I'm no helpless begar
I’m sorry if you feel the story is moving a little slow. I can’t help myself…It’s only the second chapter after all… I don’t want to rush it but I don’t want to jump right into it… Bare with me. Hopefully you’ll end up liking it…

Marik sat unmoving in the dining room chair, his arms folded in front of him his eyes pasted on the well polished floor boards. He didn’t dare look up in fear of staring at his new surroundings, he was in the dinning room of his new ‘home’.
He’d made that decision as soon as he’d walked in and seen the loved and well-kept house. It was nothing like the home he knew The walls were a light, yet cheerful yellow, the Cedar tables and chairs were polished and cleaned; pictures hung on the wall, most seemed like family and friends but there a few of flowers and beautifully painted scenery.
“Marik are you alright?” Ishizu asked, Marik didn’t look up
“Does it look like I’m fucking alright!” Marik snapped, he heard Malik’s sharp intake of bh anh and saw Ishizu’s feet shift in front of him. There was a slight pause before Ishizu spoke.
“Malik go take a shower, I was going to wait for Rashid to get here, but I think I’m going to have to do this now…”
Malik began to protest but Ishizu stopped him by placing her hands on her hips, sending Malik a glare and saying patiently:
“Wash your hands first, then go take a shower and prepare for bed.”
Marik waited for Malik to argue, it was only natural for a teenager to argue with the authority figure in the house. He began counting down the seconds and when he heard the sink turn on Marik snapped his head in it that direction to watch Malik. The boy had turned on the sink and proceeded to wash his hands –TWICE! – before turning off the sink and walking towards the door leading to the living room.
Marik’s jaw dropped.
“What a freakin’ wuss! What are you a two-year-old fuckin’ baby? You gonna do whatever she tells you!” Marik hadn’t meant to let his thoughts come out as words but there was no taking them back now. Malik’s whole body jerked as if he’d been punched and he whirled around, his mouth opened and closed like that of a fish but words were not coming out. Marik saw a brief, unidentified emotion flash in Malik’s eyes before Malik turned and stared at his sister helplessly.
“It’s ok sweetie. I’ll take care of it, ok? You just go have a shower and I’ll get everything settled.” She smiled reassuringly and Malik nodded. Diverting his eyes he walked out without a word. Ishizu waited until she was sure Malik was well out of hearing range before she turned her attention back to Marik.
“That was unnecessary.” She stated simply
“Could’a fooled me! He’s a fucking wuss!”
“Alright! There we go again…Marik, if you are going to stay with us I’m going to have to set down some ground rules.”
“R-Rules? …You are joking right?”
“No I’m not”
“I’m not a child! I d-”
“Rules, we all live by them… and so will you! The first and most obvious rule: no drinking, no smoking, no drugs, no sex.”
Marik guffawed “Yeah fucking right! Shit, you are one disillusioned lady!” he noticed Ishizu flinch at his choice of language and he laughed some more “You never fucking heard a fucking curse word before?”
“Rule number two: no cursing! Not in the house. Not outsi-”
“Fuck! Shit! Bitch! Cunt! Cocksu-”
“Not ever.” She continued seemingly unfazed by his outbursts, but Marik had been an asshole long enough in his life to notice when he was hitting a nerve.
“Rule number 3, you will not go out without my permission and you will not stay out longer then 9:25pm, no matter if it’s during the week or the weekend, without my permission. Rule number four you will use proper judgement before doing anyth-“
“Define ‘proper judgement’ that is a pretty loose term t-”
Marik saw her patience snap “I mean the kind of judgement a prostitute wouldn’t use!” Ishizu barked.
Marik was silent but he didn’t for a second break eye contact with her. He was not ashamed of what his life had made of him, or what he had had to do to survive. He’d do it again if need be. He saw the shame rise in Ishizu’s eyes for her harsh words and she looked away.
“I’m sorry Marik… I’m so, so sorry.” Her words were hoarse whispers.
“Good for you…I’m not.” Marik replied
“Marik, you’ve got to try to adjust to this life. It’s what’s best for you…I want only what’s best for you.”
“Nobody ‘just wants what’s best’ for somebody else. There is always some selfish need in it for them.” He saw a flash of something in Ishizu’s eyes before another emotion dominated her features. He recognized it as pity, he wanted reassurance…but there was none.
“Don’t pity me Ishizu! Pity is for the weak…Pity is what a millionaire feels for the helpless beggar he would only give a dollar to.”
Marik looked her in the eyes. “I’m no helpless beggar.”
Ishizu was silent, it seemed she didn’t know what to say. Marik had had enough.
“Where’s my room? I want to sleep…I take it I’m starting school tomorrow.”
“Yes you are. Your bedroom is in the attic. I figured you’d want some privacy…and the view is beautiful.” Marik nodded turned and left.
