Chapter Two
by Ravenx
A small white haired boy sits in the middle of a large field of red and violet flowers. The sweet fragrance from the buds floats across the breezy air. A small white rabbit lays against the boy’s chest, fast asleep in the comforting and warm arms that surround it. A light rustling of grass is the only indication of another presence in the field, looking up the white haired boy smiles as a pale blonde sits in front of him.
“Quel re, Malik.”
“Quel re, Ryou.”
“What are you doing out here? I thought you were with Joey?”
“I was until Tristian decided to show up and start wooing our friend.” Malik giggles as he reaches a pale hand out to stroke the sleeping rabbit’s soft fur.
“I do not think Tristian will ever realize Joey does not return his feelings.”
“At least he does not give up easily.”
“Do you really think he loves Joey for Joey?”
“I do not understand?” Malik stops petting the rabbit to move next to his white haired friend, leaning back on his elbows with his feet straight out in front of him.
“Do you think Tristian loves Joey or the fact that Joey is an elemental?”
“I am not sure. I would hope he loves him because he is Joey, a loyal and brave elf. But you know how our people are. Elementals are thought to be the most powerful and rare elves in the world.”
“Yes, and others believe that having one of us as their mates will raise their status in society. I still do not understand that.” Ryou lays back on the ground beside his pale blonde friend, his hands leaving the rabbit sleeping on his chest to fold under his head.
“Even though we kalina’quessirea are suppose to respect only nature some of our kind are petty. They wish to be thought of as great, therefore one of us as a mate would make them appear as so.”
“But would that not make them like the mori’quessirea?”
“No, wilwarin. A mori’quessir wishes to destroy living things instead of respecting them. Even a petty kalina’quessir would never dare to think of harming something or someone.”
“The other day, those mori’quessirea did not harm us. Why?” Ryou turns his head to look up slightly at his friend.
“What do you mean they did not harm us? They used spells to freeze myself and Joey, not to mention casting a spell on you so that you could not move for several hours.”
“But the spells did not cause serious damage. Why would they not kill us after their friend was healed?”
“They are mori’quessirea, Ryou. What they do does not always make sense.” Malik moves to rest his head in the thick, green grass, his hands resting on his bare stomach.
“Did it not surprise you how similar three of them looked to you, Yugi, and myself?”
“Perhaps a little.”
“It seemed that they were attracted to us.”
“Ryou, they are mori’quessirea! Exactly what are you saying?” Malik’s light violet eyes look deeply into light brown.
“I do not know. I just liked when…”
“When what? When they harmed the tree to get you down? When they bound your body so you could not move?”
“When the one called Bakura touched my cheek.” A pale blush spreads across Ryou’s cheeks as he turns his head to look up into the bright blue sky.
“Please tell me you did not just say that.”
“Why?”
“They are evil, Ryou. They love to destroy living things. Is that not reason enough why I am shocked at your admission?”
“If they were truly evil would they not have killed us?”
“Why is it that I get the feeling you want them to be good?”
“Bakura was gentle with me, even when he grabbed me to stop me from running. It was as if he was trying not to hurt me. I have never felt the way I did when he touched me.” A small smile graces the white haired boy’s lips.
“I can not believe you are saying this.” Malik shakes his head, his pale blonde hair mixing with the bright grass.
“Were you unable to hear while the spell was cast on you?”
“Why ask this question?”
“The one named Marik, the one Yugi healed, he said you were beautiful.”
“Really?”
“Yes, he wished to know your name but I did not tell them.”
“Good, I do not wish to have a mori’quessir know my name.”
“Even if he thinks you beautiful?” Ryou looks to his pale blonde friend from the corner of his eyes, a small giggle escaping at the blush forming on the other’s cheeks.
“This conversation is tiring. I wish not to continue it.” Malik mumbles as the two lapse into silence as they stare up into the sky, both in their own thoughts.

“Have you finally escaped my brother?” A brown headed girl asks as she takes a seat next to the tall sandy blonde on a large tree root sticking out from the ground.
“Yes.” Joey chuckles.
“I must apologize for him.”
“Why? It is not your fault he can not understand I wish not to be with him as a lover.” Joey moves a lock of his hair behind a pointed ear.
“Yes, but I have told him hundreds of times to leave you alone. He just will not listen.”
“May I ask you a question, Tea?”
“Of course.” The brown eyes of the female elf look at the sandy blonde next to her.
“Why does Tristian say he loves me?”
“Aiya, I believe I know what you are asking.”
“What?”
“My brother is a difficult person to understand, even for me. Honestly, I do not know if he only wants you because you are an elemental or because you are you. I would hope that he is not selfish enough for the first. He has known you your entire life, when did he begin to show interest in you?”
“I do not remember. Maybe when we were only a couple decades old.”
“Was that before or after you found out you were an elemental?”
“Before.” Joey lowers his head.
“So perhaps Tristian loves you and not your power.” Tea smiles sadly at the other elf. “I think the real question is why you seem sad to know that?”
“I feel bad that I can not love him like he loves me.”
“If it is not to bold of me to ask, why do you not love my brother?”
“I just do not feel attached to him. He is a great friend, kind and intelligent, but I do not see myself being with him forever as more than friends.” Joey’s honey colored eyes lift to look at Tea.
“Is there anyone that you wish to be with forever as lovers?”
“I did not think so until the other day.”
“What happened the other day?” Tea’s eyebrows raise in question.
“Me, Yugi, Ryou, and Malik ran into some mori’quessirea.”
“What? Are you alright? Did they hurt any of you?”
“We are all fine. They only cast some spells on use but they did not harm us.”
“Why would having an encounter with mori’quessierea change your mind about a lover?” Tea asks worriedly.
“There was one, a tall brunette with ice blue eyes, when I say him it was as if my breath left my body for a moment.”
“Are you sure it was in love and not anger?”
“I do not know. He pulled me to him and whispered in my ear. I felt shivers run down my spine as his sweet smelling breath touched my skin. I used one of my naur(1) powers on him and as my hand laid on his chest I felt heat.”
“From your power?”
“No. I never feel the burn from my naur powers that is why I can control them so well. And this was before I even cast the spell. It was like it was coming from his body.”
“Perhaps it was only his body heat you were feeling.”
“No, it was so much more than that. I can not truly explain it but it was like nothing I had ever felt before. And it is something I wish to feel again.”
“But from an mori’quessir? They are the forbidden elves, that is one of the reasons they live in the Dark Forest away from our kind.” Tea turns toward the sandy blonde, her eyes wide.
“I know. But every night since we meet them I have done nothing but dream of those icy eyes. I see them almost every time I close my eyes.”
“Joey, you can not go after this mori’quessir. You know that. Any kalina’quessir that gets involved with one is banished from these beautiful lands for all eternity for betrayal.”
“I know this.”
“Why would you even consider being with one, Joey? They are cruel to nature, not caring if they kill it or not. They only use it to their advantage.”
“I know, Tea. Trust me I know. I have tried to make myself stop dreaming of him but I can not.”
“I do not know what to tell you to help. But please try harder to get him out of your mind before something horrible happens that will force you to leave us.”
“I will try.” Joey smiles weakly, his honey colored eyes looking out to the tall oak trees around them.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
A small tri-colored haired elf giggles as he climbs up a large boulder, the hard, rough surface warmed by the high sun. His bare feet pad across the top until they reach the very edge, toes curling around the side. Light purple eyes look down into crystal clear water that reflects the bright sky. Bending his small legs slightly, the elf jumps off the boulder and enters the water with barely a splash.
His small form cuts easily through the cool water all the way to the bottom. Reaching out he runs his fingers through the sand that covers the bottom, a little fish with gold and black stripes appears out of nowhere to swim around the elf’s outstretched hand. Smiling, the elf swims forward until he reaches a stack of naturally built rocks, their surfaces smooth under his fingers by the decades of their life under the water.
Peaking through a hole between several of the rocks on top of the stack, his light purple eyes spy several round pieces of fruit with light blue skin striped with dark purple. Reaching slowly into the hole the little elf gently takes hold of one of the fruit, pulling it out with a smile. He runs his fingers over the smooth skin as he swims backward, his legs kicking him a few feet from the rocks.
Another fish, this one bright orange, swims up from a small crater in the sand and circles around the elf’s waist. The tri-colored haired elf giggles into the water as the fish disappears up the back of his loose, pale blue shirt only to reappear seconds later out the back of his neck hole before swimming away.
Slowly the boy starts swimming for the surface of the clear water, one hand holding gently to the fruit while his other arm helps to guide him up. As he nears the top, he stops swimming to cross his legs as if he were sitting on the ground, he rest his hands in his lap still holding the fruit as he closes his eyes.
The water gently breaks around him as he is lifted up out of the water by an unseen force. As the drops fall from his glistening skin his body stops moving as he sits on the surface of the water. Opening his eyes he smiles as he looks around at the bank of the water in front of him, the grass blowing as a nice breeze comes. Looking down in his lap he wipes the fruit against his wet shirt and brings it up to his lips.
“Are you not going to share?” A voice sounds from behind him causing the little elf to yelp and fall back into the water.
Slowly the elf comes back to the surface, only the top of his spiky head poking out as his light purple eyes look around the bank. Turning in a circle he gasps as he sees the tall form of the tri-colored haired elf from the other day laid out on top of the boulder he jumped off of. His black leather tank top and boots are nestled in the grass by the rock, his smooth, bare chest shining in the sunlight. The tight burgundy, leather pants that encase his legs are a sharp contrast to his pale skin.
“Mani uma lle merna?(2)” The small elf slowly makes his way to the bank next to the boulder.
“I only wish to see you, Yugi.” The taller elf smirks as he watches the smaller elf step out of the water.
“Why are you here, morier? This place is forbidden to your kind.”
“Please call me Yami. We do not follow rules very well.” Yami chuckles.
“You could get into a lot of trouble if you were seen here.”
“That is a risk I am willing to take as long as I can lay eyes on you again.” He smiles at the blush that forms across Yugi’s cheeks and nose.
“Why would you say such a thing?”
“Vanimle sila tiri.(3) I wish to look upon it more.”
“You say kind things, Yami.” Yugi moves to lean against the boulder, his hands resting on the top next to the larger body.
“What is that you have there?” Yami motions to the fruit.
“It is called duin yave.(4) It grows in the cool, dark crevice of the waterfall to the east. The taste is delicious when it sits in the water for several weeks. The flavors seem to enhance. Would you like to try it?” Yugi’s wide, light purple eyes watch as Yami moves onto his side facing him.
“Yes, I would like to try it.”
Smiling Yugi takes the fruit and hits it against the of the boulder until it splits open, thick, clear juices run down his fingers and the rock. The pure white flesh of the inside shines brightly in the sunlight. Yugi hands half of the fruit to Yami who takes it, lightly brushing his fingers over Yugi’s causing the smaller elf to blush again.
“Diola lle.”
“Lle creose.” Yugi smiles as he bites into the fruit, the juices trailing down his chin. “Both the skin and flesh can be eaten.”
Yami nods as he takes a small bite of the white, firm flesh, choking at first on the amount of juice released into his mouth before being able to swallow. He smiles down at the small elf as he takes another bite, this time of the chewy skin.
“This is delicious! The flesh taste like a mixture of raspberries and peaches while the skin is like apples soaked in honey. How is this possible?” Yami questions around a mouthful of fruit.
“We do not know. It is a wonder of nature.” Yugi smiles. “Do you not have anything like this where you live?”
“No, the Dark Forest does not hold such sweet things. After all you do not live there.” The taller elf smiles.
“Stop saying such things. You are making me blush.”
“But you look even more beautiful when blushing.” Yami reaches a hand out to brush a lock of drying blonde hair behind Yugi’s pointed ear.
“I wish to thank you.” Yugi says quietly, his head down, eyes studying the fruit in his hands.
“Thank me for what?”
“For not harming me and my friends.”
“I should be the one thanking you for healing my friend.”
“How is he?”
“Back to his old self.” Yami chuckles as he finishes his fruit.
“I am glad.”
“You are? Even though he is a mori’quessir?”
“I am glad because he is your friend.” Yugi takes the last bite of fruit into his mouth.
“You are very kind, Yugi. May I ask if there are other elementals besides you and your friends.”
“Why would you wish to know that?” Light purple eyes stare up into dark purple.
“I am just curious.”
“Only my friends and I are elementals. You will not try and take advantage of our powers will you?”
“No, of course not. It is just that in all the years I have lived I have never actually seen an elemental.”
“If I may ask, how many years have you lived?” Yugi wipes the juice on his hands off on his slightly damp shirt.
“Almost six-hundred and thirty. How about you, elle’quessir?”
“I am just two more years away from living two hundred years.” He smiles.
“So you are still an elfling.”
“No I am not.” Yugi pouts.
“To me you are.” Yami chuckles as he sits up, jumping off the rock to land gracefully next to the smaller elf. “I must be going before your friends come looking for you. I doubt they will like you talking to a mori’quessir.”
“Will I see you again?” Yugi watches as Yami bends to grab his shirt and boots.
“Do you wish to see me again?”
“Uma.(5)” Yugi quickly lowers his head.
“I wish to see you again as well.” Yami lifts the smaller elf’s chin up so that they look into each other’s eyes.
Licking his lips, Yugi absently leans up as Yami leans down. Their lips met in a brief kiss before they pull back apart. Yami smiling down into the almost glowing face below him. Slowly, reluctantly, Yami steps away from the beautiful little elf, he stops when he reaches the edge of a large forest and turns.
“I wish to ask one more question.”
“Mani?(6)”
“What are your friends names?”
“Why?”
“My friends are curious.”
“Ryou is with white hair, Joey with sandy blonde, and Malik with pale blonde.”
“Diola lle.” Yami turns and sprints between two large oak trees.
“Until we meet again, Yami.” Yugi whispers to the empty area, his hands reaching up to brush across his lips.
“What do you look at, Yugi?” A white head of hair pops into Yugi’s view.
“Nothing, Ryou.” Yugi smiles.
“Do not dare lie to us.” Arms wrap around the smaller elf’s waist, a pale blonde head resting on his shoulder.
“I fear that you shall be mad if I tell you the truth.”
“We could never be anger with you, Yugi.” Joey steps into view of the small elf.
“I was talking with Yami.”
“Who is Yami?” Ryou turns to look at his friend.
“The mori’quessir that looked like me.” Yugi’s voice is barely above a whisper.
“Mani? You were speaking with one of them just know?” Joey gasps.
“He dares come to where he is forbidden to be?” Malik moves from behind Yugi to stand at his side.
“He was very nice. I shared a piece of fruit with him.” Yugi smiles.
“Mori’quessirea are not nice, Yugi.” Malik’s pale violet eyes look around them.
“Yami is. He even thanked me for healing his friend.”
“His kind are known for trying to hurt our kind. You must not go near him again.”
“It is alright, Malik. I trust him.”
“What did you talk about, Yugi?” Joey steps closer to the small tri-colored haired elf.
“Nothing really. We just talked about how old we were and if we were the only elementals and he kept telling me how beautiful I am.” Yugi giggles.
“You told him we were elementals?” Marik questions.
“Not exactly. He saw me sitting on water and then asked me.”
“He said you were beautiful?” Ryou smiles.
“Yes. He even said I was more beautiful when I blushed.”
“That is so sweet.”
“Ryou! Do not encourage him.” Malik scolds.
“Why not? If Yugi says he can trust this Yami then I believe him. Yugi’s instincts are always correct.”
“But we are talking about a mori’quessir!”
“Calm yourself, Malik.” The sandy blonde of the group speaks up. “I too think we can trust them.”
“Why do you think this?”
“They could have easily harmed or even killed us but they chose not to.”
“I believe you have all lost your minds. First Ryou likes when one of them touches him, then Yugi actually talks to one here of all places, and now you are saying they are not bad.”
“You felt something when one of them touched you, Ryou?” Joey turns his attention to the blushing white haired elf.
“Perhaps.”
“Was it like a burning sensation?”
“No, more like my heart fluttering and my blood pumping but in a very pleasant way.” Ryou smiles.
“Why do you ask him about a burning sensation?” Malik questions.
“It is what I felt when I touched the brunette’s chest. It was not from my powers.”
“Seto.” Ryou whispers.
“Mani?”
“Seto is the name of the brunette.”
“Seto. I like the way that sounds.” Joey smiles.
“You have all lost your minds.” Malik sighs.
“No we have not, Malik. I believe we have found love.” Yugi states.
“Are you saying that you love this Yami?” Joey asks the smallest elf.
“I believe so. When I was speaking with Yami it was as if I was meant to be with him. His lips upon mine felt so right.”
“You kissed him?” Ryou steps closer, his mouth hanging open slightly.
“He kissed me for only a brief moment but it seemed to last an eternity.” A wide smile spreads across Yugi’s bright face.
“I am not believing this.” Malik shakes his head as he walks closer to the bank of the water, his hands rest on his slim hips.
“Do you think that would be what it would feel like if Bakura and I were to kiss?” Ryou asks quietly.
“I do not know, mellonamin. I hope that it does.”
“I am not saying that I completely agree with this idea of love but what I felt when touching Seto can not be explained by anything I know of.” Joey brushes a hand through his silky hair.
“Are you to see Yami again?” Ryou’s light brown eyes look to his small friend.
“He said he hoped to see me again, so I imagine yes.”
“Then perhaps we may talk to him next time.”
“That does sound like a good idea.” Joey nods.
“He asked me something else before he left.”
“Mani?”
“He asked for all of your names. He said his friends were wondering.”
“Maybe that means his friends are interested in us like we seem to be in them.” Ryou figures.
“Next time you might be able to talk to his friends.” Yugi shrugs. “Then you might be able to figure out what it is you are feeling.”
“You are all serious thinking about letting mori’quessirea come back here and talk with them? You do all know that banishment for such a thing is possible, do you not?” Malik walks back over to his friends.
“For now all we wish to do is talk with them. As long as we do not speak of this to anyone else we should be safe from banishment.” Joey places his hands on his hips.
“I agree with Joey. I think we should at least talk to them.” Ryou nods.
“Fine, we will talk with them but only this once. And it must be somewhere far away from the others. No one can see us with them.” Malik crosses his arms over his chest.
“I shall ask Yami the next time I see him if we can meet with all of them.” Yugi smiles widely.
