“Serenity.” Someone yelled through the streets of what was once a city. The second in command of this same group of survivors was a young man about twenty-three years old, and had blond hair and brown eyes. His companions were two brothers, twins, with red, black, and blond hair, and with violet eyes. Another had dark brown hair and brown eyes while another had black hair and green eyes, while the oldest one had brown hair and blue eyes. The last two members of their group were also twins and had white hair and browns eyes.

Joey Wheeler was the second in command, Yugi Muto was Yami’s twin brother and third in command, Yami Muto was the leader of the group, their friends and partners Tristan Taylor and Duke Devlin, Seto Kaiba being the oldest and the badass of the group, and Ryou and his twin brother Bakura. This small group of friends was more than just that. They were like family in these dark times.

Even though Joey didn’t like Seto, they were still friends and would die trying to protect the other if it was needed. Ever since a new type of vampire had begun to take over, it wasn’t really safe anymore. Sure there were the old type of vampires as well, but there were no original vampires left. The oldest and the strongest of the vampires had either died long ago, or were in an eternal sleep.

Yugi had been married for two year now and he and his wife Tea Gardner were going to be having their first child soon. Joey and his wife Mai Valentine were also expecting their first child.

“Where the hell did those fucking bastards take her?” Joey asked out loud. Only an hour ago, Serenity Wheeler, Joey’s young sister had been kidnapped by a small group of vampires who fled deep into the ruins of the city. Since virgins could only be made into vampires, they had taken Serenity for that very reason. Or she would be feed to a powerful vampire as a sacrifice.

“They may have taken her to one of their temples that they build,” replied Duke as he walked up behind Joey. He nodded his head in agreement.

“I think we should split up. It would make looker for her easier you know,” said Seto as he leaned on a wall.

“Alright then,” said Yami as they decided to split into smaller groups. Joey, Tristan, and Duke went one way, Yugi, Yami, and Seto went another, and Ryou and Bakura went another way. The two preferred to work with one another instead of having a third person.

As the group split up, Yugi and Yami were both getting a bad feeling about something. Like some ancient and deadly was about to surface once again.

“Yami, we may want to hurry this up. I’ve got a really bad feeling about all of this,” whispered Yugi. Yami nodded his head in agreement and the three of them started to move a bit quicker.

A young woman about twenty or so was hanging over the shoulder of a vampire. She had gone topside to look at the stairs and the moon that was hanging overhead. She didn’t expect that a pack of vampires was waiting for someone to come up. They had taken her by surprise and she could only get out small scream before they knocked her out.

She had woken up a little while ago, but she was unable to move due to the ropes that she was tied up in. She knew why they wanted her. She was still a virgin and could be turned into one of them. So here she was, a helpless victim about to become what she had feared most of her life.

But she had always wondered why vampires were like the way that they were. Was it because they choose to be evil and drink blood? Or was it something else, something more behind the stories that she had been told as a little girl. She shook her head and held her head up to see where they were.

“Looks like she’s awake,” one said as they stopped for a moment to see that she was awake. They laughed when they saw the look of fear in her eyes.

“This was just too easy. They didn’t even send anyone after her,” said another.

“Let’s rest for a few minutes. WE still got hours before the sun rises, and since we aren’t being chased, we can rest for a few,” one of them suggested the last one. They nodded their heads and decided to sit in a ruin of an old house. They set her down on the floor and did the same thing. But they decided not to sit around her. The only reason they had caught her was because of an order from their master.

Serenity was cold and losing hope that someone was coming to save her anytime soon. But she knew that Joey and the others wouldn’t give up without a fight. That gave her hope.

‘I hope they come soon. I don’t want to be turned into a vampire, or just eaten by one,’ she thought as her hands moved along the ground. She cut herself on a piece of broken glass and got an idea. She picked it up and started to cut the ropes that tied her hands together. She was able to cut it after five or so minutes and started on her feet. Since the three vampires weren’t paying her much attention, she knew that she might be able to get away from them.

When she had cut through the ropes, she slowly got up and headed for a hole in the wall, but just as she was about to make a break for it, one of the vampires turned his head to check on her.

“Hey you little bitch, where the fuck do you think you’re going huh?” he questioned her.

She didn’t answer him as she took off into the city, and tried to lose them as she went. But since she had never been out of their base in the underground, she didn’t have a clue where she was going, and took a lot of wrong turns. But she seemed to have lost them and was glad for that. But it was shot lived since she didn’t know where to go now.

As the hours past, she was getting tired and hungry from running. But she wouldn’t give up. She knew she had to get back to her brother, if she didn’t, then she may be the one they have to hunt down next. As Serenity ran, she heard voices behind her and knew that they had found her.

‘Oh no,’ she thought as she kept running. What she ran into next was a great surprise to her, but also scared her. An old run down cemetery lay before her, and she needed to hid, fast. She knew that whatever she did now, they would find her. They knew her scent and would get her even if she did hide from them. She stopped in front of an old stone building.

‘Maybe if I hide down there they won’t find me since it smells really bad,’ she though as she opened the door to the building and looked inside. Before her was a staircase leading down into a lower area of the building. ‘Must be a grave of something down here.’ Before she had a chance to move, the door behind her was broken open and she was sent falling down the stairs.

“Hey guys, I found the little whore,” she heard him call out. As Serenity hit the floor, she thought about her brother and the training her had taught her to keep her safe, But that didn’t do her much good down here. And she knew she couldn’t take on three vampires at once. She wasn’t good enough for something like that.

She stood up and looked around the dark place. As she walked forward, a light appeared to the right and left of her. She was surprised at first, but she knew of things like this. She had heard stories of old ruins holding magic and curses to keep people out, or help them. Since a torch had been lit, she figured it was a place where something important lay dead.

As she continued to walk, more torches lit up around her. “This is one long corridor if you ask me.” When she got to the end of the corridor, all she could do was gasp in amazement. Before her was a large room with a black marble coffin at the very back.

“Is this a vampires’ coffin?” she wondered. Curiosity getting the better of her, she walked to the coffin and tried to lift the lid. But it wouldn’t budge an inch. She sighed and sat down in front of it with her back to it. “So much for that I guess.” But when she was about to close her eyes, something caught her attention. A lever was on the far side of the coffin, and was covered in cobwebs.

She decided that since she was here and nothing better to do then wait, she got back up and walked over to the lever. She pushed it down, and with a hiss, the coffin lid lifted up. She looked inside and had to stifle a scream. She never knew that vampires could become corpses. She though that once they were killed, they turned into dust. But as she examined it, she could tell that it was indeed, a vampire. She could see the fangs that were in his mouth, and ran her finger of them. Blood form her cut hands dripped onto the corpse, and she pulled her hand back when she heard the three vampires behind her.

“The boss didn’t say we couldn’t hurt her did he?”

“Nope. He said that he wanted her alive, and a virgin when he got her.”

“Have at her man, but don’t hurt her to much.” The leader nodded and started to walk towards her, but stopped a moment later. Serenity didn’t know why he had stopped since she had closed her eyes, but opened them after a moment. She felt a presence behind her and slowly turned around to come face to face with what was once the corpse that was lying in the coffin.

The vampire in front of her took her breath away. He was handsome beyond compare, and his eyes were so lovely. They were a lovely shade of lavender that she had ever seen. His hair was almost whit and his skin was pale like any vampires. He had blood dripping from his mouth and that’s when she remembered that it must be from her cuts hands.

She fell to the ground when he jumped out of the coffin and landed in front of her. She noticed that he was wearing all black, and had a trench coat on that was blood red on the inside, and black as night of the outside. On each of his hands, he wore a pair of white cloves. He turned to her and kneeled down to eye level with her. Brown eyes met lavender and all she could do was stare at him. A light smile spread across his face as he caressed her face lightly.

A shiver went down her spine as he touched her face. She had no idea if it was from how cold this place was, or his touch. Even though he had cloves on, it felt good.

“I thank you my lady for wakening me from my slumber,” he said to her as he stood up and turned to face the three vampires. Serenity watched as he walked half way across the room and stopped when he did. “Why do you chase this girl?”

“Our master wants her for himself. He didn’t tell us why he did, he just said to get this girl,” the leader said as he pointed a finger at Serenity.

“I can not have that. It’s time punks like you know their place in this world,” the vampire said darkly to the other three. Serenity had to pull her legs close and wrap her arms around herself.

‘Did it suddenly get colder in here?’ she asked herself as she watched the vampire stand up to the other three.

“Who the fuck do you think you are pal?” one asked. The vampire smirked and turned his attention to him.

“My name is Marik Ishtar,” he said as he lifted his arm and pulled a sword from out of nowhere. “I’m one of the most ancient vampires you’ll eve face.”

Joey and the others had met up again in the same cemetery that Serenity was in, but they didn’t know it at the time. As they walked through the rows of grave stones, they all stopped at an ancient stone building with its down broken and kicked in.

“I bet she’s in there,” said Joey as he ran for it and down the stairs.

“Let’s follow him. No telling what might be down there.” The others followed their friends down into the building. As they met up with Joey, they saw that torches had been lit to light the way somewhere. They shrugged and headed down the long corridor, weapons ready to defend themselves if necessary. What they saw, wasn’t something they had expected to see.

The three vampires that had taken Serenity were fighting what seemed to be another vampire hunter. He was dressed in black, minus his cloves and the insdie of his coat, and had hair that was almost white. But when they looked closer, they could tell he was a vampire. They could see his fangs when he laughed when one of the other vampires attack missed him, and they saw how pale his skin was.

“There’s Serenity guys,” Tristan yelled to the others. All actions stopped between the vampires, and the others turned to see that Serenity was hugging her legs to her body, and shivering because of how cold it was in the room.

Marik stopped the fight and turned to the girl sitting by his coffin. His eyes were wide in either shock or amazement. He dropped his sword to the ground and kneeled in front of the woman.

“What’s he doing?” asked Joey. They shrugged since they didn’t have a clue. Serenity was also surprised at Marik’s actions, but didn’t do anything but stand up.

“I have been waiting for you for over five thousand years my lady,” he began. Confusion took on a whole new meaning before he continued to explain. “It was said long ago that a young female woman would join with a vampire to save this world, and the other humans in it, or destroy it an every human. I have slept for a long time to wait for this moment.”

Marik stood up and walked over to the confused girl and took his hands in hers. Before anyone in the room could say or do anything, Marik pressed his lips to hers in a gentle chaste kiss. Serenity couldn’t help but be drawn into the kiss that he was giving her. The others had to hold Joey back from doing something he would regret later.

Marik pulled away a few minutes later and looked deep into her eyes. A small smile was on his face as he looked down at her. When Serenity finally realized that she had been kissed, and it had been her first kiss, she blushed madly and held her head down. Marik chuckled lightly, but was stopped when a thirty or forty pieces of metal impacted his body.

“I got the son of a bitch,” yelled one of the vampires. True enough, Marik had been hit with every piece of metal that had been thrown at him. His eyes widen and he heard Serenity scream at of sheer terror. His blood covered her face and body, while one of his arms had been cut off.

“Serenity, get the fuck out of there now!” yelled Joey as he was still being held back. Marik fell forward and hit the ground with a thud. Serenity was too paralyzed to move from her spot when she was grabbed behind and was once again being carried away. Joey and the others tried to stop them, but they shot a hole in the ceiling and jumped through it.

“Fuck. We won’t be able to catch them in time,” Joey screamed as he saw his sister taken away once more. The all run back through the corridor, but if they had only stayed a second or two longer, they would have heard the amused laugh echoing through the room as it went dark.

Serenity was thrown to the ground when they landed and kicked in the ribs by the leader.

“Stupid little bitch. If the boss didn’t need you alive, I’d have raped and killed you by now,” the leader growled in frustration.

“We should go man. Those hunters will come after us, and sunrise will be coming up in a few hours.” He nodded his head and was about to pick up Serenity when he was stopped by a sword going through his heart.

“You really are a sad bunch of low level vampires aren’t you?” said a familiar voice from the dark. The vampire turned to dust before his fellow vampires, and the sword dropped to the ground with a clung.

“Where the fuck did that come from?” all three looked up when they heard a laugh coming from one of the taller buildings in the graveyard. A pair of glowing lavender eyes met their gazes, and froze them all. They could see nothing but an eternaty of darkness and sorrow in those glowing orbs. Serenity stood up but was held in place by one of two remaining vampires.

“If you don’t let us go, this little bitch dies, got it?” he yelled out to the dark figure. An insane laugh was his answer as the figure vanished from where it was. Serenity looked in front of her to see that Joey and the others had found them.

“Let go of her,” he said to the vampire holding her, but he only held her tighter, which caused her to wince in pain.

“Not a chance in hell,” was his answer as the two vampires started to back up with Serenity as a hostage.

“Bad move you fool,” someone called from the dark. All of a sudden, the light form the moon disappeared and there was scream and a gunshot. When the light did come back, the two vampires were dust piles and Serenity was in the arms of her saver. Joey looked at his sister who had passed out and the one holding her. His breath caught in his throat as he did so.

“That’s not possible. Not even one of the most powerful vampires of this age could stand up to something like that and live,” said an amazed Joey as he walked forward to take his sister from the vampire. To his surprised, Marik gave her up without a fight and was smiling at him.

“That’s true, but I’m not from this time,” all eyes turned to him to see what he meant. "I'll explain more later. But right now. We should leave this place."
