She was a vision of loveliness and he couldn't help but fall for her. His Catherine had indeed been like an angel sent straight out of heaven to help him get over the death of his dearest Cecilia. His angel had left another male to be with him and he did his best to ignore that she once loved another. That she once kissed another male as sweetly as she kissed him in the mornings.
He wanted to ignore that she was younger than him and was most likely here because he could provide the very luxuries that women accross the board wanted. He ignored the fact that she may have still had feelings for the other male. He did not think of the fact that a younger male would have more stamina than him in the bedroom and he ignored that she wanted a child with him and he couldn't have any.
Yes, if he just continued to ignore things that happened with them then he would find true happiness. Cecilia would have wanted him to be happy and to find new love. She would have wanted him to be able to spend the rest of his days with someone who truly cared for him. That was all Cecilia would want for him from the heavens she watched over him from. His lovely Cecilia must be excited that he found such a lovely replacement for her, even though nothing could truly replace her.
So his routine was the same everyday. He wanted to remain blissfully oblivious to everything Catherine did. He knew if he let himself think about it then he would hate himself. Pegasus would hate himself for the shell he had become. For the fool that he knew he must be to allow this farce to continue on. He closed his eyes trying to imagine how much he wanted to just wish it all away and be back with his sweet sweet Cecilia once again. However, he had made his bed and as any man his age he was going to lie in it.
On that day, his face projected joyfulness. Why? Because he had just found out wonderful news. He was going to be a father. His lovely Catherine was expecting twins and was three months along. It didn't want to register in his mind that they hadn't had sex in three months. It didn't want to register in his mind that even if they did, he was unable to have children with anyone. He refused to listen to his mind when the memory tried to surface of why they hadn't had sex in such a long time.
He refused to remember that at the height of their passion, she had called another male's name. No, he wouldn't think about it. If he did, he would have to face the truth that so many people could see. Instead, he smiled and threw a large celebration for his wife. During the celebration, he ignored the male who had come to the party. He ignored how they had gone off together in private not to be seen for no less than an hour.
However, once everyone had gone home and Catherine had gone to her rooms. He did not ignore the comforting hand on his shoulder, nor did he ignore the sad look in his guardian angel's face as he cried. Catherine was what he needed to get through these days with until he could rejoin his Cecilia.
