Chapter 11: Dillusional

Yugi was walking with Yami in the halls when Yami finally spoke.
“Yugi…is something bothering you? You’ve been quiet all morning.”

Yugi looked up then back down thinking.
“I’m fine, I guess…”

“You guess?”
Yami stopped and stood in front of Yugi putting his hands on his shoulders. Yugi turned his head to the side. Yami was hurt but didn’t show it. He brought his hand up and turned Yugi’s chin toward him.

“Yugi, something is wrong and you’re not telling me. Why? Why won’t you tell me?”

Yugi looked into the other’s eyes and could see the mask he was hiding behind. He saw the hurt and immediately felt guilty that the hurt his lover felt, he had caused. He sighed.
“Yami…I…I mean…umm…”

“You what? Please tell me.”

“I just…didn’t sleep…well. I had a bad dream.”
‘Okay, so I’m being fallacious but I can’t have him worry, not yet. Not when I don’t even know if it’s anything to woory about.’

“Could you tell me?”

‘Oh-no…’ Yugi thought. ‘What do I say?!’
“Umm…it’s nothing. Really. Just spooked me.”

“Yugi,” Yami’s hold tightened almost painfully as Yugi’s eyes showed the slight fear. Yami’s grim loosened as his hands fell to his sides, his eyes hidden by his hair.

“Yami? Yami, I…”

“I will be…around. If you need me.”

Yugi watched as his love walked past him with a great weight in his heart.
‘What have I done…’ he thought with tears as the child again kicked. Yugi looked down as he rubbed his stomach.
“I don’t understand…why do the fates do this to us?”
**

Behind a corner, Unat stood listening.
‘A fight? The perfect couple?! Never would have thought.’
He again watched as Yugi, sulking, started walking in the opposite direction than the pharaoh. He looked in one direction…then the other. Which to follow? He hit his head with his hand.
‘Duh! Yugi! He is the biggest part in our plan, after all.’

He looked from side to side. When no one came, he quickly followed Yugi’s footsteps. He watched the younger take a left, then a right, then yet another left. ‘Man! I hope I’ll be able to find my way back.’ Finally, Yugi came to a door where he knocked.

“High Priest Seto?” he asked quietly. “Seto, if you’re there, I have to ask you something.”
He sighed.

“Looking for someone?” a voice said behind him as he turned.
**

Yami stomped down the hallway.

‘Maybe I shouldn’t have scared him like that.’
He stopped and stood staring at the ground. His fists clenched.
“But Why wouldn’t he tell me?”

“I suppose you’re referring to Yugi.”

Yami looked up to see Seto Kaiba.

“What wouldn’t he tell you?”

Yami again looked down and sighed.
“He had been really quiet since this morning. I asked him if anything was wrong. He said that he had a bad dream. It unnerved him a bit.”

Kaiba was now intrigued.
“A dream? What happened?”

“That’s the thing. He wouldn’t tell me. I don’t know why…but it hurt.”

Kaiba looked at his aching cousin with concern.
“Hey, don’t take it the wrong way. For all you know it could have been nothing to worry about.”

“Then why didn’t he tell me that?” Yami asked.

“Look, let’s just go and talk about this in my quarters. I’m sure we can sort this out.”

Yami looked hesitant but nodded as he accompanied his relation to his room.
*

The excursion was silent as they both thought about the matter at hand. As they reached the desired room, they heard the sound of voices:…two…male.

“Who could that be?” Yami asked quietly.

“I don’t know, but I do wish to find out.”

Yami nodded and let Kaiba open his door as their eyes widened.

“What’s going on?!” Yami said worriedly as he saw Yugi crying, a pair of hands on his shoulders.

“Yami… we were just talking about…”
“Stuff,” Yugi interrupted Joey’s statement.

“…stuff?” Yami confirmed, hurt yet again.

“You haven’t told him yet, have you?” Joey asked softly.

Yugi hung his head as it shook slowly.

“Told me what?”

Joey looked up to him.

“Tell…me…what?”

Joey looked over to the teary occupant then back to Yami.
“Yugi had a dream…that was pretty bad.”

“Bad?” Kaiba asked. “What happened?”

“I don’t know.”

All eyes turned to Yugi.

Silence.

Pure…

Agonizing…

Silence.

“A man…I…I couldn’t see him…he…”
Sobs racked his shoulders a new wave of tears flowed down his cheeks.

Yami ran over to him and wrapped his arms around him. Yugi shoved him off.
“Let go of me!”

Yami sat, eyes wide.
“…Yugi…?”

“I won’t let you take it! This baby’s mine!”
Yugi ran out of the room in his fury.

“What the hell…? Yugi!” Yami ran to the door way when Kaiba stopped him with his voice. Yami turned, eyes concerned and perplexed.

“Something’s wrong with him…he’s…I think he’s…”

“He’s WHAT?!” Yami demanded.

“Possessed.”

“…no…” Yami whispered.

“That’s what my vision said. When the person was going through all that pain and stopped moving, it meant that this was happening. The gods are putting the two of you through a test. If you don’t somehow treat Yugi, make up with him or whatever is needed, the prophecy will remain unfulfilled with his death. If you do bring him back from this darkness, than you will be proven worthy, Yugi will live, and the all powerful ruler will prevail.”

“Are you serious?” Joey asked, panicked.

“I would never lie about something about this. This is reality. We need to figure this out…what did he mean? He said that he wouldn’t let you take the baby. He saw a shadowed figure in his dream. And that the baby was his. My guess is that the man in the dream did something to him and the baby and in his delusional state, mistook you as the man.”

“So what can we do?!” Yami demanded.

“We have to convince him that you are not the evil man and that you are who you are and that you love him and he loves you.”

“Just how do we do that?” Joey asked. “I doubt he’ll be up for a group hug.”
**

Yugi ran down the passage way.

His breath fast…

His feet pounding…

His thoughts ongoing…

‘He can’t have it! He can’t have my baby! I may have taken something from him, but he won’t take this from me! I sawre it by the heads of Ra and all his decendents!’
**

Unat smiled.
‘Even more magnificent…’
