Knowledge is Power

I'm back again! Alright, as usual, I'd like to thank the raters and reviewer(s), so thanks for your kind encouragement! Anyway, here's the next chapter. It's a little dialogue heavy, so err, sorry if it's a bit shoddy.

It was hard to focus on school when so many other things invaded his thoughts. Chazz hardly copied down a note all day, and the few he managed were incoherent and disorderly. On top of that, he had to avoid looking to the left, as today his tutor was causing him to fluster.

With only minutes left, Chazz wondered if he could fake sick and get out of Bastion’s tutoring clutches for today. After all, if he thought clearly about what he saw that morning there would be no need to even fake it.

Right on cue, the bell rang and everyone left. The slifer student sighed as he knew what was coming next.

“Are you ready for today’s lesson?” The intellectual ra asked. For what reason did he ask that anyway? It’s not like Chazz could just say ‘no’ and get on with his life.

“What do you think?” The black clad slifer barked back. He was extra careful not to look directly at the ra.

“Come with me then, there are a few students in detention today, so I’m not allowed to stay here.”

Well that’s just great! Chazz was counting on Alexis being there to help him get his mind off of everything. How could he possibly straighten out his thoughts now? “Fine!” He mumbled in response, standing up.

Of all the places to go today, this had to be the worst possible one of all. There he was, sitting on a stool in his tutor’s dorm room. Apparently, the walls became too saturated with scribbles, so the obsessive compulsive ra had to paint over them. All the while he preached facts to his student, who only growled out responses when needed.

“Well look who’s invading my territory! You got some nerve showing your face here!” A childish voice blared out. Oh no, that could only belong to one person.

“Listen you! I don’t want to be here anymore than you want me to be here! This is already annoying enough without you, so leave me alone!” Chazz whispered angrily. He didn’t want to make his tutor think he was going insane.

“Don’t you tell me what to do! You’re on my turf! You’ll listen to me!” Curran stated with her arms folded.

Chazz let out a growl that caught the attention of his tutor. “I’m sorry, is there a problem?” The ra asked.

“NO! Keep yammering so we can end this quicker!” The student replied.

“This is good though, why don’t you dance for me? That should be entertaining.” The contemplating Curran stated.

“Shut up! You’re distracting me!”

“Oh, of course, I wouldn’t want to divert your attention from your boyfriend. Pardon me lover boy.”

Chazz whipped right around and yelled out, “he is NOT my BOYFRIEND!” Uh-oh, that was a bad idea.

“Are you feeling alright Chazz? Do you need a break?” A very puzzled Bastion asked, solely out of concern of course.

The slifer didn’t move. He didn’t turn around and he didn’t say anything. What kind of explanation could get him out of this corner he’d backed himself into? As soon as he found a way to recover, Curran would DIE.

“Chazz? Is something wrong?” The tutor said, now getting up to investigate.

The student in question finally decided to respond. “No, no, I’m fine. Keep teaching now.” His face was now completely red. He spoke in a weak, flat tone.

“Are you sure?” The tutor asked, feeling his student’s forehead. “You’re burning up. Maybe you should take the rest of the day off.”

“Yeah, you’re right. Um, do you mind if I borrow this deck here? I think I’d like to fully understand your strategy for that test.” Kind of a good lie. Maybe the flustered slifer could destroy Curran and replace her by tomorrow so he wouldn’t notice.

“Sure. Call me when you’re feeling better, ok?”

“Yeah, sure, whatever.” The slifer said, taking his leave and heading for his room.

“That went over well. I think you made some serious progress.” Curran stated comically.

“You! I haven’t even decided what I’m going to do to you yet! Nothing seems terrible enough!”

“Heh, you don’t have the balls to do anything to me. You should be thanking me, now he knows you like guys.”

“I do NOT! And even if I did, he’d be the last guy I’d even consider.”

“Really? I don’t believe you.”

“I don’t care! If this is revenge....”

“It’s not revenge. I want you to make mr. Misawa happy. He’s lonely you know. It’s sad.”

Did she say what he thought she said? If she’s willing to spill secrets like that, maybe he could press her for more information. If she kept talking, maybe he could forgive her for earlier. “How do you know that?” He asked with a fake scowl, clearly interested.

“Well you know. He’s not very well known around the school. People often forget him. He doesn’t actually have any friends. I wish he could hear me so I could play with him.”

Interesting. “So you think he wants me to be his friend? He hates me as much as I hate him.”

“No he doesn’t! I can tell he really likes you. So how ‘bout I make you a deal, I’ll never torment you again if you become good friends and make him happy.”

“Sorry, no deal. The Chazz only has eyes for Alexis.”

“Fine, suit yourself pretty boy. But you’ll regret it, trust me!”

It was night now, and Chazz was wide awake in bed. Curran had given Chazz a lot to think about. If what she said was true, then maybe he could somehow use this to his advantage. He’d sleep good tonight, especially since Curran was kept busy whipping at the Ojamas and not annoying him. Maybe she wasn’t such a bad duel spirit to have around after all.
