Holy Pendants, Batman!

Still in the Kaiba household, it was a new day and that meant another day of school for both of the brothers. After hitting the snooze button on his alarm clock for the seventh time that morning, Seto was in more of a rush than usual. He cursed himself for letting himself sleep in the day before, not because it showed weakness; but regardless of whether it was a good idea at the time or not, his carelessness messed up his biological clock like you would not believe. Thankfully, he had also forgotten to change the clocks for that accursed Daylight Savings Time, so his alarm went off an hour earlier than usual, so unbeknownst to him, he was still right on schedule.

Finally satisfied with his prestine uniform after half an hour of trying to make it look better and telling the time to go screw itself, it was just school; nobody cared if he was late, so it didn’t matter anyway. It was a feat to find something in which Seto Kaiba didn’t look exceedingly hot in. Unfortunately, his school uniform just so happened to be one of those few and far between outfits that just didn’t look good on Seto. He grimaced when it got as good s it was going to get, his tall, thin frame was not helping matters either.

‘Damnit, these uniforms were not made for tall people!’

He grabbed his nacklace and briefcase before exiting his room to check on his little brother. He walked casually to Mokuba’s room from which he heard very loud music. Thinking nothing of it and not recognizing the music, Seto opened the door and stood stunned by what he saw.

There was Mokuba, already clad in his black uniform which was almost identical to Seto’s (except Mokuba’s looked really good on the little squirt). But that’s not what surprised Seto at all, rather what Mokuba was doing as opposed to what he was wearing.

So, what could have been so shocking to leave Seto speechless with an expression something akin to awe on his face? Well, how about Mokuba jumping on the bed, dancing and singing Britney Spears at the top of his little lungs?

"There must be another way, cause I believe in takin’ chances, but who am I to say, wa gia girl is to do, God I need some answers! What am I to do with my life? (you will find it out don’t worry) How am I supposed to know what’s right? (you’ve just gotta do it your way) I can’t help the way I feel, but my life has been so over…protected!"

During his little dance, Mokuba spun around and found himself staring into the confused eyes of his big brother. Needless to say, the shade of red which Mokuba’s face turned matched well with his uniform.

"I’ll give you overprotected!" Seto said, launching himself at his little brother and tickling him relentlessly.

"Ok, ok, I give!" Mokuba gasped finally as he hugged his brother affectionately. But he suddenly pulled away with a confused look on his face, "Seto, where’s your necklace?" he asked, pulling out his locket with the picture of Seto inside. Seto just furled a brow in inquiry.

"My necklace? But I’m wearing it silly, just like I always do." Seto replied , looking down, vaguely wondering if this was some kind of joke being played on him by the little brat beneath him, as Mokuba was very fond of playing jokes as the ‘Pretending to be Seto on the phone’ incident proved quite well.

"What, this one?" Mokuba asked, pulling Seto’s necklace completely out from his uniform to reveal a pendant which looked nothing like Seto’s locket.

Seto blanched as he stared at the pretty silver charm dangling helplessly in front of his face, recognizing it insantly as Otogi’s. In his rush the day before, he must have grabbed the wrong necklace on the way out. However, this meant that Otogi must have his necklace and that gave him a reason to get Otogi alone—the last thing he needed was for the entire class to know what had happened, he did have a reputation to uphold. Just thinking about Otogi was enough to make him blush a pretty shade of pink. It wasn’t until Mokuba spoke that he was brought back to the real world of actually paying attention.

"You know Seto, if a stranger were to walk in here right now, I’d bet they’d think we were d som something indecent, the way you’re straddling me like that." He said with an evil grin.

If Seto was pink before, now he was the deepest red imaginable as he frantically scrambled off of his brother.

"Now I know how Otogi must have felt… Well, until he took over, that is!"

"You have your mind permanently embedded in the gutter, don’t you Mokuba?" Seto snapped, then he looked at his watch, "Don’t bother answering that, just get downstairs and into the car!

With that, both brothers rushed down the stairs. Well, Seto actually went down the stairs while Mokuba contented himself with surfing down the slightly curved banister.

"You’re going to fall and break your head one of these days." Seto chided.

They both jumped into Seto’s BMW and they were on their way.

Meanwhile, at Otogi’s game ship, things went much more smoothly, except Otogi got confused before realizing that the mystery necklace in his possession was Seto’s and not a last minute ditch gift attempt by Honda, which made Otogi very happy. Unlike Seto’s, Otogi’s uniform fit him perfectly, sexily accentuating every one of his sensual curves.

Cruising down the empty streets of Domino in his "classy" white Pontiac Sunfire, Otogi had ‘Can’t Get You Outta My Head’ by Kylie Minogue stuck in his head, so he sang it all the way to school. He was sure to have akingking space because very few students actually drove to school and for that he was glad.

Another reason he was happy was the prospect of going to the Senior Sanctuary with Seto… Anyone was better than Honda, but Seto was the best-case scenario. It was with this in mind that he pulled up to the school and parked.

He got out of the car and walked through the massive wrought iron gates which led to the school grounds. His emerald gems scanned the grounds for any sign of his cobalt-eyed Prince Charming… There he went, turning into a screaming fangirl again. Finding no sign of Seto, Otogi decided to hand out outside in a tree until the bell rang.

Moving over to the tree he always climbed when he was bored, his gaze crossed those of two of his classmates. Thanks to Seto, Otogi was able to correctly identify them as being Yami and Bakura, as opposed to Yugi and Ryou. Because he was in an extremely good mood and deciding to be overly friendly, he greeted them both as he passed en route to his tree.

"Morning Yami… Bakura." He said cheerfully, giving each of them a quick acknowledging nod of his head along with their greeting.

It took a moment of Yami and Bakura staring stupified at each other before what had happened registered in their brains. Before Bakura could say anything, Yami had already grabbed Otogi and had him firmly pinned against the nearest wall, glowering menacingly.

‘Well, this feels strangely familiar, I wonder what this is all about.’ Otogi mused, his déjà vu reminding him of when Seto had him in practicall the same position. The only difference was that then it was an irate Seto and now it was an irate Yami.

"What did you call me?!" Yami demanded furiously.

"I called you Yami—that is your name, isn’t it?" Otogi replied.

"He’s got you there, Pharaoh!" Bakura added, very amused with the situation.

"Silence Tomb Robber!"

"Damn, you two are sure the loving couple now, aren’t you?" Otogi mumbled, barely audibly and mostly to himself more than the infuriated former Pharaoh.

"What was that?!" Yami demanded through clenched teeth, contining to tighten the grip he had on Otogi’s uniform, he was grabbing to hard that his knuckles were beginning to turn white.

"Nothing!" Otogi replied innocently, unable to notice anything around him except Yami becoming angrier by the second. Otogi mused that maybe, just maybe, he was getting close to having his mind sent on a one-way trip to the infamous and dreaded Shadow Realm if he kept this up.

Meanwhile, a familiar silver BMW pulled up to the school and Seto casually strolled out after dropping his brother off at school. He walked onto the grounds where he found a rather large throng of people congregated all in one area next to one of the walls. Again, Seto was fortunate he wasn’t a cat as his curiosity got the better of him and he weaved through the crowd only to find Bakura, standing by and watching the scene between Yami and Otogi unfold.

"So Bakura, mind telling me why Yami seems to want to rip out several of Otogi-kun’s vital organs?" Seto asked.

"I’ve actually been asking myself the same question. From what I understand the Pharaoh is pissed because Otogi there called him Yami and not Yugi. Although I don’t know why that offended him so much. He also mentioned that Yami and I were lovers and that just did it, he just snapped. Right now, he is not a happy spirit. But the funny thing is that I’m not mad at all, I personally just think he’s having a PMS day."

"I can vouch for that! Ra knows I saw enough of those. Yikes!" Seto said, nodding thoughtfully before his thoughts added ‘I’d better go and save Otogi by peeling Yami off of him before Yami rips him apart and I’m out one infatuation!’

With that, Seto walked forward and relatively easily pulled Yami and Otogi apart, much to the discontent of the assembled masses. Neither Yami nor Otogi knew exactly what was going on until they saw Seto, at which point both sets of eyes went wide open with that signature fangirl sparkle in the depths of emerald and crimson. They both simultaneously exclaimed "Seto!", although one exclaimed out of surprise while the other cried out in wonder. In the background, you could hear Bakura smacking himself in the head at the sheer stupidity of the situation, Seto merely shrugged and smirked, saying simply and sarcastically,

"Now children, what have you been told about fighting on the playground? Now go scamper off."

"Yes, dad." Yami spat, equally sarcastically.

Otogi was about to follow suit and leave when Seto put a hand on his shoulder and said,

"Not you, I’m not finished with you yet."

Now, while Yami had left the immediate vicinity, he was now found with Bakura, still well within earshot of Seto and Otogi.

Speaking of those two, one they thought everyone was sufficiently far enough away, Seto took the charm off from around his neck. He took Otogi’s hand in his own and delicately set the necklace in his open palm before closing Otogi’s fingers around the metallic object.

‘Oh no! If he’s giving this back to me, it must mean he really doesn’t care for me. There’s no other explanation, so much for Sanctuary…’ Otogi thought frantically, ‘I should really tell him to keep it, at least then he’d have a small token of my affections. Besides it probably looks better on him anyway, everything makes him look irresistibly hot—though I still say he looks best wearing nothing at all…’

"I think this belongs to you." Seto said seductively, whispering into Otogi’s ear.

Otogi nodded and, almost reluctantly, reached into his shirt and pulled out Seto’s locket.

‘I could tell him that I was wearing this over my heart so he’d always be close to me, or that I’ve been thinking about him inceasently since he left yesterday morning… but then he’d just think I was a crazy hopeless romantic, which I suppose I am…’ Otogi thought.

Although, instead of saying anything ot handing the necklace back to Seto, Otogi took the pendant and attatched it around Seto’s neck, letting his hands brush past Seto’s jaw and linger there for a moment on their was back to rest at Otogi’s sides. There was no way in the Seven Hells that Seto could mistake the look of longing he saw in the depths of Otogi’s beautiful emerald green eyes.

Meanwhile, two very intrigued spirits were watching this transaction with a vested interest in its outcome. Correction, one intrigued spirit and one very bitter one (I’ll let you guess which is which).

"Man, no one can shoot, but everybody’s scorin’ around here." Yami spat while Bakura simply laughed at his companion.

Regardless if it was his intention or not, Yami’s words were just loud enough to get Seto’s attention which in turn got Otogi’s attention who turned and raised a perfectlapedaped eyebrow in Yami’s direction, effectively mirroring his confusion.

Seeing a chance to test his new theory, Yami heedlessly walked up to the two young entrepreneurs and hopped up on a nearby bench.

"So how did you two spend your day off?" he asked as neutrally as he could.

Seto and Otogi looked at each other suspiciously, doubtly the credibility of Yami’s sudden mood swing, then they remembered those were symptoms of PMS. They replied simply, as though they had one voice,

"Dueling."

"Really? I find that intriguing because that must be the reason you have each other’s stuff, as though it was left with you."

"It wasn’t left with me, I found it yesterday in the locker room near the shower after my track practise. I knew it was his, so I grabbed it so I could make sure it got back to him." Otogi replied.

‘Track? Well, that explains those sexy legs.’ Seto thought.

"And what was Seto doing near the showers in the locker rooms?"

"You’re asking the wrong person."

For the second time in ten minutes, emerald and crimson gazes fixed themselves on Seto, expecting an explanation.

‘How is he going to get out of this? Man he stays so cool, calm, collected, and calculating when he’s under pressure. Then he just gets hotter!’ Otogi thought , staring at Seto.

"Well you see, yesterday Mokuba and I came here because Mokuba wanted to to play some basketball with him on our day off. Now as you would recall, yesterday was unreasonably humid and I had a key to the school, so when we were finished playing I went inside to take a shower. I guess I must have forgotten my locket on the hook outside the showers when I left. I’m just thankful Otogi came along shortly afterward and grabbed my necklace before anyone else could, it means too much to me to lose." Seto said, proud of his improvisational skills.

At the mention of his name, Otogi’s head snapped up and he blushed to the whites of his eyes when he realized he had started daydreaming about Seto in the shower…

"Yes, it was a fortunate occurance that Otogi just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Well, that clears a lot up, although I’m still amazed the school would give you a key to its inner passageways." Yami said.

"Now that’s all said and done—" Otogi began.

"Now hold on a tick, Seto’s excuse may have explained why you have his locket, but it doesn’t say anything about why he has your pendant." Yami interrupted.

"Why does he have my charm?" Otogi asked dumbfoundedly, "Simple, I gave it to him as the payment of our wager. I lost our duel and therefore lost my charm as a result. Seto was simply gracious enough to return it to me."

"That works for me, come on Yami!" Bakura said, dragging Yami away.

When they were finally alone, Seto pulled Otogi into his arms and held him close, as if he already knew Otogi was upset about something. Finally Seto spoke.

"I thought you suggested we tell them our duel was a draw." He whispered seductively into his ear.

"True, but I reconsidered. You won, you are the Duel Monsters World Champion after all, I can’t pretend to compete with that." Otogi murmured solemnly, ‘No matter what you might think, you did win, Seto… you won my heart."

"Otogi what’s wrong? You’re not your cheery self all of a sudden, I’m worried." Said said, suddenly concerned.

Then the bell rang.

"It’s nothing… Can I just talk to you later, alone?"

"Of course, I’ll see you later." Seto answered, giving Otogi a chaste kiss before leaving and disappearing into the hallways of the school.

‘Who am I kidding? He’s never going to want me… He could have anyone…’
