Dark pasts, Darker Secrets

WELL I'M BACK!!! I got my laptop up and running and decided to re-write this story! It had a lot of flaws in it once I re-read it and I thought that was bad...what does that say about me as a writer? So, hopefully my lovely readers haven't given up on me and come back to me!!!

Ryou stared up at the looming building before him with a feeling of dread and terror. This was why he hated transferring! He hated being the new student. That person always got picked on the most.

Well, he wasn't going to take it here! No sir! With a loud sigh and a gulp, he walked to the doors, intimidated by the sheer size. Struggling a bit he managed to open one of the heavy doors, thinking braver thoughts than what he felt at the moment.

The first thing that hit him were the strong smells of wood tarnish and pine scented cleaners. At least he knew this school was cleaner than the ones he went to before. He stepped further in and on the floor was a symbol of what looked like a boat floating on rough waters, and below it read 'Domino School for Boys'. Deep down, Ryou wished his father were there with him, but at the moment the man was on an excavation somewhere in Egypt. As he was unable to bring his son with him this time, he had the boy enrolled him in this school for the year.

Ryou had put up a fight, but in the end he realized his father was trying to do what he thought was best for him. Traveling all over the world was not good for a boy of his age.He had to have schooling in a stable enviornment.

Sighing once again the boy looked at the letter of acceptance he had been sent, listing all of his classes and rooms.

His first class was well under way now, but he had a strong feeling he had to go. He began walking through the barren halls, the sounds of his footsteps echoing, giving him an eerie feeling. A few minutes later he arrived at the classroom and knocked.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A head of full white hair was all to be seen from the figure sitting at the desk in the back of the room. Slight snoring could be heard from the boy. This year was going to be so boring,damn it! Especially with the teacher he had now. Listening to the man drone on and on put the boy to sleep.
An annoyingly familiar voice nudged itself into Bakura's dozing state, bringing him back to the world. WIth a curse under his breath he looked up to see the teacher glaring at him.
"What?" the boy snapped as he looked up.
The teacher's face stayed angry,but he didn't even come close to looking Bakura in the face, fear evident in his eyes. "I was asking you, what is the answer to the equation on the board?"
Bakura snarled and glared at the blackboard, figuring the problem out in his head easily. "X equals two and three fourths, happy?" The etacher was about to scold him when there was a knock on the door.
Bakura looked at his tanned friend who sat with his head on his desk sonring loudly. Bakura smirked and shook his head, his sharp brown eyes turning to rest on the open door.
It looked like the teacher was talking to someone, but who was it? The elderly man stepped back, his eyes full of smiles as he looked back at the class. That look made Bakura sick.
"Class," he began in a sickeningly sweet voice. "I have just been informed we have a new student joining us." The class came to rapt attention, all but Bakura and Marik.
The teacher stepped away from the door. "Please come in, Ryou." The door was opened fully, and a small white haired boy walked in, his body protraying how nervous he was.
"H-hello, everyone..." the boy smiled a soft smile. "It's nice to meet you." He made a small bow.
"Ryou is originally Japan, but then he moved to England for his father to be closer to his work as an egyptologist."
The class wriled up with noises of students chattering and whispering in awed voices. Bakura rolled his eyes. That was all it took for the sheep to follow the new kid. Give them a piece of juicy talk and they would rip it open like a pack of heyenas.
The teacher cleared his throat and the class fell silent. "Why don't you take a seat in front of Marik? Marik, raise your hand please?" Bakura smirked as he raised his hand, daring the teacher to say anything.
The elder man took a step back, his hand going to his throat. "I...I have to go get your books, Ryou...so please, go to your seat."
Ryou nodded and made his way to where Bakura had his hand raised. Bakura stared at the new boy, smirking when he visibly shuddered. "A-are you Marik?" Bakura shook his head. "Nope. He is."
He jerked his thumb at his friend, who oh-so convienently had his feet up on the desk that was now Ryou's. THe boy frowned.
"Excuse me, but you seem to be on my seat." Marik didn't even budge. Welling up all the courage he had, Ryou took a deep breath and exclaimed; "Excuse me!"
"WHAT!?"
Ryou jumped back, frightened by the outburst that was greater than his. "Y-you're in my seat."
Marik glared at him tiredly then kicked the chair in front of him over. "There's your damned seat...Now goodnight."
Bakura chuckled as the beet-red boy turned the seat over and sat, avoiding the looks from the other students.
'Nice', thought Ryou. 'My first day and I already have an enemy.'
I know it's a short chapter, but re-writing can be difficult...I'm trying!!! So please, read and review!!! All your reviews give us writers our fuel to keep going *_*
