~*Prologue*~

“Are you sure you don’t want me to stay with you?”

He sighed again. Even if he did love his brother, the raven haired teen certainly could nag when he was worried. “Yes, Mokuba, I’m sure,” Seto repeated for what seemed like the umpteenth time. “Did you double check that you didn’t leave anything? I don’t want you sulking for weeks because you don’t have your ‘House of the Dead 4’ copy anymore.”

A 17 year old Mokuba looked at his brother as if he’d grown two heads. “You know that the first thing I packed were my videogames and consoles.”

‘Of course; how could I forget?’ The brunette refrained from chuckling at the teenager’s priorities, though it didn’t stop him from inquiring further. “School work, books, uniforms, clothes, cell phone…”

Mokuba interrupted him “You know I did, niisama. You even helped me pack, remember? I didn’t leave anything except what I’ve got in my backpack now.” Seto knew that it was true, but he couldn’t help asking. As much as he hated to admit it, he couldn’t deny that their situation wouldn’t be as convenient, so to say, from now on. And that meant less luxuries for both of them for the time being, at least until they were truly settled in their new home, and he could provide for them with the job that he had his eyes on.

Mokuba’s voice derailed him from his train of thoughts. “Now, back to what I was saying… are you _sure_ it’s alright for you to wait for him alone?”

“Of course it is. What’s the worst he could do? Drawl until I change my mind?” Nudging the younger male to the door he added, “Now go on; the cab is waiting for you outside, and it will leave if you don't hurry. Wait for me at the apartment, I won’t take too long.” Mokuba gave his brother an uncertain look, but Seto just stared back at him with his usual confidence, “I’ve got everything under control, Mokuba. Trust me.”

That seemed to do it for the teen, and after saying goodbye, he made his way to the main gate and got into the awaiting cab that would take him to their new home.

Satisfied, Seto went back into the house and sat in one of the living room’s stylish armchairs. Now it was only a matter of waiting. Pegasus’ plane arrived at 5.00 pm; that gave him some time to himself until the older man got to the mansion. God, he hated waiting. He just wanted to get this done and over with.

Looking back on things, it hadn’t been all bad. At least to some extent, meeting Pegasus certainly had been a positive event. After all, having a powerful business man’s lawyers on one’s side would more than help _any_ 21 year old man to win custody over his younger brother.

But, of course, Seto wasn’t so shallow as to only be with the man for that. Sure, the money and luxurious living were an added bonus, but that didn’t deny the fact that he had actually had feelings for Pegasus in the beginning. Not that he had actually loved him, but he’d certainly cared enough about him to indulge in a few of the silver-haired male’s oddities- such as his kink for soft skin, which Pegasus encouraged by lavishing him with gifts of spa visits and skincare products on a regular basis. At first he had found it far too feminine for his tastes; after all, he was a gay man, not a woman. But to his surprise, the added softness to his skin was something he quickly got used to, and though Seto wouldn’t admit it openly, it had become somewhat of a habit to groom himself in such a manner. Apparently though, that token of affection on the brunette’s part hadn’t meant much, if anything, to Pegasus, nor had any other demonstration of his feelings. The bastard had played him in the most unforgivable way, and Seto would never forget that, much less let it pass. No one betrayed him like that and got away with it, not even the owner of Industrial Illusions.

Seto frowned, the memory of what the other had done causing his anger to almost bubble inside. However, his attention was diverted when he heard the sound of the main gate opening, and the subsequent noise of tires on the gravel in front of the steps to the main entrance. Apparently, the wait was over. Moments later, the door swung open, and in came Pegasus, calling out to him after murmuring some words to someone_ probably his loyal right hand man, Croquet.

“I’m home, Seto darling! Where are you, my sweet koi?” The brunet in question now wondered how he had been unaffected by those pet names for so long, especially with the way the millionaire drawled words such as ‘darling’ and ‘sweet’.

Getting up from his chair, he walked to the door leading to the main hall and leaned against its frame, forcing a small smile on his face. “Right here, Maximillion, I’ve been waiting just for you, I really wanted to see you,” came the soft spoken lie. ‘Almost as much as I want to neuter you,’ he thought acidly.

Pegasus, who had been about to head up the staircase in search of his young lover, turned upon hearing Seto’s voice, and walked over to him with open arms. “Oh, my poor love, did you miss me too much?” Pulling Seto to him in a tender hug, he caught the blue eyed man in a deep, slow kiss, which was returned by the younger in order to maintain the façade for a little longer. He didn’t want to make it easy for the bastard. No, he would strike when the other least expected it. “What do you think?” was his only reply.

“I’m sorry I left for so long, but I thought of you all the time… so much, in fact, that I brought you the most wonderful surprise!”

“Surprise?” Seto certainly hadn’t been expecting that. He wondered what that lying bastard had come up with.

“Yes indeed!” Pegasus said cheerfully. “Croquet, did you leave the luggage in our room as I instructed?” The aforementioned employee, who had just descended the stairs, bowed respectfully. “Of course, Sir.”

“Wonderful!” Leading Seto by placing a hand on the small of his back, he headed up to their master bedroom. “Come, come, Love. I just can’t wait another minute to show you.”

Once he reached the room, Pegasus sat on the bed, pulling Seto down with him. “My lovely blue-eyes, I know that leaving you alone for almost a month was very selfish of me, no matter how important that business deal was...” He paused for a second to comb a loose strand of silky hair out of the brunette’s eyes, and then looked straight into those intense pools of blue. “… but you see, it was truly worth it. I realized that I missed you more than ever before, and that my love for you only grows deeper with each passing day, more than I could have ever imagined…”

Seto really hoped that the sorry excuse for romance wouldn’t last much more. Listening to all of those sugar-coated lies not only made him sick, it was also making his anger boil into fury. He was already having trouble maintaining the fake, curious expression on his face, and he had no doubt that his temper wouldn’t last much longer either.

“…and so, that is why I got you this.”

Pegasus left Seto’s side to kneel and open one of the suitcases that had been placed beside the four poster bed. He laid it flat on the floor and opened it, rummaging inside for something. Once he found what he was looking for, he turned around, hiding the ‘so-called’ surprise behind his back. He smiled up at Seto “Hands out and eyes closed, Seto darling, or it won’t be a surprise.”

Biting back a snort at the childish antics of the millionaire, Seto complied. In turn, he felt Pegasus deposit a small package into his hands. It felt soft, like it was covered with velvet.
“Now, open those pretty blue eyes for me, Seto-chan.”

Doing as he’d been told, the brunette looked down at the object on his hands and instantly froze. To his horror, Seto found a small elegant box covered in black velvet proudly laying on his open palm in all its nasty glory. Now growing livid, he hoped against hope that the present did not contain what he thought it did.

Pegasus curled his hand around Seto’s, and kissed the tips of the brunette’s extended fingers. ”Open it, Seto darling, I assure you, you’ll find that what is inside is far more worthwhile than the box itself,” he encouraged in a teasing tone.

Slowly, in dread of confirming his suspicions, he opened the box. There, lying in the middle of the plush interior, was a magnificent engagement ring. It appeared to be made of white gold, with a band that roughly reached a centimeter in width, and between one or two millimeters in breadth, making it look comfortable and sturdy at the same time. The middle portion had a sandblasted finish and sported 6 separated half-carat diamonds, and the rims of the ring had a high polished look. Over all, it was refined and classy_ something that would have suited Seto’s taste perfectly.

Pegasus watched as his ‘soon to be fiancé’s’ eyes, those unique pools of blue, widened in surprise. To his dismay, they then disappeared from sight as the younger bowed his head, hiding his gaze behind silky tresses of chocolate brown hair. Even from his current kneeling position, he couldn’t see Seto’s face clearly. After a couple more moments of silence, Pegasus, considering that to be the expected reaction from his normally quiet lover, stood up and wrapped his arms around Seto’s shoulders, lightly kissing the top of his head. “Aww, I’ve left my koi speechless! I knew you’d love it, and it’s one of a kind, just like my cuddle bunny.”

That infuriating pet name.

That two-faced, lying bastard.

And now, that damned engagement ring, tainted with hypocrisy!

Noticing the slight tremble of the brunette’s body, Pegasus tightened his embrace. “You’re shaking with excitement! It’s the first time I’ve seen you like this. It over-joys me to know that I’ve managed to achieve such a reaction in you, my beloved cuddle bunny.”

“I …” Seto abruptly cut himself off, as if thinking something over.

“Yes, koi?”

“Maximillion, the wedding, it can be held anywhere we wanted, even if it’s not in Domino?”
The question was barely a whisper. Pegasus nuzzled the top of the brunette’s still bowed head.

“Well, of course! You know that _nothing_ is impossible for me when it comes to you.”

“And, I could choose anyone I wanted as the best man?”

“Certainly,” answered the older, even if the term ‘best man’ wasn’t technically right. Seto would pose as the ‘bride’ of the wedding, of course. But, then again, he didn’t know much about gay marriage or the legal terms used for the attendants….he’d have to tell Croquet to look into it.

“But, I can’t decide whom to choose.”

Now that was odd. True, the ‘best man’ could be anyone; that was no concern for Pegasus. But that Seto would have trouble deciding was definitely strange. Wasn’t Mokuba the one and only option he would consider? The brunette wasn’t one for friends; he barely had any acquaintances. So, why would he have trouble choosing? Separating slightly from their embrace, Pegasus looked down at Seto and kept the confusion out of his voice. “Well, … who are you thinking of?”

“You see, I was thinking Furukawa would be a good option…” Pegasus’s eyes widened in shock “…or maybe Takeda might make a better choice?” As he spoke, Seto finally looked up at Pegasus, his expression, in turn, causing the older man let go of him completely. Those eyes, those beautiful pools of sapphire, were filled with uncontained fury, and it was directed solely at him. His voice equally as livid, Seto pushed on. “You know them so ‘well’, after all, so, what do you say?”

“Cuddle bunny, I don’t kno…”

“Shut up! Don’t insult my intelligence by trying to lie to me!” Pushing away violently from the bed, he glared daggers at the gaping businessman. “And don’t ever call me that disgusting pet name again,” he added dangerously. ”Did you think I was that stupid? That I’d never find out you were sleeping around? What kind of dim witted fool do you take me for?”

Following him off of the bed, Pegasus tried to reach for Seto, only to have him put even more distance between them. “You’re overreacting. Let’s sit down and I’ll explain…”

A dry laugh escaped Seto’s lips “Overreacting? You think getting angry because you, the man I’ve been living with for months now, have been sleeping with other people is overreacting?”

“I haven’t slept with anyone other than you, Seto.”

“But you don’t deny being with them,” he stated coldly. “First off, I do not believe that you didn’t sleep with them for one minute. Second, I don’t care if you had wild sex with them, made out, or simply dated. The bottom line is that you cheated on me, and I don’t care what excuses you come up with, we are through” Turning around, the brunette made his way to the door, only to be stopped when his arm was caught in a strong hold.

“What do you mean, ‘through’? You are being irrational. You accuse me, and then just want to leave without even hearing what I have to say?” The mirth and sweetness in Pegasus’ voice were now gone, having been replaced by a serious tone.

“Through means through, I’m leaving, end of discussion. Now let go.” Glaring at his ex-lover when he didn’t release his arm, Seto tugged free from Pegasus’ hold. “I said let GO…and take this back. I don’t want anything to do with it.” Pushing the small velvet box into the older male’s chest, Seto turned around once more, and this time, left the room. Pegasus, having caught the small item before it met the floor, stood there, looking intently at the object in his hand.

Minutes later, Croquet came to stand just outside the bedroom door. He bowed respectfully, his sunglasses hiding the slight nervousness in his eyes. “Sir, I think you should know that the staff has informed me that, during the morning, Mister Seto and Mister Mokuba moved most of their belongings out of the house. The rest, apparently, had been taken away bit by bit without anyone taking notice…that is, until today.” Silence being his employer’s only answer, the man gulped and dared to go on. “What would you have me do, Sir? Should I call security to stop him?”

“No. Now leave.” Knowing his employer well enough to not question his orders, Croquet quickly did as he’d been told.

The grip around the black velvet box tightened. “That….brat! The things he makes me put up with.“ Slowly taking a deep breath, Pegasus relinquished his hold on the small item and set it down on a nearby dresser. “Fine. I’ll let him go then,” he thought as he went about getting ready for a much needed, relaxing shower.

“…and once he’s calmed down, I’ll make him come back to his senses.”
