I do not own YuGiOh!, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
And the plotting continues
Author's Note - Oh man, I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve touched my works. I wish I could promise that I’ll be a bit more consistent but as hectic as life is, I can‘t do that right now. I’ve gotten confirmation on what the health problem is, and that keeps my writing abilities reduced. Add to that personal issues and yeah, not enough motivation to keep a wombat-muse alive.
Thanks to all who have been waiting so patiently for me. Love to my heart sisters, they know who they are!
Disclaimer - I do not own YuGiOh. That privilege is held by Kazuki Takahashi, lucky dog.
Chapter Ten - And the plotting continues
The last few days of the week blurred by for Yugi. His friends had managed to keep his attention focused on his new goals and now that he was paying attention to his surroundings, he couldn't help but notice how Sachi kept running into the worst luck he'd ever seen. The smallest hikari had a feeling he knew what was behind her bad luck as well but kept his suspicions to himself. The last thing he wanted to do was spoil the fun of his friends, even if it meant being at the expense of someone he really didn’t like.
Over the past few days, she'd opened her locker to find the contents covered in ink, homework missing, and worst of all, someone had been spreading rumors about her sexual habits. That had caused an argument between her and Yami, and they'd agreed to use the time of the concert to try to smooth things over.
Knowing what his friends had planned, Yugi didn't let that little piece of news bother him. He would focus on the important things this weekend and deliver a huge shock to his soul partner next week. Since Joey and the others had helped him focus on the goal and not his misery, he'd been able to see things a bit clearer now.
Now, sitting in Seto's den and listening to his friends chatter about various plans, the hikari found himself grateful for the friendships he'd forged over the years. He knew he'd be lost without them and hoped one day that he'd be able to show them just how much all of them meant to him.
"All right, so what's the plan for this weekend and Monday?"
Yugi was pulled from his thoughts when he heard the question and looked over the table he was sitting beside, peering around the boxes of Seto's favorite sushi restaurant to look at the CEO. The azure eyed teenager had ordered enough for a feast, knowing some of the appetites of the group.
Duke dipped a bite into the soy sauce while he answered.
"We have to get Yugi used to the outfits and work with him on poise and attitude. Tristan and I think he also needs a chance to relax and have fun. Yugi, how long has it been since you've done anything outside of school or home?"
The hikari swallowed his bite of spring roll and answered softly, knowing the group wouldn't like his response.
"Yami's birthday party was the last time I went out before the shopping trip you guys took me on. Before that, I think it was when we went to help Seto test those new duel disk systems."
The group stared at him for a moment. It wasn't normal for Yugi to stay at home that much, and it made a lot of them disappointed in themselves that they hadn't seen the problem before now. He seemed to realize what was going on in their minds, and his voice was gentle when he continued on.
"It's okay, guys. Everyone has sweethearts now, so I know group activities are a bit more limited than what we used to have. I just enjoy it when we do get together. Guess I should get out more, huh?"
Joey sighed softly. The problem was, Yugi was shy outside of his friends and going out alone had never been something the tri-colored haired male enjoyed. In fact, he'd seen his best friend literally shut down and move quieter than a mouse through events where he thought he was alone.
At the moment, knowing the problem his friend was facing and hearing all this, the amber eyed blond was feeling rather low. He needed to spend more time with Yugi and quietly resolved to do just that. Given the looks on the others' faces, Joey could tell that they were thinking the same thing.
Seto broke the silence, handing his lover another box of spring rolls.
"I think having fun and relaxing is probably the best idea. We can also work on the points you brought up, Devlin. That way it won't be stressful, and it might just make it easier for him to remember."
Yugi kept eating his dinner as ideas were bounced around for the weekend's activities. All of the ideas sounded like a lot of fun and even though it was supposed to be a 'business' weekend, he was really looking forward to spending time with his friends. Judging from the expressions on their faces, it seemed the others were in agreement with him.
Bakura leaned back in his seat, observing the hikaris as they plotted with their friends. Marik was sitting on the other side of him, and it was obvious he was thinking along the same lines as the former king of thieves. While Yugi spent this weekend developing his confidence, something had to be done about the plans of the pharaoh and his girlfriend. That relationship couldn’t be allowed to try to steady itself.
“I’m thinking we need to go to a concert,” the blond yami murmured and grinned when Bakura was quick to agree.
“Oh yeah. The last thing we need is for them to get close again.”
At Bakura’s words, blue eyes flashed at the two before the CEO tilted his head, gesturing for the pair to follow him out of the room. They followed him, stopping in the hallway once Seto had deemed them to be far enough away from the room.
“What’s on your mind, Kaiba?”
Seto smirked, which made the two yamis snicker mentally. It seemed that the dragon master himself was ready to cause a bit oh mayhem.
“I was wondering if you two were busy tomorrow?”
Marik tilted his head, eyeing the other. This was an odd question to be asked, and it intrigued him.
“Why do you ask?”
The smirk grew, telling them that mayhem was going to be hitting the level of sheer chaos because nothing with that look could be good.
“I had an idea of making trouble for a certain someone. I managed to finagle some tickets to this concert.”
Mahogany eyes widened for a moment before a snicker emerged from Bakura.
“I like how you think. What’s the plan?”
“I had thought to find a way to drag Ryou, Duke, and Yugi out tomorrow night to help with Yugi’s self confidence and help him have fun. While we’re doing that, you two, Malik, Joey, and Tristan will attend the concert and see what kind of mischief you guys can cause,” Seto answered.
“You can get us in?”
Their host for the weekend nodded, flashing tickets once he’d pulled them out of his pocket. Once the two saw them, there was a grin that came from both yamis before Marik continued his questioning.
“Excellent. Any idea on how they’re getting to the concert?”
Seto idly examined the tickets as he answered, hiding the smile that was trying to make itself known.
“I happen to know that she will be borrowing her mother’s vehicle that evening and for some reason, the information on the make, model, and license plate also seems to have come my way as well.”
Bakura broke out into deep chuckles. Oh plotting with the Kaiba genius was fun! He and Marik would have to bring the other into their plans for Sachi since Seto seemed to be able to come up with great information to assist them.
“I like how you think. I believe we could put ideas together for tomorrow night to ruin their little date,” the white haired male said with a huge smirk.
Marik was laughing as well, enjoying this chance to create more mayhem and to do something more to get the stupid girl back for insulting Yugi and their friends.
“We’ll want to grab my hikari, Joey, and Tristan in for the planning. I don’t suppose you have access to the plans to the building?”
The blond yami’s question was answered with a smirk from their host.
“Oh yes, I certainly and I was able to find out where they’ll be sitting too,” he answered, which pleased the two.
“That’ll make things a hell of a lot easier,” Bakura said before his face took on a distant expression.
-“Ryou?”-
The former king of thieves felt his hikari’s presence grow a bit as the younger one responded to his lover.
-”Yes, ‘Kura, what is it?”-
-”Think you can come up with an excuse to send Malik, Tristan, and Joey out here?-
There was a pause as Ryou contemplated the request, and Bakura waited patiently. He knew that would be a bit of a challenge as Yugi was sharper than most.
-”I think so. Have Marik ask for Malik to come out and then I’ll tell Joey and Tristan that Seto needs their help with something. That shouldn’t trigger any alarms. I take it you guys are up to something?”-
There was a soft snort of laughter through their bond before Bakura answered the question. His little one knew him too well.
-”Oh yes. You, Seto, and Duke will be entertaining and distracting Yugi tomorrow while we deal with this so-called date between the bitch and Yami tomorrow.”-
There was a flutter of amusement, making him chuckle a bit. It seemed that his hikari greatly approved of the idea.
-”Not a problem. I almost forgot about that concert. Just do me a favor?”-
-”If I can,”- was the yami’s response.
-”Have fun but don’t get arrested.”-
Bakura broke into guffaws of laughter at that. Oh yes, they would definitely have fun!!
Author’s End Note - Oh wow, I think that moved faster than expected and a good set up for the next chapter. I’m almost dreading what that group is going to do at the concert.
