Author's Note: I'm really excited about this fic. I'm not sure how long it'll be just yet. x_x I might cause some of the characters some angst, but don't hate me! I'm not in the mood to cause major damage.
I guess every family has a secret. Small secrets, big secrets, secrets that just make people laugh... Every single family has something that they only trust to keep to themselves. My little family is no exception.
The Mutous look perfect from the outside, right? What could be better than an Egyptologist grandfather almost single-handedly raising a game-crazy grandson who wins nearly everything he's challenged in? A grandson with hair that looks like a Crayola factory explosion, who turns up to be the reincarnation of a Pharaoh... whose soul also just happens to be sealed within an Egyptian treasure?
The prize moneys, awards, titles, fame, fans... Not to mention the uber sexy alter-ego brought back to life by way of ancient magic. Who wouldn't want to live like me? It's all wonderful, isn't it?
Not when you have something to constantly hide.
The paranoia of letting the smallest detail slip and unravel everything is strangling. I hate the fear I feel whenever I go out in public, afraid that everyone who looks at me just knows what I'm hiding. No matter how cold someone is, they can't deny that keeping up a facade is tiring... Plus, the feeling of lying to my closest friends makes me feel like utter crap after all they've done for me. I know it would hurt them to find out that I've been keeping something like this from them all this time. They're practically my family!
I'm not totally hopeless, though. At least I have Jii-chan and Mou Hitori no Boku to share it with. They're two people that I could never hide it from. After all, Jii-chan has been my parental figure through most of my childhood, and Yami-chan shared my body for over a year. Even if I tried, I don't think I could ever keep it from them. It would be pretty impossible. They've known all along.
Do they understand? Yes.
Does it make them uncomfortable? Maybe...
Do they still love me anyway? Of course!
