"Keeping Secrets"
Chapter 2
Keeping secrets…
Mai sits on Kaibas large bed and listens to Joey speak into the phone excitedly. "Hey Babe i was wandering if you wanna come watch me practice against a few of the gang before battle city finals begin?"
Joey says over the phone in his usual calm manner. "Ah when", mai reluctantly asks. "Can you pick me up from my apartment in fifteen or so?" Joey asks in a beggy voice. "Well okay" Mai replies. "Yes joey i will watch the duel aswell" she rolls her eyes. Kaiba smirks.
He wanted to tell joey he had mai and she loved the great sex with him but mai had asked him not to spill anything just yet besides she feared that today joey wanted to see mai for more than just a friendly catch up at a duel. Today was the day that Joey was finally going to ask Mai his crush out. She knew because he had always been so close to asking her but never quite had the courage and now that the day has arrived wen he does ask her Mai will have to say no and most probably let him know why she cant.. Seto Kaiba is the reason why.
Mai slips into her tight purple clothes and seto grins. its no doubt these two are hot together but how will the rest of the gang react to there secret affair? "i gotta go meet joey he's duelling for practice against tea and the rest" Mai informs picking up her silver bag and puting her cell phone back. "Huh that ametuer will need all the help he can get", Kaiba snarls. "Hey he's still my friend Seto" Mai answers back. Kaiba goes silent. "You dont need friends in this world Mai".

"Then what are we?" Mai asks confused sitting back down next to him on his bed. "You may find this hard to bebelive mai pretty but i have actually got feelings for you and even care for you which is somehting i never have for anyone especially past girlfriends". Mai's face lights up. "Really?" She smiles stroking his arm. "I guess i had a problem with people too for awhile and i trusted noone but since joey and yugi came along they've helped me to be more open and have even showed true friendship". "Yeah well dont get carried away" Kaiba replies. "Just because i care for you doesn't mean i give a shit about those losers". Mai kisses kaiba on the cheek before standing back up and heading for the door. "Guess we're both loners huh?" she laughs a little. "we got eachother who needs anyone else?" kaiba replies knowingly. "So does this mean im your um.. "Girlfriend?" Mai asks a little happily. in actual fact she is extatic. noone she has been out with was this good in bed and liked her in the way that kaiba liked her. Kaiba shrugs "what do you think?" he grins sarcastically. "i got work to do with kaiba corp so so ill see you". "How about tonight?" Mai asks licking her lipstick coated lips seductivly. "You bet" Kaiba grins. "remember no matter how many duels they have both joey and yugi wont beat me at kaiba corp island Mai pretty" Kaiba smirks. "Oh really? "What about me im duelling too", Mai replies gigling. "Well we'll see about you mai pretty" Kaiba grins. for once in his life he was actually kind of happy as weird as that may seem.

As shes walking down the long hallway mai stops as she thinks back to last night. She smiles as she remembers how gentle and warm kaiba was in bed. she suddenly gasps in worry as she remembers that Kaiba did not put on a condom as it was a heat of the moment thing besides he had every other night. Mai told kaiba that she was on the pill and she was for a while but she sort of relied on the condoms and now she was in a terrible position. "If i'm pregnant ill have to drop out of the finals", she gasps to herself. Also how wud Kaiba react? After finally admitting to her that she is the only other person in the world that he even cares about. (besides himself and mokuba sort of) Kaiba wud be torn aswell. She raced out the door to pick up Joey. Blocking out the possiblilty of her being pregnant from her mind and trying to concentrate on Joeys practice duel with Tea. However peering into the hall from one of the large living rooms was little Mokuba. The llok of shock on his face! "Mai and seto?" he asked himself surprised. He quickly ran upstairs and knocked on Kaibas front door.

Meanwhile Joey looks so pleased to se mai as she pulls up outside his city apartment. Mai however cannot really concentrate as her mind is preoccupied. Joey jumps in the blue audi 80. (the car that mai's parents ahd brought her)
"These are for you babe" Joey grins handing mai a bunch of purply flowers. "Oh joey there really pretty thanks" Mai smiles guiltily. this only made things worse.
Then at duelling practice in the city Mai cud not concentrate on tea or yugi or anyones mock duels for her mind was far away... What if she is pregnant?
luckily it was early days and she cud take a test this afternoon. "did you see me fight mai i was kicking ass" Joey yelled over to mai from his duelling corner. Mai smiled back warily. "Is everything alright mai?" Tea asks concerned. "Oh im fine tea dont worry about me". "Okay tea shrugs. "You practicing too or just watching today mai?" little serenity asks, joeys little sister was so sweet. How wud she take the news? "oh no im just watching today maybe tommorrow" Mai replies trying to sound calm and aware of whats happening around her. "oh well its not like you need to practice cuz you're so good at duel monsters anyway". serenity smiles. "Oh serenity you're so sweet" Mai says nicely.

Serenity then walks closer to mai and whispers in her ear, "between you and me i think that Joey may be finally asking you" she excitedly informs. "Oh" Mai replies pretending to be excited. "Well let him decide" she says. "He's always saying he will and dosen't". "Yeah but thius time i think my brother means it" Serenity giggles. "Oh well lets hope so" Mai replies in a fake expression of hope. At the end of the duelling practice Joey walks over to mai and offers to buy her a drink at one of the local bars in the area. "Mai there is something ive been meaning to ask you" He quietly says to her. Mai does not say a word just listens. "i think you know what it's about". "OH well joey hun there is something i need to tell you aswell" Mai replies. Joey looks really happy and anxious as he thinks mai is gonna say the words he wants to hear but he will be sadly mistaken. Mai takes a deep breath............
