Nazo no Kisu (Mysterious Kiss)

Welcome to the 14th chapter. You all should have known better that I wasn't going to leave the story
like that. Hehehe. Well, anyways, you know I can't leave in THIS much suspense, Atemu has to get back
to Domino City...to see Yugi again! And Yugi gets his POV duties back once more. (Yugi: Cool!) Now,
here's Chapter 14...the real one!

Chapter 14: Hurtful Truth

I'm so glad that I finally heard from Atemu! He's doing well, that's great! I can't believe it! Now I can
tell everyone else...and do a little investigation as to who did it to him and why.

I shower and put my clothes on and literally float downstairs. I'm on Cloud 109! I'm so happy!

"Where are you floating off to?" Jii-chan ropes me down and asks.

"Ohh... to Jou's. He's going to be so glad to hear that Atemu is ok!"

"Ahh. That's good to hear. I hope he can come back home to you soon."

Huh???

"And what does that supposed to mean?" I ask.

If mom and now grandpa know something...then does dad suspect something too?!

"Oh nothing Yugi." he says walking by me and tapping my shoulder and chuckling.

I shrug my shoulders and leave home and go to Jou's.

I walk in the building and go to apartment 1024.

'knock knock'

The door opens and Shizuka smiles at me.

"Yugi-kun, come in."

I walk in and leave my shoes in the foyer and follow her to the bedrooms. She knocks on a door...
No response.

"Jou! Jounouchi!"

"Leave me alone Shizuka!" Jou yells.

I hear a lot of shuffling and stuff being moved around. She knocks again.

"Katsuya! Open this door right now!"

"Don't call me that!" he yells, and I hear more shuffling around and something breaking. "Shimatta!"

"Yugi's here."

The door immediately opens, revealing a very flushed Jou. What's going on in here? She walks off and
goes into her bedroom.

"Did I interrupt anything?" I ask.

"No, come in." I walk in and the TV's fuzzy and I notice Kaiba sitting on a bean bag chair.

Jou shuts the door and locks it.

"So, what were you two doing?" I ask looking around, seeing nothing out of the ordinary except for a
very flushed Jou and Kaiba.

I sniff the air, and notice no unusual smells... So they weren't having sex. So what were they doing?

"We were watching a video. I don't think you'd be too interested in it..."

I wonder what kind of sex video it is? Ahh, who cares.

"Well anyways...I just stopped by to tell you two something. Atemu's ok."

The two gasp, then a somewhat forced smile comes on their faces.

"I'm glad to hear that. Is he back in town?" Jou says, sounding like he doesn't really care about Atemu's
health.

Could he have done something to him? My instinct is telling me that these two are hiding something
very important... But, nah! Jou wouldn't do anything like that...would he? He's my best friend and he
wouldn't hurt anyone so close to me.

"No. He's still in Egypt. The doctors said that he can't leave Africa, let alone leave Egypt. He's literally
on 'country arrest'."

"That's so sad. I was hoping for him to return soon." Kaiba says with a sly smile on his face. Now this
is really raising suspicions... "I really do miss him. I want to do the image thing with him again."

*Sigh* I know those two would do anything like that. Never hurts to ask...

"Umm...hey Jou, Kaiba. I have something to ask you two." I say....very afraid to ask this question. But if
I want answers...

"For some odd reason or another, I believe the two of you have something to do with Atemu's current
condition. I hate to put the blame on you two. Well, I'm just saying that...I really didn't know Atemu until
about 6...maybe 7 months ago and I don't know who he possibly could have pissed off...before that
time..."

The two give me the oddest looks I've ever seen. I can't exactly read them...

"Now Yugi, why would we do something like that?! I can't believe you're accusing Kaiba and I, your
best friend, of something like that!" yells Jou.

And the word 'GUILTY' is written all over your face. Now it's on Kaiba's too. Kami, please let me be
reading them wrong!

"Well, I have to go now. Atemu should be calling me at home any time now. I just wanted to come by
and tell you some good news about him, but it's like the two of you don't care. Ever since that day at the
tournament, the two of you haven't been too fond of Atemu. I personally, don't care. If you don't like him,
then there's no reason to like me either!"

I storm out the door and straight to the foyer. As I'm putting my shoes on, Jou and Kaiba stand behind me.
What could they possibly want?!

"I am going now." I say opening the door.

"Wait, Yugi." Jou says.

"We did it." Kaiba says.

Once again, my world stops spinning...in utter disbelief of what was just said.

"Yea, we did it. We, Kaiba and I, were the ones to grab him, blindfold him, tie him up, and beat the living hell
out of him!" Jou says proudly.

"Nani?! Why did you do it?! Jou, I thought that you and I were best friends! One best friend wouldn't do
anything like that to hurt the other!" I yell as tears stream down my face.

"Hell Yugi, you were playing a very dangerous game! Seeing Anzu, yet seeing Atemu at the same time! You
should have known that it was going to catch up to you!" Jou says to me.

"Why did you do it?!" I ask once again, not satisfisied with that bull-crap answer I just got.

"We were asked to do it and we were more than happy to oblige. If anything Yugi, you should have done as
Jou advised you!" Kaiba tells me.

"Now I understand why the police hasn't gotten anywhere in the investigation. Your dad's company literally
own everyone in Domino City. I bet that the police knows, but won't move off their ass to get the two of you
because they're afraid of losing their jobs!"

"You got to give them credit, they do have sense." Kaiba says snickering.

I can't believe those two would do something like that to hurt someone!

"You two are pathetic." I say swinging the door open then slamming it.

I could do nothing but run home, straight home and to the back door. I zip upstairs and bury my head in my
pillow, crying.

I just can't believe that Jou would have something to do with that?! He's supposed to be my best friend! He's
supposed to know how I would feel if he did it. Ha! Some friend he is! With friends like Jounouchi, who needs
enemies?

...

"Yugi? Yugi? Telephone."

I feel someone shaking me...and I open my eyes. I must have cried myself to sleep. I pick up my phone and
answer it.

"Moshi moshi." I say very lazily.

"Wake up, Yugi."

"Atemu! I'm so glad to hear from you! Did you sleep well?"

"Yes, it's been the best sleep since I was in that coma." he says laughing.

I could only sigh.

"What's wrong Yugi?" he asks.

"I have something to tell you, Atemu." I say shyly.

"Is everything ok Yugi? I wish I could be there with you right now!"

"No, everything is not ok. I know who did it."

"Did what?"

"Caused you to be in the coma."

"Who?!" he says as I can hear the anger develop and blossom in his voice.

"Kaiba and Jounouchi."

"What. No, that's not right! Is it?" he replies in utter disbelief. Not that I blame him. Jou and I are
best friends, well, ex-best friends.

"After I talked to you, I went to Jou's to tell him the good news. Those two weren't the least bit
glad to hear that you are ok. So anyways, I asked them, and they confessed."

"I can't believe it. I thought we all were friends!"

"Backstabbing friends from what I can see."

The two of us continue to talk, both of us still in utter disbelief that Kaiba and Jounouchi were to
blame and there's not a damn thing we could do about it.
