Someone Enters the Room

”Why did you have to order so much champagne?” Seto glared at the man on his lap. “And why didn’t you think to have the bartender check i.d.?”

“Shhh.” Pegasus put a finger to Seto’s lips. “What could possibly go wrong?”

“Yuugi, what in Ra’s name do you think you’re doing?”

Jou looked up and muttered a quick “Aw, shit!” as he saw his worst nightmare walk in the door. Yami’s brows were drawn together in a scowl.

“This ain’t what it looks like.” Jou looked up at him. “I wasn’t…” He swallowed nervously. “I mean…”

Yami pushed him aside. “Get dressed.” He turned to Yuugi. “What were you thinking?”

“Mou hitori no boku…” Yuugi’s eyes were amethyst pools. “I’m sorry!” His lip quivered. “Something came over me.” A tear rolled down his cheek. “Please… Please forgive me!” He sat up.

“But, Jounuchi…” Yami sat down next to him. “How could you, Aibou?” Yuugi threw his arms around his neck. “Ra, what have you been drinking?”

Yuugi began to sob. “I’m sorry!” His arms tightened. “I didn’t mean to.” A wet spot was spreading across Yami’s shoulder.

“You smell like you drank a whole winery.” Yami hugged him. “Why did you do it, Yuugi?”

“I… I don’t know…” Yuugi sniffled.

“Is it me?” Yami’s voice was sorrowful. “Don’t I please you?” He stared tragically ahead, looking straight into Jou’s face without seeing him. “Am I…” He sighed. “Am I not a good lover, Aibou?”

Yuugi started sobbing again. “Don’t say that!” He squeezed Yami’s neck tighter.

Yami raised the boy’s chin and gently wiped the tears away. Jou took the opportunity to zip his pants and head for the door. “I know I’m not.” Yami’s voice was resigned. “I cannot hope to satisfy you for long.” He gave a deep sigh. “We did things differently in Egypt.”

Jou opened the door quietly. “Would you like me to go away, Yuugi?” Yami pushed Jou aside.

“No!” Yuugi threw himself at Yami, missed, and landed on Jou, who fell heavily. “Don’t go!” Now he was kneeling on his stomach. “I love you!” He grabbed for Yami’s ankles.

“Do you?” Yami freed one foot. “What about Jounuchi?”

Jou could feel his kidneys being squashed into his lower intestine. “He means nothing!” Yuugi cried. He wondered how many people had been killed this way. “Only you…”

Yami dropped to the floor, barely missing Jou’s right arm. “Yuugi, do you mean that?” He took the boy in his arms.

“Oh so much!” Yuugi gave a sniffle.

Yami’s hold tightened. “I love you, Aibou!” Jou tried to pull himself loose, earning a quick glare.

“Hey,” he protested, “Ya mind letting me up, here?”

“You are everything to me.” Yami kissed Yuugi.

“Can ya let me get up?”

“Me too!” Yuugi’s voice was happy.

“Hey,” Jou squirmed a little. “There’s someone down here, remember?”

“Be quiet.” Yami gave him a quick whack across the ear. “This is the least you can do after betraying a friend’s trust.” He went back to kissing Yuugi.
