Chapter 10: Confrontation II

During lunch, I completely skip the cafeteria and go straight to the library.

"Jounouchi-kun?"

"Hai, Mizuno-sensei?"

"Are you looking for Kaiba-kun?"

"Yes. I am. Is he here?"

"No, today he said he would go to work and left shortly before lunch."

Damn!

"Thanks." I say leaving the library and go to the cafeteria.

So much for trying to make amends.

I grab a lunch and sit with Yugi, Honda, and Anzu.

"Hey, are you ok?" asks Honda.

"Yes. I am." I reply rather blandly.

Why did I just stand there? After all we did together over the holidays... After I told
him that I loved him. Why did he leave? Why did he ask that question?

"You don't look or sound ok. You're usually so animated. Now you look like a
plain black and white picture." comments Yugi.

"No. Nothing is wrong. I just thought I was going to get some tutoring time in with
Kaiba during lunch, but he went to KaibaCorp before lunch."

"Oh yea, the Trig test is coming up. But that's next week. You have plenty of time to
study." says Honda.

"I just like to be ready. That's all." I say.

"That's not all. Something is really bothering you and it goes much deeper than just
studying and being ready for a test." says Anzu as she hits the nail on the head.

I finally make it to Domino Square Apartments. I hope Ryou is here. I see his car.

*knock knock*

"Who is it?"

"Jounouchi."

He opens the door and embraces me at first glance.

"I'm so glad to see you Jou! Come on in!"

I follow him to the living room.

"How are things going with you since..."

He hesitates.

"You can say it. It doesn't hurt as much as it did the first 2 and a half weeks."

"Sorry for the way this place is looking. You know I'm usually very neat."

"Nah, it's ok. My old apartment looked worse."

He laughs. "Malik was over with his nephews and they're BAD to the bone."

"Mahado and Karim are a handful I bet."

"Yea, Mahado's 7 and Karim's 5, but they're still stuck on 'terrible-two'."

I laugh. Yea, they are that bad. It's good to talk to someone. A friend who just
wants to make me laugh through the tough times.

After school I decide to go to KaibaCorp to see Seto personally. I take his private
entrance and elevator that leads directly into his office.

I walk into the office and see Seto looking at me.

"So, what brings you here? Aren't you ashamed of me?"

"No, Seto, I'm not. I just froze up when you asked me that."

"Right...and I froze each and every time I gave you head."

"This goes beyond our sexual life. Doesn't it?"

He sighs then looks at his computer screen.

"I'm sorry for what happened...for what I said. Or didn't say. What do you want me
to say Seto!?"

"You know that answer. When you find it, come and see me again Katsu-chan. I'll
be at home after 6 or you can just tell me at school tomorrow ok."

"What is it?! Do you want me to give you head?! I've never done it before. I don't
want to perform less than what you can do."

"This isn't about us having sex. It's not about you giving me a head job. It's about something
more than that. When you find the answer. Then you can talk to me. Now, I would
like for you to leave before KaibaCorp security makes you leave."

I turn and leave quietly and as quickly as I had came. What's the answer he's looking
for? I don't know.

As I walk home I wonder about Seto and what he wants from me...the answer. Does
he want to hear how much I care for him and love him?

I sit with Ryou for about another hour or so, then leave. When I get to my car, I
notice that it's leaning to one side.

Are my tires flat?

I walk around to the low side and see two knives stuck in my tires. I know who did
it.

'I don't want you to go to jail or get hurt.'

Damn.

I remove the knives from my tires and I go back upstairs to Ryou's apartment. May as
well stay the night.

I call Izono and tell him that I won't be home tonight and to have breakfast ready when I
get home in the morning.

"Who could have done something like that Jou?"

"I know who. But, I'm not going to bother them, yet."

"No! Don't do that! You know what happened to Akefia! He called himself trying to get
revenge, but he ended up getting killed! Six years ago it happened, but I think about it
each and every day!" yells Ryou as tears swell his eyes.

He wipes his eyes as he remembers what happened to his older brother.

"I have something for you to sleep in if you want. You know where everything is, just
make yourself at home."

"Thanks, Ryou."
