To all you reviewers who took the time to pass on your thoughts to me I provide you the following thoughts:
Dragon Blade :Thank you. I try, when you have a mind like mine you either write about the things that clutter it up, or you get arrested for doing them.. he he
Reviewer #34321 : Thanks for all the praise, however now no one will be able to live with me and my horribly swollen ego. I like to keep people on their toes, nothing worse than an obvious plot. Anyway the suspense will soon be over !
Angel -belle - Thanks. I realize that gore is not everyone's cup of tea, but I am glad you found something that you could enjoy in it.
Aspicker -The new 'puter rocks!!!!
Dragon Dreamer -Pfffttt! You're one to talk..poor Tris and the things you do to him
Acid Flower - Yeah, gotta love the gore!
Locke of the Watch -Lucky for you I totally agree, so the Harbringer will be revealed in the next chapter. Thanks for the review
Lady Elfskye -*blushes* Yeah, I know, sorry. Maybe this chapter will help make things up
Draconyx - Sorry about the lack of Marik. Perhaps I can do a story sometime that he is involved with

Chapter Sixteen
Lisa watched Joey storming about the office with the same look of rage and helplessness as a caged tiger. He seemed unable to sit still for any more than a few moments before he was up again pacing from one end of the room to the other.
" feel like a stupid rookie, sitting here with my finger up my ass, I should be out there doing something, finding her!"
Lisa felt his helplessness as if it was her own and sighed. There was nothing she could offer him at this point in time. All the man power available to them was being used, trying to track down even the smallest of leads in the Kyla abduction. So far they had little success and were just waiting for the final report to come in on a couple of teams sent out to follow up on the information given to them by the neighbors.
"I can't just sit here and do nothing. I'll go out of my head!¨ He turned to her, desperate for something to do.
"Why don't we get out of here, Joe, grab some lunch, visit Tristan and see how he¡¦s doing or something. You're either going to drive yourself crazy or work yourself to exhaustion and neither one is going to help Kyla. We got tons of guys dealing with this right now."
Joey paused, obviously thinking over his options before he grabbed his coat off the chair.
"Your right Lis, I think I'll drop in on the guys and see how they are, update them a little bit. Why don¡' you come see me when the reports are in, maybe I can do something a little more productive then."
Lisa nodded and watched him head out the door, happy to have him out of her hair for a while. It would be no use trying to get any work with him around, he was too close to the situation to be objective, and she had some people that she needed to speak to.
~*~*~*~*
Bakura looked at his surroundings with a less than objective eye. This was the place w he he lost everything. It was funny to think that at one time he wanted nothing more than to attain his humanity and freedom from the confines of Ryou¡¦s body, but once he achieved that goal he realized that without his own soul it was just a prison of a different kind. Lonely and more removed than ever before.
He looked at the crumbling building, no longer the huge construction of metal and steel that rose high above the city, stark and imposing. Long since abandoned, the effects of the final battle had left it decimated like the ruins of a long dead Roman Empire.
He ran his hand over the chipped and broken marble surface that once denoted the playing field. Seto had paid top dollar to make this one of the biggest and most elaborate arenas around. As always he was a slave to opulence, now his dreams lay in ruin about him. He could almost feel the power that radiated from that last duel, power enough to destroy him and all the millennium items. He closed his eyes and for a moment could almost hear Yugi¡¦s voice as he made the last move that would both save and doom the bunch of them for the rest of their lives.
With a shake of his head he cleared out the unwanted memories and began to place the items that Mai had obtained for him. It was most definitely time to restore that which had been broken, things needed to be healed and restored, and he was the only one to do it. For once the usually calm and centered Bakura felt some stirrings of concern. He had planned everything so carefully over the last years that it should proceed as he had dictated; however as with all things in the supernatural realm, nothing was for certain. That was the one thing that scared Bakura, either he could end up in the shadow realm for all eternity, or, he paused for a moment as another thought leaped into his head. He could be trapped in his mortal form and die of old age. That would never do.
He held each item with great respect and dignity, well aware of their origin and the power that they possessed. It was almost hard to believe that with the right combination of words and people, these fragile items could change the very course of humanity. He fought back the urge to break them.
One for each of those in attendance, everyone had a role to play that was written for them long before time even existed. He hoped that the feebler minded of the group would be able to do as was required. He knew Ryou would do what he was told, he felt his body react at the thought of his lover and he smiled. He had a few ideas of what to tell Ryou to do when he returned.
With a sigh of regret he turned his thoughts back to his work. Now if only Isis did as he instructed her.
~*~*~**~
Isis watched Seto working at his desk with his usual grim determination and deep concentration. She had received the message from Bakura and had spent the last hour trying to work up the nerve to do what she had to do. If only Mokuba was here to help her it would be so much easier.
She approached him as quiet as possible, knowing how much he hated being interrupted while he worked.
"Isis" He acknowledged her presence with his piercing stare that made her feel like she was a little girl again facing her father.
"Seto, there are some things we need to speak about." He cocked his head slightly to one side and regarded her a moment, laying his pen on his desk.
"I agree, things have been going on too long. I think you need to turn your attentions on your family for awhile. Wheeler has obviously been influencing you in a negative way, and I must say I don't like it."
Isis bit her lip in an attempt to keep from saying something that would no doubt begin a long fight that she was in no mood to have.
"Perhaps." She conceded in a quiet voice. "However, that is not what I have come here to talk about." Intrigued, he stood up and walked over to her.
"Then what is so important, Isis?" He reached over and ran his fingers through her long black hair in a gesture of affection that he had not done in a long time. With a tremulous smile she felt the encouragement she needed to continue.
"I have been speaking with Bakura."
His hand drew away from her as if he had burnt it. His eyes narrowed with anger at the name of one of the people he would always blame for his situation.
"Bakura." He spat with contempt. "First Wheeler and now the Tomb Robber. I must say, my dear, you have been slumming it lately."
Isis closed her eyes and struggled with her self control, sometimes, as much as she loved him, Seto could be a real jerk.
"I am well aware of your feelings about him, Seto, but he knows about my visions, and what they mean. He has orchestrated the events that will bring about either a new beginning for us all, or something so horrible I dare not even think it. And, Seto, it involves you. The card he sent you was a portent to the event to come."
His interest piqued, Seto thought a moment on the words of Isis, his azure eyes darkened in his contemplation making him even more handsome, in a brooding sort of way.
"And what part exactly does he seem me playing in this" His years in the cut-throat business world had taught him to look all angles of a situation before agreeing to anything. Isis smiled and placed a hand on his arm, which to her relief he did not remove.
"You play a very important part in all of this, Seto, but you need to keep your mind open. There are times when you are going to need to be able to put aside all your anger and be able to open yourself to the scrutiny of others." Seto turned to her, his gave questioning.
"Which you don¡¦t think me capable of?"
Isis lowered her gaze a moment.
"Sometimes I don't think you open yourself enough to face your own scrutiny, Seto. You are your worst critic" He raised an eyebrow in surprise at her comment.
"Sometimes I think that you know me better than I know myself. Especially when you say things like that." He placed his hands on either side of her face and looked deep into her eyes. His gaze held her fast, helpless to him with the same hunger that he once shown her when they were younger. She felt herself responding to him, hungry for him all over again.
"Then tell me you will do what I need you to do, Seto, not just for me, but for yourself as well. I think that until we see this through, you will never find the completeness that you have searched for, for so long." He lowered his head and tasted her, drawing her soft pink bottom lip into his mouth, running his tongue over the soft flesh and then probing the warmth beyond.
Isis could feel her body start to tingle in response to his touch, the familiar wetness between her legs, her breasts aching for his touch. She could not help but to feel torn, half of her heart belonging to Joey, the other half to Seto. A single tear ran down her face which Seto brushed away.
His right hand dropped from her face and traveled down to her thigh where he proceeded to grasp the hem of her dress, pushing it upwards. She shuddered as he nibbled and tasted her collarbone, his hand now brushing against the lace of her panties, moving them aside. She felt weightless as he entered one finger inside her slick entrance, probing the heat of her arousal. She could not hold back the moan as he moved it in and out, mimicking the movements of the lovemaking to follow.
Seto withdrew from her, despite her cry of protest and started to take off his shirt, his eyes never leaving hers. She mirrored his actions, undoing her dress so that it fell to the floor in a soft pile. Then she undid the clasp of her bra and allowed that to follow, her hands running over her breasts, bringing her nipples to hard peaks.
Seto placed his hands on her waist and lifted her onto his desk, and then freed himself of his pants, and kneeling down so that he could bury his mouth where his finger had already explored. Isis cried out loudly and leaned back as he moved aside the fabric of her panties and began to lap and suck at the tender nub of flesh that gave her the most pleasure.
Waves of ecstasy rolled over her as he used his fingers to once again enter her. Wet and throbbing with need she began to shake as he thrust and licked, bringing her to an orgasm that made her scream and buck against him.
With a smile he removed her soaked panties and spread her legs, taking a moment to thrust his erection against her, but not quite entering. Teasing her he rubbed against her thigh as he leaned down and drew one taught nipple into his mouth and sucked it greedily. She ran her nails against his pale skin and panted his name over again until finally he thrust deep inside her with a cry of satisfaction. His movements were calculated so that he was able to bring her back to a state of need before he would reach his own fulfillment.
Each thrust was hard and demanding, he brought her legs up and over his shoulders allowing himself better access. He pounded deeper and harder into her, his hands working alternately from her nipples to her clitoris, gently rubbing and caressing until she thought that she would pass out from the pleasure.
No longer able to control himself he began to increase the speed of his strokes, faster and faster until with one last cry he thrust himself deep inside her and exploded. Panting he buried his face in her shoulder and tried to compose himself.
"It has been much too long, Isis." He murmured softly, nuzzling her gently. Isis smiled and kissed the top of his head.
"I think you may be right, Seto."

"So exactly what were you contemplating doing with that gun, Tristan?" The voice made Tristan jump from his chair, a mixture of guilt and anger on his face.
"It's not what you think, Joey, so don¡¦t get all bent out of shape over it." He crossed his arms over his chest, taking on a defensive posture.
Joey grabbed the gun off the desk and opened the chamber, removing all the bullets and pocketing them.
"This is not going to help solve anything, Tris." Tristan sighed and put his hand out for the gun.
"Geeze, man, I wasn't going to kill myself if that's what you¡¦re thinking. I just can't sit here and do nothing. Don't take offense or anything, but if the police haven't done anything yet, then chances are they aren't going to find the bastard that did this."
Joey cocked one eyebrow in question and put the gun in the waistband of his pants.
"And what? You think you're qualified to go off like some half wit vigilante and deal this by yourself? Where are you going to start, Tris? Cause I can tell you one thing, the only outcome to this is most likely you getting killed."
Tristan shrugged and stared at him a moment.
"What else do I have? Hiroe and the baby are dead" He paused a moment, pain washing over his face. "And Mako is gone. This is all I have left, Joey."
Joey walked up to his friend and placed his hands on his shoulders, forcing him to face him.
"This isn¡¦t the solution, Tris. I swear to God I am going to do everything I can to help you. I'm here for you, buddy, give me a chance."
Tristan nodded slowly and then gave Joey a pat on the shoulder in thanks.
"Sure, whatever you say. I just feel so helpless."
Joey swallowed back the bitter bile that rose in his throat at his thoughts.
"I know how you feel. Kyla is missing." He all but whispered the words, feeling ashamed that he had done nothing to protect his baby against who knows what horror. An image of Hiroe crucified on the boat made him feel slightly dizzy and he had to lower himself down into a chair.
Tristan wore an expression of shock and he shook his head as if to deny the words.
"Oh man, no. Shit, Joe, I don't know what to say." He sat down next to Joey and they sat a moment in silence letting the significance of the words sink in.
Thankfully their silence was broken by the sound of Lisa boarding the boat. Her face flushed with the excitement of her news.
"Joey!" She yelled, panting in between trying to catch her breath.
"I got good news, the latest reports are in, and not only do we have a match on the fibers found at the previous scenes, but we have a positive ID on someone taking something very large from Kyla's house. I ran the plates on the car identified and we came up with this."
She handed him sheet of paper with an address printed on it. Joey blanched and looked up at Lisa.
"I know who this is."
