Chap 15 Battle Scars

In the storage house, Cleo was cornered near a furnis. She looked at Atemu wich anger.
"If I can't have you no one can!" She struck a fuse sparked and hissed as she was about to run away but Atemu grabbed her arm and held her close to him as possible near the fuse.
"You want to be with me so bad." He glanced at the fuse and back at her. "Then die with me!" His eyes glared as the building blew up. The others watched in horror as the flamed engulfed the sky. Their eyes glossened in tears, their hearts stuck with a jolt of pain.
Yuugi feeling it the worst screamed in heartbreak.
"YAMI!" They all huddled together certain he was dead. They all cried for him, the trio tried to calm Yuugi down but he just dropped to the ground and layed there only moved a few times to pound his hand against the pavement. Then he curled in a tight ball rocking back and forth. As the flames died down the fire department was suddenly there with out them noticing at first. The fire was out but smoke still blew across the peir. They heard the fire chief call out to his unit.
"GET OVER HERE, WE GOT TWO BODIES!" The chief called out. Yuugi knew one of them was Atemu. He got to his feet and ran over to where the ambulence waited to cart them off.
"This ones gone, I can't even tell what gender it was." The chief said as Yuugi looked at the corpse, seeing the Heart of Cleopatra
in the forehead of the dead one.
"Chief, we got a live one." Said one of the firefighters. This person's body must have shielded him, get him in the ambulence he may be alive but he's in delacate heath." The cheif said. Yuugi didn't look back at the others, he got into the ambulence with the singed Atemu. He sat off to the side watching the medical team in the back reviving the burn victim. Yuugi studied him as best he could with all the doctors around him. His skin was slightly darker, he had less hair, his eye brows were burned off the blond of his hair was grey from the dust of the rubble. the wounds from the monster attacks from earlier had stopped dripping blood, but still open and smelling like death.
At the hospital while Yuugi waited in the waiting room worried to death about Atemu, paced around looking up at the clock every five minutes. Jou, Anzu, and Honda walked in and gave Yuugi that compassionate group hug again. With out words they waited still holding him. Yuugi rested his head on Anzu's breast while Honda and Jou on each side, Jou resting his face on Yuugi's fuzzy little head while Honda rubbed Yuugi's soft little back. Anzu kept her arms securly wrapped around his petite throbbing body. Yuugi was crying heavily as his friends tried to make him feel better. Hours later near midnight a nurse came over to them.
"I'm sorry you'll have to come back tommarow, Yami Mutou is in intensive care." She said.
"Can I stay?"Yuugi gave her those big puppydog eyes, Jou happened to see the look, and pulled him away fromt Honda and Anzu to give him a huge bear hug. He was in aww with those eyes.
"Are you related to the patient?" She asked.
"Yes, he's my....DAD!" He said quickly.
"Ok, you can sleep in the lobby but the rest of you have to leave right, now, Sorry it's the hospitals policy."She apologized. The night was long and lonely for Yuugi. He could hardly sleep in the waiting room laying across the chairs, tossing and turning till he finally fell on the floor. Some familiar doctor came by the hospital with the sennen puzzle in hand. It was Dr. Needle.
"Hey kid, I believe this is yours, you have to give it back to Atemu, he's only at half strength with out it."
"Thank you so much." Yuugi smiled at him as the nurse from earlier came by to tell Yuugi grave news.
"Yuugi Mutou, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but.."
"IS YAMI DEAD?"
"Not yet, he's dying, you can see him if you want. He said he wanted to see you." She said.
"Where is he?"Yuugi asked her with tearing eyes.
"Follow me." She said.
"Wait, kid, make a wish on the puzzle, it's magic is flowing tonight for some reason." Needle said as he walked away.
Yuugi followed the nurse to Atemu's room. Yuugi's face dropped. Atemu did not look good at all. Yuugi ran to him but was afriad to touch him, fearing he would hurt him worse than he already was, his body was bandaged in several places with blood gushing through, his eyes looked sunk and blackened all around, and what scared Yuugi the most was the oxygen mask covering his mouth, the blood pack hooked in one arm, IV in the other, and the life support wires sticking all over his chest and and arms. Atemu could barley look at Yuugi although that's what he wanted to do. Yuugi felt a sense of inpendinding doom, he Knew his friend was a goner, but then he remembered what Dr. Needle said about making a wish on his relic. He held the puzzle close to his heart and whispered his wish to himself, then kissed the puzzle, hoping a little sugar would make the wish come true. All of a sudden, Yuugi fell asleep on his feet, before falling backward, Atemu also falling asleep pulled the tiny boy in the bed with him undesturbing all the wiring all over him. A deep restful sleep claimed them for the night. They awakened the next morning by the warm glow of the sun beaming from the window. They woke up feeling suprisingly better.....until a nurse came in and started bitching at Yuugi for sleeping in a patients bed. She scolded him and then the little rugrat ran out of the room. Atemu smacked her butt.
"Easy there dolly." He smiled at her. He was feeling better.
"Your lucky your already in intensive care!" She gave him a smirk. Atemu was moved to recovery that afternoon. Yuugi never left the hospital, he just waited till that nurse went on her cigarette break before he went back up to see Atemu.
