Chains
FKH: Okay sorry for the short chappie. This one (hopefully) will be longer.
An Angel in my Father’s Eyes
It took me awhile, but I finally convinced my father to let me walk to school. I passed a few people who stared at me awkwardly. I smiled at them but they only seemed to enjoy whispering amongst themselves. Okay fine, that won’t ruin my good morning.
After getting lost about three times I made it to the school. All I had to say was, “Wow.” I mean, you would too. It was big and colorful. (Kinda like my dad’s vocabulary when he’s angry) I stood there and debated whether I should go in or not. Well…they were expecting me. Swallowing my fears I took one last deep breath and walked up the stairs to the building. (FKH: Are there stairs there? Correct me if I’m wrong.)
~* Normal POV *~
Ryou stepped into the building and gasped. It was even larger on in the inside. He looked around a bit before deciding on a direction. He only got so far when a hand threw itself on his shoulder. Ryou nearly jumped out of his skin by the sudden contact and turned to see the owner of the foreign hand.
“Uh….hello…” Ryou stammered in his soft British accent. “May I-I h-help-p you?”
The owner of the hand smiled and laughed a bit before regaining his composure. “You help me? Nah, I’m here to help you.”
“Help me?” Ryou questioned. “May I ask your name?”
“The names Katsuya Jounouchi. You can call me Jou,” Katsuya said proudly with his own Brooklyn accent. “So you must be the newt that’s supposed to be coming today.”
“Newt? Never mind,” Ryou shook it off. “My name’s Ryou Bakura. I’m uh….kind of lost. Could you tell me where the office is?”
“Sure!” Jou said smacking Ryou’s shoulder playfully. “I’ve been there enough to call it my second home! Uh…..hey what’s up with that weird look?”
“Uh….nothing!” Ryou answered quickly.
“Okay! Walk this way! Not literally might I add,” Jou said as he strutted off to some strange rhythm only he could hear.
After a short walk Ryou and Jou made it to the office. The secretary greeted Ryou and she gave him his schedule and assorted passes. He smiled kindly to the woman and started back down the hall.
~* Ryou’s POV *~
Well this school had a thing for halls. I’d have to ask Jou if I saw him again if this school had anything against the directionally challenged. I shrugged it off as I made it to the door to my first class. History. I always wondered why in Elementary and Jr. High school they called ‘History’ ‘Social Studies’. I mean couldn’t they have decided on one or the other? I have yet to find a definition of the word ‘social’ that even vaguely resembles ‘history’. Oh well. No use dwelling on it now.
I opened the door and immediately all eyes turned to me. Did you ever notice that every time a door opens people forget what they’re doing and stare at it. I mean, what’s so interesting about an opening door. I mean it’s not like a god or some other famous person is going to walk in. Well I guess you can always hope.
“Oh yes you must be the student,” the woman at the desk smiled. She stood up and dragged me to the front of the class. (No really she did. I wasn’t to fond of standing in from of people) “Class this is our new student. His name is Ryou Bakura and he just moved here from England.”
The class greet me and I greeted them back. (It actually sounded like I was in pain because they were all still staring at me.) The whole two minutes they were staring at me I felt like shouting, ‘Look, there’s a distraction!’ then run out the doors when they were all looking. Of course I was too scared to do even that. Hey, is it hot in here?
I made it through the first four classes and now I’m at lunch. The food is okay, but I played it safe and packed my own. I’ve heard some pretty bad stories about cafeteria food and the ‘evil’ lunch ladies who prepare it.
Anyway. I sat down all by myself at one of the back tables. I hoped no one would notice me and I could be inconspicuous without anyone seeing. Well…..that’s kind of the point of being inconspicuous, isn’t it?
My being inconspicuous was going rather smoothly until I was spotted by the enemy. Okay technically Jou’s not my enemy. I think there was too much sugar in something I ate. Despite my wanting to be alone, I greet Jou with a smile and all the people he dragged along. Let’s see one, two…five.
There was a brunette haired girl with a matching brunette haired boy, a black haired boy, and two muti-colored haired boys. Mmmkay. Apparently there names were this (in this order may I add). Anzu Mazaki, Hiroto Honda, Ryuuji Otogi, Yugi Mutou, and Yami. Just Yami? No last name?
They’re all real nice. They all play a game I was quite fond of when I lived in England. It’s called Duel Monsters. I was pretty good at the game. One of the tri-haired boys, Yugi I think, is supposedly the best duelist in the world. Yeah okay, he can expect some competition. I recognized them a little. I could’ve sworn that was Yami’s face I saw. Oh well.
FKH: Okay, it was only a little longer. Sorry I’m bad with long chapters. I’ll try better though.
Bring on the reviews and flames!
