad but then again he never had to come home to a drunken Seto. Trying to calm down he spoke softly. "Come on lets get you to your room, okay then you can go back to sleep." He took his brother's arm and helped him up. There was time enough to torture Seto tomorrow when he woke up to the full effects of the hang over.
The trip upstairs wasn't as hard as Mokuba thought it would be. Once in Seto's room he was shooed away, Seto claimed to be able to change himself and Mokuba, believing him, left. He stood by the door for a moment to make sure Seto didn't fall down or anything when he heard nothing he made his way to his room.
While Mokuba was taking care of his brother a cab was dropping Bakura off in front of the house he shared with Ryou.
After paying the driver with the money he stole from Kaiba, Bakura slowly made it in to the house.
The short nap he took in the cab gave Bakura a head start on his hang over. His head was pounding, his stomach was doing cart wheels, and the light and Ryou's looks were not helping.
"So who was it?" It was not a question it was a demand.
"I don't have time for this. I'm going to bed." He tried to pass the smaller boy but Ryou was not moving.
Ryou took a deep breath and noticed the alcohol smell, "You've been drinking. You skipped out on me and our friends to get drunk and have sex with some stranger."
"Don't be dramatic. It wasn't a stranger, well not mostly. It doesn't matter. I don't feel good and if you want me to go to school tomorrow you will let me sleep.
"Fine," Ryou sighed and moved sitting down on his sofa thinking about who the mystery man could be.
"Why are you smiling at me?" Kaiba grumbled to his brother in the back seat of the limo.
"Oh no reason," Mokuba then giggled to himself remembering the sight of Seto curled around the toilet with his cheek resting on the seat. It was a sight he would always remember much like the way Kaiba looked now in the limo with black sunglasses on hiding his light sensitive eyes. As he sipped his coffee Mokuba noted that he looked about ready to throw up again.
After dropping Mokuba off at his school Kaiba had half a mind to tell the driver to take him home but he know he couldn't do that. Taking off the sunglasses he looked at himself in a mirror. He was looking a little better. Most of his color had returned though he still looked a little green around the gills.
When the limo stopped his driver hurried to open his door for him. Before exiting Kaiba took a deep breath and readied himself to face the world.
Bakura watched with mild amusement as Kaiba made his way to his desk. His own hangover affects were subsiding but then again he was used to it. Kaiba pulled out his laptop as all the other students either talked with one another or started searching for assignments to be turned in at the arrival of the teacher. Bakura was doing none of these things. The other day he had not lied to Kaiba he liked watching people and right now the CEO was fascinating him.
Students rushed to their desks as the teacher walked in. They knew enough to start passing the papers forward for her to collect. When she came to the last row which held Seto Kaiba in th first she was surprised not to find his perfectly accurate, typed assignment sitting on top of the pile of notebook paper.
"Kaiba," a voice demanded.
The boy in question didn't look up.
"SETO KAIBA"
"What?" he finally looked up from his computer to see his math teacher standing in front of him looking through a small pile of papers.
"I don't see your assignment in this pile."
"That's because I didn't do the assignment. I didn't have time, I do run a company you know." He tried to return to his typing but teacher pushed his computer closed just slow enough for him to move his fingers out of the way.
"Maybe if you spent as much time on school work as you did on KaibaCorp work you would be able to get your assignments done." The teacher, to Kaiba's and the other students astonishment, picked up the computer and put it on her desk as she made her way to the black board to do the day's lecture. "You may have it back after class." She shot over shoulder as she started writing on the board.
Kaiba huffed and slouched in his chair pulling out paper and a pen to take notes. Joey, sitting a couple seats back, had woken up just in time to see the entire exchange. Before he could stop himself a half snorting laugh erupted from him.
"If you find Kaiba's punishment so funny, Wheeler, you can stay after in detention." She didn't even turn from the blackboard or pause in writing the assignment. Joey glared at the back of her head. He quickly adverted his glare when she turned around unfortunately Kaiba had been caught smirking at Joey. "And Kaiba now that I think about it, why don't you join him." Protesting was going to be impossible. It was just one hour after school, he had survived worse. All that needed to be done was get the driver to pick up Mokuba and take him home.
Three hour latter found Joey entering the lunchroom but it hadn't found him any less pissed.
"That fucking Kaiba," His friends jumped at the sound of his books hitting the table. This was unusual, normally lunch was something that cheered Joey up no matter what.
"What the hell did he do this time?" Tristan inquired doing his best friend duty. Joey was going to tell them whether he asked or not, but this way he at least looked supportive. At this point Kaiba was always doing something to Joey at it was becoming old.
"Got me fucking detention, that’s what."
"In all fairness, Joey you got you detention." Bakura spoke up from seemingly nowhere.
"Since when do you defend Kaiba." Joey glared around Tristan and Ryou to Bakura.
"I'm not defending anyone I'm just saying be a fucking man and take responsibility for your own stupid actions."
"Well who the fuck asked you?" Bakura was starting to get on his nerves and was beginning to remind him of Kaiba.
"You know what, no one asked me. See you in detention." Picking up his half eaten lunch he stalked away to a nearby table. Everyone watched him, not because he left but because he went to sit at the same table Kaiba was sitting at.
"So you got the mutt detention not to mention yourself," Bakura slipped in to a chair facing Kaiba.
"I did nothing of the sort," Kaiba was typing away on his computer as his homemade lunch lay forgotten next to him. Bakura eyed it jealously comparing it to his school made lunch. Reaching over he picked up the chopsticks and stole a piece of sushi. He tried to bring it to his mouth but Kaiba's look stopped him. "What are you doing, eat your own damn lunch."
Rethinking his strategy he dared a look over to his former location to see his friends staring at the two boys. "I wasn't going to eat your lunch, I was just going to feed you." He moved the sushi towards Kaiba, "Both of your hands are busy." Of course it wasn't true, he had every intention of eating it himself. It would be far more gratifying to have Yami and co watch him feed Kaiba. Gently nodding his head to the side he hoped Kaiba would follow his glance.
Confused at first Kaiba didn't know what to make of the head nodding but then noticed how popular they had become to the other table. Leaning forward he curled his tongue around the morsel of food pulling it from the chopsticks into his mouth. The look on Bakura's face was a mixture of surprise and lust. Kaiba loved it but was sorry he couldn't see the looks on the other's faces.
Bakura let a breath of air he didn't know he was holding and squeaked out, "God that was hot. It never stops amazing me the uses for the human tongue. Maybe you would like to try it out on me next time." Kaiba simply raised an eye brow and started collecting his things.
"Here you can have the rest," He pushed the box closer to Bakura and stood to leave.
"See you in detention," He called to Kaiba's retreating form as he delved into the delicious meal.
Naturally all of them would have liked to be anywhere but there. Gardner looked out over the students before him. Starting a roll call he set out to make sure all the usual suspects were present and accounted for.
"Well lets see who do we have. Mark and Terry, of course, how hard is it to not talk during Mr. James' class?" Both boys shrugged. "Wheeler, took a class nap again I see."
"Among other things," he mumbled under his breath shooting Kaiba a dirty look, still blaming him for his current situation.
"And of coarse Bakura," In response Bakura simply gave Gardner the finger to which he replied, "With that I'll see you tomorrow after class," Bakura rolled his eyes. "So last but not least the great Seto Kaiba in the presence of us mere mortals, how privileged we are. Now that’s all of you and you know the drill. You can read, work on home work, or stare into space just don't sleep, talk, or bother me. I'll be in my office." Leaving the boys alone he went to his office.
Bakura moved from his seat to sit next to Kaiba. "Hey Tomorrow's Saturday and I have to go to some club place with Ryou and Yugi and them. You should come and keep me company."
"Are you asking me out on a date?" Kaiba looked over and the blond.
"No, but if you have nothing better to day, it would shock the shit out of those guys seeing us hanging out somewhere other than school."
Kaiba sighed, "If you leave me alone for the rest of the day I'll at least think about it."
"Yeah I can do that," They spent the rest of the time in silence simply waiting for the hour to pass. When they were finally allowed to leave Joey eyed the two suspiciously. He knew either Bakura or Kaiba or both were up to something. It was just to strange for them to suddenly become so buddy buddy. He would talk to Yami about it.
A/N: Sorry it took so long. This chapter is still boring. Mostly it is a device to get the characters to the point I need them to be at. In the next chapter everyone goes clubbing and Kaiba and Bakura make a deal concerning Yami. Hopefully it gets more exciting so here is a sneak peek.
"Beautiful, ain't he?" a low voice whispered in his ear. He had been to distracted by Kaiba to notice Bakura sneak up behind him. "He's a spitting image of Priest Seto except for that white skin, but hey we can't all stay so tan through the ages like you," Bakura rubbed his hand down Yami's bare arm.
