Chapter 15: In the Public Eye
I'm so glad Seto said that he loves me on TV!! I never would have that much courage to say
something like that on national TV. But then again, he's never been afraid of us.
It's been about a week or so since the announcement and we've been followed like hawks.
I can't even go to work in peace. I feel like a celebrity of some sorts. Yea, Seto knows how
to avoid the cameras, but I'm just a rookie!
Tasukete!!
Yugi somehow made it over. Eyes are glassy and dazed from all the shots of the cameras
following him into my dad's apartment.
"How can you handle this Jou?!" exclaims Yugi as he sits down and attempts to get his vision
straightened out.
"I don't know how. I can't even peek out a window without a million flash bulbs going off."
"I think I would have done better just calling you."
"I think so too!" I say laughing. "I caught one of those cameramen in the tree trying to take
my picture in the shower."
"I've seen plenty of pictures of you, but hardly none of Kaiba."
"Yea...speaking of that. He knows how to get away from them."
"It's almost the end of summer. WIll you still be working at Kaiba Corp?"
"I dunno. Part time I guess. Seto volunteered to pay my tuition, but I earned it over the
summer, and I got a scholarship so I denied his offer."
Yugi looks at my bed then peeks out the window.
Even at 8pm, flash bulbs are still going off like mad. Do those people have a real life?!
"I hate to be kind of rude Yugi, but I have to get ready to go."
"Where are you going?"
"To a dinner party. Actually, the annual KaibaCorp Summer Social."
"I've seen that on TV a few times, well actually just the pre-party special. They show who
all is coming in with who."
I take out a couple tuxedos and lay them on the bed.
"Which one?" I ask.
One tux is the classic black and white and the other is white and blue.
"When was the last time you wore either of them? I don't remember you in the blue and
white."
"I put both of them in the cleaners and got them out earlier this morning. As for the blue
and white, I just bought it yesterday."
"Oh. Go with blue and white."
"Why do you insist on that one? Maybe I want black and white."
"Hey, it's not going on my body. I just like blue and white."
'Ok. Blue and white it is."

Over the past week I've been with Shizuka and Setsuya a lot. She enjoyed all of the gifts
I got for the baby, especially the pampers and wipes.
I've seen Honda and Miho together a few times at the grocery store. Of course we didn't
say a word to each other.
As I sit through another boring board meeting here at J-Men's Inc., I can't help but to
think of Seto and how he used to sit through board meetings. How could he stand it?! I
know I'm district manager and I should be contributing more to the table, but I'm just
bored right now.
Seto, I wish you were still here.
"Meeting dismissed." I hear out of everything else that's been said.
I quickly put my papers and laptop into my briefcase and hurry to the parking lot.
Lovely, my car is the only one on this level.
I casually walk to the red Ferrari that Seto left me with. What...what's this?!
Who the hell keyed my car?!
Fuck! Leave me alone!
I step back, noticing the damage...and word that's been carved on the side...
'Y A R O U'...
If this is how it's going to be. Fine. I've been slapped once and I've turned my head.
Slapped again and I take revenge.
