Chapter 15: The World After

It had been about six months since Yugi had taken Yami back into his world and loved him once more.
Yami had set up a huge wedding. Him being rich from singing in America, he could afford that, a very memorable honeymoon and much, much more.

Yugi was now in the kitchen cleaning off some dishes from the night before.
He couldn’t help thinking about some of the new memories that he, Yami and the others had formed.
His life had been, once again, perfect. He had the love of his life, all to himself…he had the best friends anyone could ask for…he had family that loved him…He couldn’t think of how his life could get any better.

Yugi had placed the last dish on the drying rack next to the sink and began to take off his gloves.

Just then, he felt two strong arms wrap around his waist. Yugi smiled and placed his arms over of his lovers.

“I didn’t you you come in.”

“Neither did I.”

Yugi’s smile grew at the humor.
“How was your day?”

“Uneventful…until now.”

Yugi turned around in the hold and wrapped his arms around Yami’s neck as he looked into piercing eyes.
“Is that

“Very.”
Yami leaned down and took Yugi’s lips in his own as he gained entrance to his light’s mouth.

Just then, the bell on the door to the shop rang.
Yami pulled back from the kiss with a growl.
“Tell me that was just my imagination.”

Yugi chuckled.
“We’d better go see who it is.”

“You owe me.”

“As always.”
Yugi kissed Yami’s nose before leaving the kitchen to go to the shop followed closely by his darkness.

“Hey Yug! Yami!” greeted Joey with a wide grin.

“Hey, guys. What’s up?” Yugi asked.

“We were going to the park later. You two wanna come?” asked Ryou.

/What do you think? Should we go?/

Yami mentally shrugged.
//Whatever you wish, aibou.//

Yugi smiled.
“Sure. We’d love to.”

“Great. You ready?”

“Yeah. We’ll go get out coats.”

“Kay. We’ll be here,” said Malik.

Yugi and Yami went into the next room and grabbed light jackets seeing as it was a little nippy outside since it was Fall.

At the park, the guys just hung out.

Yugi and the rest of the lot, with exceptions to a few, played American football. No one really keeping score, just…playing, having fun.

Later, the couples either went into the sun of under some shade.

Yugi and Yami sat under a large Lilac tree, surrounded by the sweet aromas.

“Look at them,” said Joey as some of the others came over to sit.
“They’re perfect for each other. And to think they almost weren’t.”

“I know,” said Malik.
“Thanks to us.”

“Without us, who knows where Yugi would be…not to mention Yami,” said Ryou.

“Yes, that was a close call,” commented Malik.

Yugi sat in his lover’s lap, staring at and twirling his wedding band.

/Yami?/

//Yes, hikari?//

/Will you always love me?/

//Always and forever.//
Yami lowered his head and started kissing the younger’s neck.

/And you’ll always be min? Only mine?/

//I wouldn’t have it any other way.//

Yugi smiled and snuggled closer to Yami’s body, closing his eyes.

‘My aibou, my precious little light…never again will I make a fool hearted mistake and loose you. You are my world, my life, my everything. You are mine as I am always yours. Nothing on this Ra’s forsaken Earth can, nor will, ever change that. I love you, my tenchi.’

Yugi repositioned his head as he said sleepily,
“Love you, my darkness…”

Yami blinked and looked down at the other to see that he was already asleep.
Had he heard Yami’s thoughts?

Yami chuckled and looked at the sun-filled sky.
‘I guess I’ll never know.’
