Keep It Goin’ On

Seto Kaiba growled in the back of his limo, unsatisfied with the project proposal he was reading. He couldn’t remember who had hired these college graduates, but he would make the person regret it. The kids were all book smarts and no practical application and he couldn’t afford to have that sort of stupidity running around his corporation.

Damn it, I’d rather read TPS reports… He shoved the packet back in its binder and flung the binder across the limo, pinching the bridge of his nose.

He couldn’t believe he’d taken two weeks off school to work closely with his “associates” on this crap. It was a colossal waste of time, not that he wanted to deal with the lack luster drama of high school either, but at least he could have fun making asses of his teachers and peers.

He glared out of his tinted windows and wondered if he should spend the rest of his weekend catching up on school work. The CEO had agreed to make an appearance in the classrooms of Domino High Monday and it would be a good idea to show up with the back log of research papers and math problems he owed the faculty.

I suppose.

The ice eyed youth nearly laughed out loud when he caught sight of a most peculiar occurrence. He ordered his driver to pull over and got out of his limo.

He was going to love the explanation for this one.

“Yugi, tell me runt, why are you assaulting a mail box with your feet? They cancel your favorite cartoons?”

Yugi gave the mail box one last kick and glared at Kaiba. “Tell me Kaiba, they remove the stick from your ass yet?”

The CEO frowned. He knew there must be something really wrong if the shorter duelist had the audacity to insult him back. He crossed his arms and watched Yugi huff and puff with exertion.

“What happened?”

Yugi’s expression softened and he ran his hand through his spikes. Should he really tell Kaiba what was going on?

Though and he and Kaiba were “rivals” the two boys weren’t technically friends, however, Yugi knew that if he could be serious with anyone, it was Seto Kaiba.

“I…hit Yami.”

“And?” The taller youth motioned towards his limo. It wouldn’t do for someone of his significance to be seen conversing on the street like a lowlife.

Yugi got in and Kaiba followed, shutting the door and ordering his driver to go but to “take the long way”. Once Yugi was comfortable and done sliding childishly around on the leather seats, the violet eyed boy began to speak again.

“I just got so mad Seto. I punched him.”

“Why?” he was truly interested. It didn’t seem like someone like Yugi would lose his cool out of the context of “My Friends are in Danger/You’re Trying to Kill my Grandpa Again”. “He beat you at a duel?”

Yugi rolled his eyes. “Can you just –Listen Seto.”

He threw up his hands and settled in for the ride. He’d keep his derisive comments to himself until after the story was over.

“Okay…this is what happened…”

Fifteen minutes later, Seto Kaiba didn’t know how to feel after hearing Yugi’s story, but he did decide to offer some condolence.

“I’m sorry that happened. If you’d like, I could easily have Anzu arrested for some form of prostitution and Bakura thrown in jail for petty theft.” He undid his tie and looked Yugi in the eyes. “I know what it’s like to have your private life scrutinized. Just say the word and I’ll put those assholes in the poor house –”

Yugi laughed. “That isn’t necessary Seto.” He looked out of the window. “ I forgive Bakura. He’s a thief after all. He thought he was getting to Yami by doing it..and Anzu…well…”

Seto smirked. “She tried to come to me with it you know, asking if I knew a good printer or some trash like that. Apparently, she just wanted to give me a blow job if I gave her a ride to Kinkos.”

Yugi covered his mouth and hid his giggle. It was clear that Anzu didn’t know too much about Kaiba. If the teen was going to get serviced, it would be by someone a little better than her.

A comfortable silence set in and the two road together amiably until Yugi spoke.

“Where are we going?”

“My mansion.”

Yugi looked Seto in the eyes and the CEO stared back, his mouth set in a determined line.

“I would have never done those things to you Yugi.”

The spike haired teen looked away, a slight blush on his cheeks. “Seto, come on, we had this conversation. I…I just don’t feel the same okay?”

Kaiba crossed his arms. “You didn’t even try Yugi! All I wanted was a few dates and you wouldn’t even agree to that –”

“I told you why Seto!” he interrupted. “You know why!”

“Yeah! You had a ridiculous crush on Yami! You know he can never love you Yugi and after this stunt I don’t know why you even hold on to him –”

“I’m not holding on to him! I don’t even like him anymore!”

They glared at each other until Seto looked away, picking imaginary lint off his suit pants.

“It wouldn’t be so awful being with me is what I’m saying.”

“I know…” the boy said softly. “But, I dunno Seto, I think there’s someone else now.”

The CEO snorted. “There’s always someone else.”

The limo slowed to a stop and Yugi sighed. “So, now that we’re here, what are we doing?”

“We? There is no ‘we’ Yugi. You said so yourself.”

“God Seto! Why are you always like this! Can’t we even be friends?” Yugi watched the CEO leave the limo.

“He’ll take you wherever you want to go –”

Yugi jumped out of the limo. “No! You’re going to talk to me! Don’t be like this Seto!”

“Like what? You think you can just keep rejecting me –”

“I’m not rejecting you!” He followed the taller youth as they made their way inside his grandiose mansion. “I just want to be friends! I know you can do that Kaiba. It’s not out of your reach!”

Seto snorted again and didn’t speak again until they reached his office on the third floor. “Don’t call me Kaiba.”

Yugi sighed, shaking his head. It was going to be an interesting night.

Ryou took several deep breaths before gathered his courage to reach out and knock on the door. When he did, the entrance to the Kame game shop flew open, revealing a wide eyed Yami.

“Yugi!” he saw it was Ryou and looked slightly disappointed. “Oh, hello Ryou.”

“H-hi Yami…is-is Yugi here?”

The spirit shook his head. “I’m sorry Little One. Yugi and I had another fight and he ran off.”

Ryou saw the bruise on the Pharaoh’s cheek and before he knew it, reached up to touch it. Yami flinched and Ryou yanked his hand back.

“Oh gosh, I’m so sorry Yami!”

“It’s nothing. It will heal quickly. He lost his temper with me and, well, let’s just say he lost it.”

Ryou nodded and the two stood there for a bit looking at each other. Yami’s face broke into an embarrassed grin and he stepped aside, showing Ryou in. “Please, come in.”

“Oh no, I couldn’t I –”

“It’s okay. This way, when Yugi comes home, we can all talk and say what needs to be said.”

The doe eyed hikari nodded and timidly went inside, squeaking as Yami shut the door forcefully, jarring the bell. The spirit smiled.

“Jumpy?”

The youth nodded, smiling widely. Yami smiled back.

“It’s good to see you smile. You seem to have been at a loss all this week.”

“Yugi’s my –he’s my best friend and I really want to fix this you know?”

Yami indicated that they should go upstairs to the living room and led the white haired youth there, talking all the way.

“I know how you feel. Yugi’s so hurt. I haven’t been able to reach him through mind link all week.” He offered Ryou a seat and took one himself, next to the sensitive boy. “I want to fix things as well, but, I have a very hard time…with apologizing. You see when I was alive…I was always right, right or wrong. I’ve had trouble learning that I don’t really have the same ‘power’ I did.”

Ryou nodded. “But Yugi will forgive you. You’re his Yami. If you ask him, there’s no way he can say no.”

“Sure there is Ryou. Yugi is his own person. He has a right to say no, even to me.”

“But…you’re his yami. He has to listen to you.”

“No, he doesn’t.” Yami looked Ryou square in the eyes. “Who told you a hikari always obeys? Did Bakura tell you that?”

“He says that –that he knows what’s good for me and that I have to obey him.”

Yami scowled. Is that what he’s been telling this boy? He’s damn lucky I’m still not Pharaoh.

“Ryou,” he turned to face the boy on the couch. “Is that what was going on behind the school today?”

“No!” the boy spat. “Bakura was just trying to teach me a lesson! It’s not my place to yell at him in public or kick him out of his own house!”

“WHAT?” Yami was seething. “Abuse is not ‘teaching’ Ryou! He was trying to rape you!”

Ryou shook his head adamantly. “No! He just wanted to –he just wanted show me affection!” He nodded, mostly to himself. “Bakura loves me. He’d never hurt me. He even asked me if we could!”

The spirit was at a loss. “He what? What does he want you to do!?”

At this, the British teen turned crimson. “He wants us…to be one…to be intimate.”

“After he burns your arm and cuts you up!?”

“NO!” Ryou shouted, fisting his hands in his hair. “My Yami loves me! He loves me! I do it to myself! I have choices! I just don’t make them fast enough!”

Yami grabbed the boy and shook him. “Ryou! Has Bakura raped you before?”

The boy began to cry. “No! He’d never hurt me!”

He wasn’t getting anywhere, so he tried another way. “Have you been one with Bakura before?”

The boy shook his head. “No…but it’s getting hard to say no.” Ryou blushed. “I mean, Malik says he stopped saying no to his yami a long time ago…but that they don’t anymore, because he likes my yami now.”

The Pharaoh gaped. This was sick.

“What is Bakura doing to you!?”

Ryou pulled away and held himself. “Nothing!” He glared at Yami. “Mind your own business! I do it to myself!”

“Ryou! You have to stop this! He’s hurting you!”

“No he isn’t! He’s my yami! It’s his way of showing me love! You show your love to Yugi my treating him like a child and Bakura…does his best to make me strong!”

“Ryou…” all Yami could do at this point was hold the boy who stiffened in his arms. He held him tighter and rubbed his back.

“Pain is not love. What I do to Yugi…is wrong as well. And we’re going to change that…”

“But…” the boy whimpered. “He loves me, right?”

“Shhh…you’re not going back there tonight.”

Ryou nodded and laid his head on Yami’s shoulder, feeling safe.

Yugi giggles and ate another Sour Punch Straw. “SO why don’t you fire him?”

“Yugi, if I listened to you, there’d be no one at Kaiba corp. You seem to think I just fire people because I can.”

The teen sat up off the office’s leather chaise lounge and grinned. “But don’t you do just that?”

Seto threw an empty Pocky box at him and went back to typing on his laptop. Yugi ducked it and smiled.

He’d been at the CEO’s house for hours now, conversing with the teen while he caught up on his work and sharing gossip from school. He was glad to spend sometime with the other teen as of late, he’d seemed to have lost his surplus of friends.

“Hey Seto, where’s Mokuba?”

“At a sleepover birthday party. Ridiculous if you ask me. He got all giddy because it’s going to be ‘a boy girl party’.”

Yugi smiled. “He’s growing up!”

“Don’t remind me.” He typed a little slower and watched Yugi over the top of his computer. Wasn’t it a little odd for the world’s top duelist to be lounging around in his office.

“Yugi…”

“Hm?” Yugi ate another straw, thinking he should lay off the sugar if he wanted to go to bed on time.

“It’s almost ten. Don’t you need to call someone?”

“Like who?”

“Your Grandpa?”

The boy shrugged and reclined on the chaise again. “Don’t have a cell phone.”

“Use my phone then.”

“I don’t want to call home Seto. Get off it.”

“Hn.” Seto continued typing until an empty soda can bounced off his head. “What the fuck!?”

Yugi giggled and began walking out of the room. “I’ll see you Monday Seto! Tell Mokuba I said ‘hey’!”

He left the room and Seto smoothed his hair, muttering about angry leprechauns.
