Chapter 2

Disclaimer: Not mine.

Warnings: Check the first chapter. Too lazy.

Author: Koneko Shido

A/N: I just finished watching the 'legendary heroes' episodes. Doesn't likkle Yugi look so cute in that warrior get-up? And Kaiba tied up is a very nice image that I think Jou would have appreciated. Mwahah. And Princess Mokuba? *Cackles madly* Too cute!! I'm pretty sure Kaiba was eyeing Jou up when he saw him wearing that hero costume, too. But that might have just been me imagining things. *Snicker* Also, I've decided that Bakura and Ryou's song is now 'Growing on Me' by the Darkness, because it fits. *Shrug* Liste the the lyrics, it's true I tell you!
Anyway, back to this story, and just to warn you, I'm totally bastardising Otogi. I needed someone to be a rich jerk and he was the only person I could think of. Sorry! Please don't flame me for it, I did warn you! And I really like Otogi, honest!

Thrown to the Wolves - Part 2

"You came," Kaiba actually sounded surprised, Katsuya thought, crushing the urge to smirk at that.
"Yeah, well since you asked me so nicely..." The blonde grinned, moving past the taller teen as he stood aside to let the object of his affections enter the mansion doors. This was the first time he'd been in Kaiba's house; it was bigger than he'd expected. The place was enormous, and throone one of the doors leading off from the entrance hall Katsuya could hear the background murmur of voices from the party. He was a little nervous; it was the first time he'd been to a party like this. He was used to his friends being with him but there was not a single person he knew here except Kaiba, and that wasn't exactly reassuring. He was pretty sure that once the CEO's rich friends rejected him, Kaiba himself would follow suit and decide that Katsuya wasn't worth losing the respect of his colleagues over. Well, at least it was an experience, being inside the Kaiba mansion and meeting all these millionaires.
Ryou had helped him with his clothes, thank god, since he doubted he would have had any idea what to wear otherwise. In the end he hadn't had much that was suitable, but Ryou had finally settled for making him wear a pair of black suit trousers without the jacket, and a black silk shirt that Bakura had lent him. Knowing Bakura it was proy sty stolen, since Ryou's kleptomaniac lover had a strict rule about not spending any money on anything, ever. Still, he looked quite good in it, and Kaiba seemed to be appreciating the sight as he looked down at him with those deeue eue eyes. God, but that guy had the most gorgeous eyes.
"Come on," Kaiba gestured to the other room where the party was being held after taking a moment to admire Katsuya's outfit, leading him towards the soft murmur of noise from the other guests. Katsuya bit his lip. This was it, the point of no return.

Seto looked down at Katsuya as he led the shorter teen towards the large room where the party was being held, thinking that the blonde looked very nice in black. He himself was wearing almost the same thing, only the shirt he wore was deep blue to match his eyes.
He could tell that Katsuya was nervous, since he was tense as they entered the brightly lit room and went over to get a drink from the buffet table stretching along one wall, holding all measure of foods Katsuya had never even seen before. It was clear by the look on his face that the blonde was out of his depth, and for the millionth time Seto wished he'd chosen somewhere else for theirst rst date. Well, perhaps a drink would make him feel more comfortable.

Katsuya tried to ignore the glances and hushed comments aimed at him from all around the room, sticking close to Kaiba as the brunette led him over to the table stretching along one wall and passed him a drink that was poured out by one of his servants. He took it gratefully and risked a glance up at Kaiba to see that the CEO was looking down at him almost worriedly.
"Are you alright?" He asked, and Katsuya gave the closest he could manage to his usual grin.
"Fine, just not used to... this." He gestured vaguely to the entire room, but Kaiba seemed to understand what he meant.
"Come with me," the blue eyed teen smirked, leading him across the room through the groups of people to the other side, where they stood together against the wall and watched the rest of the rich and wealthy social elite milling about making small talk.
'Why the hell am I here?' Katsuya thought despairingly, staring down into his drink. He didn't like the constant sceptical looks that were being sent his way, or the laughter he kept hearing from various groups. Then again, he had no proof they were ling ing at him, it could all have been paranoia on his part. Ryou's suggestion about giving them the benefit of the doubt and not instantly hating and mistrusting them because they were rich came back to him, and he decided that Ryou was a pretty smart little guy. He figured that he should at least reserve judgement on them until he actually met them.
At least Kaiba seemed to be enjoying himself. Or at least... as close as Kaiba ever seemed to get. He was leaning casually against the wall holding his own drink, his sapphire eyes watching everything that was going on, occasionally flickering to his side to where Katsuya stood.
'Why is he doing this?' Katsuya couldn't help wondering as he discreetly studied CEO CEO's face. 'Why did he bring me here to show off to all these people? He's probably rebelling,' Katsuya thought with a slight smirk. 'I'll bet he's trying to shock them or something. Or maybe it's a publicity stunt. Bringing someone like me to a party like this must be a good way to get into the papers, I suppose.'
"What are you thinking about?" A deep voice suddenly asked from beside him, and Katsuya jumped slightly, looking up at Kaiba.
"Jus' wondering why you'd bring me here. Aren't you embarrassed being seen with me in front of all your rich friends?" Katsuya asked, smirking as he sipped at his drink.
"I don't give a damn what they think. I want you here." Kaiba scowled, glaring at a woman who was staring at Katsuya with distaste.
"Well that's nice to know." Katsuya watched the woman quickly turn away at Kaiba's look. 'Did it ever occur to you that I might not want to be here?' He thought, sighing. 'This is so not my kind of thing... Why am I doing this anyway? I could always have said no. He's only using me anyway, why should I be here just to make him happy? He'll only drop me when he gets bored, I dunno why I'm letting him treat me like this, just hanging onto his arm until he decides he's had enough of me. I'm so pathetic.' He thought, glaring at the red liquid of his drink rippling silently in the bottom of the glass.
"You don't exactly look as though you're enjoying yourself, though." Kaiba murmured, looking down at him with a questioning look in his eyes, one eyebrow raised a little as if to ask 'why not?'
'Oh yeah, I'm supposed to look happy for his 'image'.' Katsuya thought bitterly, then forced a grin onto his face.
"I am, I was just thinking." He lied. 'I should leave, this has got to be the most stupid thing I've ever done.' He thought as Kaiba asked him what he was thinking of. He was about to reply when a slender figure broke away from the throng and sauntered over to them, his black hair held in a ponytail and hanging down in a few spiky lengths to frame his face.
"Well, how is Kaibacorp's chief executive officer tonight? I have to congratulate you on the sales of your latest holographic game, who would have thought it'd go down so well?" The green-eyed teen smirked, an earring dangling from his ear in the shape of a tiny die.
"Otogi." Kaiba greeted coldly, in the same icy tone of voice he used on everyone.
'Who is this guy?' Katsuya wondered, noticing that Otogi's eyes flickered once to him and then he was ignored completely, as though he wasn't worth the other teen's time. 'Well that's encouraging.' He thought, deciding he'd better not say anything at all, since he had a tendency to make himself seem like an idiot every time he opened his mouth.
"And who's this?" Otogi asked, gesturing to Katsuya and sparing him another quick, distasteful glance.
"Katsuya Jounouchi." Katsuya said quietly, frowning. He got the feeling that this Otogi guy really didn't like him, for some reason. Although, by the way the black haired boy was flirting with Kaiba, it was pretty obviously jealousy.
"My date." Kaiba added, moving a little closer to Katsuya.
'Oh look, he's showing me off. Somehow I doubt this Otogi guy is gonna appreciate that...' Katsuya looked down into his drink, blushing slightly at Kaiba's possessive comment. 'If I could be anywhere else but here...'
"This dog is your date??" Otogi snorted incredulously, not even looking at Katsuya, whose fingers tightened on his glass angrily.
'Dog?! Why does everyone have to call me that?' He snarled inwardly as Otogi continued.
"Well, if you're going to start dating trash like that you're going to lose friends, you know." He smirked, sipping his wine. "That little pet won't earn you anything but ridicule. Why don't you go for something a little higher bred?"
Katsuya almost dropped his glass. 'Pet?! How dare he? I just *knew* something like this was going to happen!'
Looking up at Kaiba, Katsuya wondered if the CEO was going to defend him or kick him out. Seeing Kaiba hesitate, he growled and shoved his glass into his date's hands, glaring hotly up at him.
"I'm leaving, Kaiba. Don't lose any sleep over it, I knew this was going to happen." He said, hiding the hurt he felt at having his predictions turn out to be right under a layer of anger. Before he left, though, he turned to Otogi, who was looking pleased with himself.
"And I'm nobody's pet!" He snarled, before giving Kaiba one last acid-filled glare and storming off across the room, brushing past the people staring at him curiously and out into the blessed emptiness of the dimly lit entrance hall.
"Katsuya, wait a minute," Kaiba's voice asked from behind him as he opened the door, and he turned to see the CEO walking towards him.
"Forget it, Kaiba." He growled, "I should never have come here anyway."
That said, Katsuya turned away and walked out, closing the door behind him.
