Chapter 2: Emotional Chaos

Disclaimer: Yu-Gi-Oh! does not belong me *sob* as much as I would love for it to..It is the property of Kazuki Takahashi, TV Tokyo and Nas..I'm just playirounround with the characters. If they really belonged to me, all the male characters would be running around with only loin cloths, Anzu would be comatose, and Mai would be in a skimpy bikini……
Please don't sue. If you do, the only things you'll get are my student loans and dust bunnies from my jeans pocket...

Author's Notes: The fans have spoken! I will be continuing 15 minute Dreaming...First off, I'd like to say a big Thank You to all that reviewed my story! I love you all! It has greatly motivated me into continuing to write. I don't think my scribbling is any good, but I shall endeavor to continue to keep you entertained. Sorry for the long wait. Now, unto the show! To those of my readers who are following my FF8 fanfics, I will be continuing them. I apologize for the long periods between updates…I will be getting a computer soon, so I should be able to get some chapters out.

This story is set a few days after Yugi gets back from the Duelist Kingdom...in the first season. It is also slightly AU.
I will be using the proper Japanese names and written style of the characters.e.g. Yugi Mutou will be Mutou Yugi..Joey's name is actually Jounouchi Katsuya. This means his given name is actually Katsuya..but I will leave it as Jounouchi, or Jou. Hope this didn't confuse you..

15 Minute Dreaming Chapter 2: Emotional Chaos

One week later...

Yugi sat in class, chin in hand, mind miles away. He was staring out the window, but not really seeing anything. He wasn't really paying any attention to the teacher, who seemed not to mind that one of his students was woolgathering in an important class like calculus. After all, Yugi had completed the work and even got all the answers right. The sensei was content to let the boy do his own thing for now. He was currently busy trying to explain a question for the fifth time to some other students, who apparently had no clue of what the class was about. The sensei briefly wondered whether the students actually understood the point of coming to school.

Ever since they had gotten back from the Duelist Kingdom, Sugoroku had been very concerned about Yugi's schoolwork. That he was unhappy that Yugi was at the bottom of his class was an understatement. The situation had so concerned him that he had called Yugi aside one night, sat him down and had a long, serious talk with him.

"Yugi, I am very worried about you. Your homeroom teacher had called today and said she wanted to see me. I had been frantic, thinking that you were hurt. When I got there, instead she had sat me down and told me you were not doing well at all in school. What happened? You were a top student when you were in junior high. Was it the bullies? I know they have been bothering you a lot since you entered junior high school….But you never said anything, so I thought everything was alright…… Maybe I should have insisted you tell me the names of your tormentors so I could have a word with their parents or guardians…..No one should be subjected to that kind of thing while at school…..
Are you feeling unwell perhaps? This is all my fault...I should have been paying more attention to you. Instead I have been distracted with the shop and not keeping track of things like I should..." Sugoroku had droned on and on, expressing his concern with the amount of time Yugi spent playing games, dueling and hanging out with his friends.

Yugi had hung his head in shame and guilt. In his heart he knew his grandfather was right-he had spent unreal amounts of time doing all else but studying. His grandfather's actions had nothing to do with the situation at hand. He should have been paying more attention to his studies, but before he got the puzzle, he just couldn't bring himself to care at all about academics, what with his preoccupation with solving the puzzle, wishing for friends and dodging bullies and what not. Having his grandfather's soul snatched hadn't helped any. He had gone on to reassure his grandfather that he would try to bring his grades up and not let him down again. Now, he had to deal with doing well in school, dueling anyone that challenged him (okay, let Yami do the dueling, but it was his body after all) and dealing with it.

It being the situation he found himself in with Yami. Yugi was now finding it very dcultcult to be around the spirit of the Sennen puzzle. Ever since that night he had woken up from that…..that dream. Yugi wasn't even really sure it was a dream. It was too damn vivid to be just a dream. It was more like a fantasy. Just thinking about it made Yugi hot and bothered. And the way Yami behaved..it really didn't help matters. It made the situation worse. For Yugi, that is……

*************************************

Yami scooted closer to him, laying his hand on Yugi's. Yugi blushed even harder, though he did not try to move his hand away from the intimate touch.

Yami quirked an eyebrow. This was getting interesting by the minute. , Yami thought to himself.

"Well, Aibou? Are you going to tell me? I'm not sure I can help, but I would like to try. You know I'll do anything to make you happy. Whatever it is, I'm sure it can't be that bad…." Yami had moved even closer. It took all Yugi had not to move away. Yami's nearness was affecting him-making his body have reactions he thought he only got when he was with Anzu and when he saw Mai without her jacket. Just waking up from that unbelievable dream was also getting to him...

"Well..." Yugi had started. He glanced at Yami, who was waiting expectantly for his aibou to continue. "The dream I had..it was about..it was about…" Yugi stuttered to a standstill, when he notices how much attention was paying to what he was about say.

Yami's hand had tightened on his encouragingly. "It was about…?" the older boy had asked.

Yugi had asked himself silently.

Normally, Yami would have been able to easily read Yugi's thoughts, but Yami had taught him to block, though their emotions were still tightly linked. As it was, Yami could feel the turmoil the boy was going through, and it surprised him. He hadn't realized Yugi was feeling this way at all.

Yugi took a deep breath and decided he didn't feel likplorploring his dreamscape with the one of the main characters in his dream. Instead, he pulled his hand gently from underneath Yami's and smiled up at oth other, amethyst eyes apologetic.

"I'm sorry, Yami. I think it's something I have to deal with myself..."

Yami looked shocked, disappointed, then sad. He smiled gently at his hikari. He could never be angry with Yugi, and surprisingly, he understood the need the boy had for some privacy. He wished his aibou could have confided in him, though. Yami sighed and leaned back, the tension broken.

"Don't apologize, ore no hikari. I understand. But please, if anything at all is bothering you, don't hesitate to talk to me. While I may not have the solution, the burden can be shared and made lighter." The dark one stood up and began to fade away. "Why don't you take a shower? You’ve sweated quite a lot, and it might help you feel better...Warm water works wonders..." With that rejoinder, the former Pharaoh faded away.

Yugi nodded, and smiled at the spot where Yami had been standing. He felt really bad throwing Yami off like that, but there was no way he could have told Yami the person he was dreaming about was him, and in an X-rated dream, to boot. Yugi sighed and got out of bed. He looked at the time. 5:00am. No way he was getting back to sleep now….Might as well take Yami's advice, shower and finish his homework.

*****************************

"Mutou-kun...Mutou-kun!"

Startled out of his reverie, Yugi was brought back to reality on hearing the slightly irritated voice of Tanaka-sensei, their math teacher. "Hai, sensei?"

"I realize that you finished the homework, but it would behoove you to pay attention to the lessons going in class." The teacher frowned at him, eyes peering over his spectacles.

"I apologize, sensei." Yugi bowed over his desk apologetically. "It won't happen again."

Tanaka-sensei sighed. "Don't make promises yan'an't keep…." The whole class burst into laughter. Yugi blushed at the teacher's remark. The sensei turned to the class, glaring.

"As Mutou-kun is about one of the few people who actually did the homework and got the answers to the problem set all correct, I don't see as any of you have the right to snicker. Now, enough of that. Let us continue." The rest of the class murmured, apparently chastened.

Yugi decided to turn his attention to the teacher. It was enough that he had so much lost ground to make up, now he had the sensei pissed at him. He decided to shelve his emotional issues for now. Time enough for angst later..

Hours later…..

"Oi, Yugi! Yugi! Wait up!

Yugi turned at the voice. It was Jounouchi, accompanied by his constant companion and partner in crime, Honda and the gentle, white-haired Bakura Ryou and Anzu, the lone femal the the tightly knit quintet, and until quite recently, the object of Yugi's crush.

Yugi smiled and waited as the blond bombshell loped up to where he was standing. Jounouchi was an exceptionally handsome young man-the object of affection for uncountable fangirls (and boys!). But strangely enough, it seemed Jounouchi wasn't interested in girls….or boys for that matter. He hadn't expressed any overt feelings for anyone in particular. Yugi had thought Jou was at least interested in Kujaku Mai-she seemed interested enough in Jou-but it seemed nothing was happening with those two.
With his amazing good looks, kick-butt attitude and loyalty, Jou could probably have anyone he wanted. He was a guy Yugi could have easily fallen in love with-he was his best friend after all-if he wasn't already currently confused and torn over his feelfor for Yami. In any case, Yugi was extremely fond of his blond friend and hoped he could find someone, soon. The last time he and Yugi had talked about relationships, Jou had told him not to worry to worry about it. He was too busy with school, worrying about how his sister Shizuka was going to make out in her surgery to concentrate on any one right now. Yugi had sensed otherwise, but decided to keep his peace. After all, he was in no position to lecture anyone on their love life-or lack thereof.

"Jou-kun, konn'chiwa. What's up?" Yugi smiled up at him, as Jou tried to catch his breath. He took a deep breath and grinned fondly at his smaller friend.

"Hey, Yugi. We missed you at lunch today...where were you?"

Jounouchi was extremely fond of Yugi. It was unbelievable that just a few months ago, he and Honda had been part of the few people that bullied Yugi. Most people in school mostly ignored the shy and unpopular boy, thinking him a misfit that only played games. It was only when Yugi had stood up to the enormously infamous (and huge!) hall monitor Ushio that Jou had realized what a special person Yugi was.

The few weeks after that incident and their subsequent journey to the Duelist Kingdom was an eye opener for Jou, as he got to know Mutou Yugi better.

Now, there was no one else Jou loved more and was overly protective of-apart from his sister-that is- than Yugi.

Yugi looked around the taller boy and waved as the rest of the group walked up to where Yugi and Jou were standing. "Honda-kun, Bakura-kun, Anzu….konn'chiwa.".

Honda had his arm around Bakura. Those two had surprised everybody with the discovery of their relationship. They were the erstwhile surprise couple- and strangely enough; it seemed to be working. It seemed the two discovered their attraction to each other while in the Duelist Kingdom. Most surprising was the fact Yami Bakura seemed to respect Honda-he was the only person apart from the former Pharaoh to get the best of him, and Honda in return took no bullshit from Yami Bakura and left him alone so far he left Ryou alone. It seemed to be working all right so far for the three of them.

Anzu smiled warmly at Yugi, hugging him. "You are a hard person to catch, Yugi. Where have you been?"

Mazaki Anzu was a childhood friend of Yugi’s. She was a pretty girl with blue eyes, shoulder length brown hair and a bossy attitude, of which Honda and Jounouchi got most of the brunt of. She also had a very bad habit of launching into what the gang called “Anzu’s friendship speeches”, a habit tharitaritated her friends to no end.
Compared to the whole group, she had known Yugi the longest, and knew how shy and gentle he was. She had tried, through the years, to protect Yugi from his tormentors. It was also one of the reasons Yugi was always targeted by bullies. They considered him fair game since he was so small and needed a girl to defend him. It never occurred to them that Yugi just didn’t like violence.

She was, until a couple of months ago, the main character in many of Yugi’s dreams. Not any more, though. But she was still an important friend to Yugi.

Yugi returned the hug and laughed. " I'm sorry, minna. I didn't mean to neglect you or anything."
His expression turned serious. "My grandpa is kinda upset about my grades, so I've been putting in some extra time with the teachers in form of make-up credit to try to catch up...It has bee been easy."

The others smiled in empathy. Of the entire group, only Anzu and Ryou didn't have problems with grades. Jou and Honda, too, had needed lots of extra work to catch up.
For the three of them-Yugi, Jou and Honda, it wasn't that they were dumb-far from it. Yugi had been distracted with his games, Jou with his extra job and Honda…well… his case, it was just from lack of trying. But with Ryou as his love interest, he had lots of help, and since he didn't whis his new boyfriend to think he was dating a loser, Honda had decided to spend more time on his studies.

Since winning the e moe money, Jou had enough to help Shizuka and pay off his father's debt. He no longer needed to work-and he had moved out as soon as that was done. He had done his filial duty to his alcoholic, jerk of a father. Now it was time he went on with his life. He even had enough to pay for his college if he chose to go. Now he could concentrate on his studies, and get good grades.

"Well, now that school is done for today, why don't we go hang out at the arcade and have some downtime? It’s been awhile since we all got together. We could also go get a couple of burgers before we all head home…. " Jou had continued. He really, really, wanted to spend time with Yugi and his other friends.

Honda had whooped, his agreement to the plan obvious, making Ryou roll his eyes. Anzu had clapped in delight and agreement. But Yugi had refused.

"Gomen ne, Jou-kun. While I would love very much to hang out with everyone, I promised grandpa I'd head home immediately after school to help with the shop. He’s going out and might not be back until late. I also have a ton of homework and extra assignments to do and turn in." Yugi had explained, apologetically.

"Darn.... It won't be the same without you, but I guess it can't be helped." Jou had said in disappointment. The others had agreed. Yugi laughed at the comical disappointed expressions on his friends’ faces.
As they all stood around commiserating at the vagaries of fate and schoolwork, Yugi had glanced at his wristwatch in alarm.

"Look at the time! I'm gonna be late! Grandpa said he had an appointment at 4:00pm! Ja, minna, why don't we do the arcade thing on Sunday? I should be done with my work then and I'll be needing a break!" Yugi yelled as he jogged away.

"Great! I'll call you later for the time!" Anzu had yelled back at him.

"Don't forget!" Jou had yelled as a rejoinder. Honda and Ryou had just waved until Yugi was out of sight.

As Yugi ran along the route to the Game Shop, also his home, he was preoccupied with his thoughts. He really wasn’t looking forward to spending all that time alone….

//Aibou//

Yugi stumbled, hopping on one foot, trying to regain his balance before he fell flat on his face on the hard pavement. He succeeded. Barely.

/Yami?!/

//You sound so surprised to hear from me. Have I been gone from you for that long?//

/No.it's jthatthat I wasn't really expecting to hear from you./

//What?//

Yugi sighed. There was no good way to put this without digging himself into a bigger pit.

/What I meant was, I'm kinda in a hurry. I wasn't expecting to hear…Oh what the hell, we'll talk when I get home. I need to get home in a hurry. Switch with me?/

//Of course, hikari. Anything to help you out.//

/Thanks, Yami. I appreciate it./

//No problem.//

The body switch was made in an instant. Almost immediately, the speed at which Yugi was running increased. Soon, they were home. Just before opening the front door, Yugi took over again.
Yugi opened the door. The little bell over the door tinkled cheerfully.

"Jii-chan, tadaima!"

Hearing the sound of the bell and his grandson’s voice brought Yugi’s grandfather out from behind the counter, where had he been attending to some last minute details in the account books of the shop.

"Ah, Yugi. There you are. Just in time."

Sugoroku stepped out from behind the counter, getting ready to leave for his appointment. He beamed at his diminutive grandson, glad to see he was okay.

"Now Yugi, make sure you finish your homework. You can close the shop early if you need to. If I'm not back by 8:00pm, it means I’ve decided to spend the night. I'll call and let you know. I made dinner. It's ie ove oven." He said, ruffling the red-tipped black spikes fondly.

Yugi glanced down at the overnight bag Sugoroku was carrying. “Jii-chan, are you sure you don’t need me to accompany you to the station? That bag looks kinda heavy….”

“I’ll manage. It’s just a few things my friend wanted me to bring him from the archeological collection I had moldering in the basement.” Sugoroku reassured his grandson.

“ By the way, I'm proud of you. I got a call from your homeroom teacher, Ichigawa-sensei. It seems your grades have improved dramatically. I knew you could do it, if you put your mind to it. After all, you are my grandson and the Duel Monsters World Champion…."

Yugi had flushed with pleasure at the praise. He did it not only for himself, but also for his grandpa. He was, after his entire only relative in the world. He was all Yugi had, and Yugi wanted him to be happy.

"Thanks, grandpa. Have a good time, okay? And don't worry about me. I'll be okay."

"Good. Now, ittekimasu." Sugoroku hugged his grandson and stepped out of the door.

"Iterasshai. And don’t worry about anything, okay?" Yugi had said, as he waved his grandpa out the door.
Closing the door behind his departing grandfather, Yugi sighed and flipped the “Be Back Shortly” sign at the shop door to buy him sometime to change into more comfortable clothing.

Flinging his back onk on the floor behind the counter, Yugi ran up the stairs to his room to change out of his school uniform. It was at that moment Yami decided to take matters into his own hands and appear.

Yugi felt the little pull that always occurred whenever Yami left the puzzle. Pausing in his act of wearing one of his infamous tight black shirts, Yugi had sent a telepathic message to Yami.

/Yami? /

The dark one had appeared silently, watching his hikari change. His Light was a truly beautiful young man. Though he was small, he was perfectly proportioned. His pale skin gleamed with vitality in the afternoon sun. His stomach was flat and slightly ridged. In a few words, perfect.

Yami itched to run his hands over that abdomen. Just watching Yugi move around the room filled him with unbelievable lust and longing. He wanted to hug that little body to his and cover it with open-mouthed, hot kisses.
Yami smiled slyly. If even he couldn't get his little light to love him, he could at least really enjoy looking at his perfect little body….

Yami smirked. //Yes, Aibou? //

Yugi sighed. Whenever Yami had that tone in his voice and expression on his face, it meant Yami was going to do something that was going to rock the foundation of his world.

/What are you doing here? /

//I haven't seen you in a week, my light. I want to spend time with you. Have you been avoiding me? You haven't been to your soul room lately.//

Therein laid the crux of the problem. Yugi sighed again.

/I'm sorry, Yami. I've been busy lately. I've been overwhelmed with schork ork and I've been trying to catch up. /

//I see. // Yami really didn't, but he was willing to take his light's word for it.

Yugi finished dressing, and turned to his Dark. "Let's go to the shop. I need to help out with grandpa gone for the evening. You can give me a hand, too." Yugi said out loud. he added silently to himself.

Yami licked his licked his lips when Yugi turned his back. He followed his light out the door, but stood at the top of the stairs as the younger boy went down.
the dark spirit thought to himself.

Yami wasn't sure how long he could keep his hands off his little Light. Oh, the temptation...

Yugi, as he went down the stairs was also occupied with his thoughts.

"Are you coming, Yami?" Yugi glanced up at his other at the top of the stairs.

"Definitely, aibou. I most definitely will be coming." Yami replied, smiling wolfishly.

Yugi blushed at the double entendre.
Yugi sighed as he made his way into the Game Shop.
