Interrogating Seto & Joey's Glory

NOTE: CHAPTER 12 HAS BEEN UPDATED AND IS COMPLETE! There is a little snippet at the end that is important!

Dodges random vegetables and weapons. Yes this is very late. And it is a crappy short chapter. But it's getting me back into the means of writing and finishing this story. There will now hopefully be 24 chapters in all. Which means we're over half way YAY! I will be beginning work on July 25th which means no updates for a month. So that's my warning. This story will be finished! This chapter is indeed rushed...and could probably use some work but I do hope you enjoy it. Yugi needs to get Yami back right? Right.

Chapter 13 Interrogating Seto & Joey’s Glory

Seto shifted uncomfortably. Yugi’s eyes remained trained on him. He knew the moment would come when Yugi confronted him, he just didn’t think he would be this uncomfortable. He nodded and tried to relax. “What do you want to talk about?”

Yugi finally looked away and towards the stars. He missed Seto’s look of relief. “I…I guess there was something about Yami I never really understood.” Yugi admitted with a weak smile. “I knew his past…well, I thought I did. I guess he let me know what I needed to know, and that was that.” Yugi collapsed onto the sand. “I don’t remember when I fell in love with him. It kind of happened. I kept it from him-well it’s not like it would have gone anywhere anyway. He was inside of my head…inside the puzzle, when he was in his own body…nothing really happened either. He kind of avoided me.”

“Did you know about me and him?”

“I tried to ignore it.” Yugi said softly. “It made Yami happy…I don’t want to say because he was happy I was happy…it just wasn’t my place. You reminded him of a time when he was happy. You reminded him of his home. That’s something I probably never could have done.” Yugi felt tears sting at his eyes. “He was a pharaoh.”

“That isn’t any excuse Yugi.” Seto said. “That was a long time ago. He was living in the past and let himself be blinded by it.”

Yugi snorted. “Yeah…that was before a raging jealous ancient boyfriend made an appearance. It’s not like we could have known, right?”

“Exactly, we can’t take the blame for this.” Seto said and noticed a little shine in Yugi’s eyes. “Listen, Yugi…You know how much I hated him before, I mean he beat me at a game I loved to dominate in. He threatened my position.”

“Well you were a cold-hearted idiot…sometimes you still are. But I forgive you.” Seto rolled his eyes. “I can understand…But…I just have to know. How did you guys wind up going out?”

Seto sighed. “We weren’t going out. They were these little flings. Honestly Yugi, I look like Seth, you put two and two together.”

Yugi couldn’t help but laugh. “Looks like he used you for that too huh?”

“Don’t even start…” Seto growled. His features softened however and he looked up. “It was after one of our duels. He collapsed afterwards and I asked him what his problem was-.”

“I imagine this being much different.”

“Think what you will, but he looked completely distraught, Yugi. Unbelievably I asked what was wrong, like you can’t comprehend. He told me he missed Egypt, didn’t know why he was still alive, blah blah.”

“I love your empathy.” Yugi snipped.

“Whatever. After that it just happened. Whenever he felt like he wanted to go back he came to me. I gave him that link to the past…you have no idea how much I regret it right now.” Seto said.

“Seto Kaiba, with regrets, the world is ending.” Yugi chuckled.

“Well it’s not like you did anything to help him.” Seto immediately regretted saying that. ‘That was low and a cheap-shot…whatever.’

“Yeah I know…”

“We never would have worked out Yugi, me and Yami. Nothing would have come out of a relationship like what me and him had.”

“I really want to believe you. I do. But Seto, you just bought a perfume for 1.5 million. If that isn’t caring about someone I don’t know what is.” Yugi said.

Seto shrugged. “I’ve got to start making things up to you somehow right?” Yugi stilled. “I know, it’s not the right way. But I have it in my best interest to help you and whatever cost. Call it a friend helping out a friend thing if you will…”

Yugi slowly came out of his shock and smiled brightly. “You think of me as a friend?”

Seto groaned. “Whatever…”

“Thank you Seto.”

“Besides,” Seto began and readied himself for sleep. “There’s someone else that I truly feel for. And for that person…I have a lot to make up for.”

Yugi felt the sincerity in Seto’s words. Finally feeling tired Yugi too got ready for bed. “Can I ask who it is?”

“Shut up and go to sleep. Therapy session is over.”

Yugi laughed.

Shadi had woken them early in the morning to travel before it got too hot. Joey complained that his sleep schedule was ruined beyond repair. Mai agreed and vouched for sleep on the plane. None of them complained as they made it back to the city and started their journey back to Domino City. They slept for the entire ride.

Yugi smiled as they met his grandfather and Tristan. He hugged his grandpa tightly. “I take it you got it?” Yugi nodded.

“Only two more Gramps,” Joey cheered.

“You look like the walking dead guys.” Tristan said as they made their way to the cars.

“You would too if you just went to Egypt, crossed the desert to a black market bidding camp, camped out under the stars, and then came back.” Mai said.

“Aw, you guys are so lucky.” Tea said. “That sounds so romantic. Something like that would be nice with Yami.”

Seto shook his head. “And you wonder why we left you.”

Yugi chuckled. He paused however when a chill ran over his skin. Screams resounded through the airport and black swirls erupted all over the building. Monsters surfaced from the black depths and began shredding through towards them. Amongst the chaos Yugi noticed Seth. He was snapped out of his reverie when he was pulled towards an exit. Mai had grabbed him and the gang had begun to run. “This guy is really catching on to us.” Tristan shouted.

“We have to get out of here.” Tea screamed.

“Listen, Yug needs ta get outta here. Seto and I can distract him.” Joey said quickly. “Alright, Yug?”

Yugi looked at him and reluctantly nodded.

“Alright, Tristan, you and Mai get Yug and Gramps out. Tea…do what you do best. But don’t follow after Yug.”

“Wow, the mutt has brains.” Seto said which earned him glares.

“Joey has a point Tea. You might get possessed again.” Mai said and ran with Tristan and Solomon. Yugi gave Joey one more look and they sped away. Tea flew down a different route and vanished.

“So, what now mutt?” Seto asked as they came to a halt.

“We run in another direction too.” He said.

“What good will that accomplish? He’ll just go after Yugi.”

“Then we stop!” Joey said and turned.

“You’re losing brownie points.” Seto growled but they were soon faced with monsters and Seth.

“Finally we meet again, descendant.” Seth said.

“Shut up.” Seto grunted.

“What makes you think you can stop me?”

Seto mustered up whatever shadow power he had. He would have been able to do it better at full rest, but this was an emergency.

“Oh, you mean to attack?” Seth said amused.

A rift ripped through the ceiling and the blue eyes dropped down and roared. “Joey, you better run. I know you can’t do anything.”

“You kiddin’ me? I came up with dis plan and I’ll stick wit’ it.” Joey said.

“Your funeral.”

“Indeed.” Seth agreed. Blue eyes engaged itself in combat and Seto pulled Joey away from the battle. They didn’t make it very far when the ground cracked beneath their feet. Joey edged backwards and Seto was on the other side. Seto’s eyes widened as Joey was blown away by Seth.

“Blue eyes!” He called out but the giant dragon was forced into the ground. More tremors and cracks broke the ground and Seto had to move further back.

Joey shook his head and painfully got to his feet. He faced Seth and cowered back. “If one of you die, will that deter the little one from his quest?”

Joey smirked. “Yugi will never give up.” Seth’s smirk vanished and anger masked his face. He forced Joey back and gripped his neck. Joey cried breathlessly out as his arm snapped up the pressure of Seth’s hand.

“Joey! Blue Eyes help!” Seto called out. He shook off the dread and focused on his shadow powers again. “I know there isn’t much, but there has got to be something left.”

Joey felt his body weakening as he gasped desperately for air. Seth shook his head and threw Joey back into the rubble. He tried to dodge a new Blue Eyes and vanished into thin air.

Seto threw up. He was weak. Pulling himself together the monsters vanished slowly and he made his way into the rubble. He could hear moans of pain from people throughout the airport. He finally found the blond haired teen and rushed over to him. “Joey!” He paused and visually checked him over. Joey was breathing weakly. He was relieved at that. “Joey?” He noticed blood coming from his arm and his head. “You’re going to be okay. I promise.”

“Seto…” Joey wheezed and collapsed.

“No, Joey you have to stay awake!” Seto said urgently. He then noticed a piece of metal stuck in Joey’s side. “Shit…Joey, Joey?!” Pain-filled brown eyes stared up at him. “You’ll be okay, but you need to stay awake.”

“It hurts…so much…” Tears fell down Joey’s cheeks. “Hey…Seto…”

“What?”

“Yugi’s…gonna be alright-.”

“Don’t talk like that. You’ll see to it yourself that he’ll be alright.” Seto said and looked around. He knew he shouldn’t move Joey, but he didn’t have a choice right now.

“I…” Joey’s whole body tensed as he coughed roughly. Blood splattered onto Seto’s face as he held him close.

“This is going to hurt Joey…but I’m going to get you to a hospital.”

Joey didn’t respond. Seto’s heart began to race at the paling face. Joey’s labored breathing bellowed into his ears. He moved as fast and as carefully as he could. Joey went limp in his arms in moments. “Joey!”

*

Yugi sat with his friends. The waiting room was hectic with people who wanted to know the condition of family members. Ishizu had come soon after. Seto was next to him still covered with blood. “Yugi, I know that you are waiting to hear what happens to Joey, but you need to move. Seth is on your trail and you are not safe here. We can protect the items.”

“One of my friends is…Isis, this isn’t good!” Yugi cried.

“You knew how dangerous this was going to be when you started!” She argued back. “He did it so you could make it away safely. He did it so you could continue. No matter how heartless this may be, you need to keep moving!”

“Isis is right Yugi.” Tristan said. “I’ll make sure to look after him. He’ll make it out of this Yugi.” Yugi looked around at his friends and rested his gaze on his grandfather.

He nodded to him. “He would want you to keep going, Yugi.”

“Perhaps, it’s just that it became more dangerous than we thought.” Seto said and pat Yugi on the shoulder. “He really means to stop us Yugi…but we don’t know how to stop him. The main thing is to get Yami away from him, before he can cause more harm.”

“Yami is safe. Well…at least that’s what Mana told me.” Yugi said. “I haven’t heard from her in a while though. I hope things are alright.”

“Perhaps that’s why we’ve been attacked so much.” Seto said thoughtfully.

“Yeah, he’s probably trying to get information out of you.” Mai said in agreement. “How are we even going to defeat this guy?”

“We’ll deal with that when the time comes. Right now we have to complete our first task. Bringing Yami back into this world,” Isis reminded them. “You have to go to Britain and retrieve the armour Yugi.”

“Why can’t it just be sent here?” He asked.

Isis couldn’t help laughing. “It’s for pick up only. A dear friend of mine has been keeping it safe for you. He’s waiting for your arrival. Now, will you go?”

Yugi sighed heavily. He wanted to stay in Domino to make sure Joey would be alright, that he would make it through surgery just fine, but everyone was right. He had to keep moving. He would probably put Joey in more danger if he stayed in Domino, let alone the hospital itself. “I’ll go, to keep Joey safe, and to get Yami back.” He said determined once more.

Isis smiled. “Good, you leave in an hour.”

And merrily we roll along. Hopefully the next chapter will be better and as always I apologize for the typos. Don't forget me, I haven't forgotten you readers!
