Summary: Sequel to Hunger.
Though he’s always there to sate Jou’s hunger, Seto finds himself facing
a thirst of his own.
Jou walked into school at his normal time; nearly late.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> He checked his wrist, realizing belatedly
that he’d left his watch on the bathroom sink.
“Jou!” he heard shouted behind him.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> He slowed his pace as he allowed Honda to
catch up, and glanced up at the school to check the time on the clock.
“Where the hell have you been, Jou?style='mso-spacerun:yes'> I tried to get a hold of you all night long
and you never answered your damn phone!
If you didn’t show up today I was going to call the police and have that
son of a bitch arrested.”
Honda paused in his tirade when he noticed Jou’s attention
was focused on something else. He looked
up, following Jou’s line of sight, to where Kaiba stood.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> “What the hell do you want?” Honda hissed
venomously.
Seto momentarily contemplated saying ‘Your best friend,’ but
then thought better of it. “It doesn’t
concern you,” he said softly. He didn’t
want to bite the brunette’s head off; not in front of Jounouchi.
“Let it go Honda, kay?”
“Jou, what the hell?”
“I said let it go,” Jou repeated, finally taking his eyes
off Kaiba to give Honda a look. Honda’s
eyes narrowed and he glared, but snapped his mouth shut.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> He also planted his right foot, turning his
attention on Kaiba and making it obvious that he didn’t intend to move.
Seto stared at the offending Honda for a long moment, and
realized he didn’t have time to power him down with a look; he heard a bell
ring in the distance.
“Are you busy tonight?” he asked, looking at Jounouchi.
Jou blinked, Kaiba once again taking him by surprise.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> “Aren’t you afraid to seem desperate?” he blurted
out before he could help it.
Seto paused, caught of guard by Jounouchi’s reply.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> He considered it a moment.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> “Do I?” he asked, a smile tugging at the
corner of his lips. He tried to ignore
Honda, who now stood with his mouth hanging open like a fish.
Jou shook his head rapidly, punishing himself for talking,
again, without thinking. “I, it doesn’t
matter.” He paused and considered
Kaiba’s offer. “I have to be home by
six.”
“Right after school then,” Seto answered, enjoying the way
Honda’s eyes bugged out. “The door will
be unlocked, but I should be there.”
Jou nodded, glancing up again at the clock.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> “Got to go, Kaiba, late again.”style='mso-spacerun:yes'> He turned and bolted towards the school.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> He wasn’t sure if he was running away from
Kaiba’s odd change of heart, or from Honda’s impending questions.
