Chapter One: Truths and Lies
"What?! What the hell happened Seto?!" yells Jou as he stands in front of Kaiba.
"I'm about to go to jail. I don't know when or if I'll get out."
"Wait a minute. Aren't you Seto Kaiba?! You should be able to get out of this no
problem!"
"Katsuya...I'm living a lie."
"A lie?! What do you mean?! Did you cheat on me?! Kill someone?!"
"If it was as simple as that."
"Seto. Tell me!"
Jou wipes the tears from his eyes as he is afraid to hear what his lover of 4 years has to say.
"Katsuya. My entire life is a lie. It went downhill after KaibaCorp closed. Sorry to drag
you to hell with me."
"No! I love you Seto! I just want to be with you!"
"Tell Kiyo how much I love him." says Kaiba as he fights oncoming tears.
"What am I supposed to tell him? You know that Naoki and I don't get along."
"Tell Kiyo his father...loves him no matter what."
"Seto! Why are you going to jail?!"
"I'm finally caught. After 9 years. I'm caught and I have to pay the price."
"That isn't answering my question Seto!"
Jou lifts Kaiba's head. For the first time Jou had ever seen, Kaiba showed fear on his
facial features and his physical actions.
"It must be something really bad Seto...whatever it is, I'll love you always thoughout. I
don't care if they give you life in jail without parole, I'll never find another lover. You
are the only one for me."
Kaiba shakes his head, not wanting to hear what Jou was saying to him.
"No! Katsuya! You don't understand! I've been lying to you! I've been lying to
Domino City! I've been lying to the world!"
"I don't want you because you're a liar... I want you because you're the only one
for me. Everyone makes mistakes Seto."
"Not like the one I've been making for the past 9 years. I knew I was going to get
caught someday. Katsuya, I'm a fake."
Jou looked at his lover confused. Not knowing what 'I'm a fake.' really meant.
"You're not a fake. You're genuine. Real. Authentic. My lover for life."
"Katsuya, I'm going to jail for fraud."
"Fraud?! What...what do you mean 'fraud'?!"
"KaibaCorp went bankrupt 11 years ago after my father died. We paid top dollar to keep
it out the media."
"No..."
"I didn't want to back down my lifestyle and I have to pay. So I've been selling drugs and
doing fake deposits to my account from KaibaCorp."
"Nani?! I thought you were going to work everyday!"
"I was. To make money. The money I made from the drugs got deposited from KaibaCorp
in order to cover what I was doing. Each and everyday I would live in risk and chance,
hoping, praying that I wouldn't get caught."
"How did you get caught?!"
"K9 Police Unit. I was speeding down the interstate and got pulled over. The police dog
went crazy and found the drugs I was taking to one of my clients in Tokyo."
"So those were the 'business trips'?"
"Yea....they were. I'm sorry Katsuya. I didn't mean for it to end this way. I want you to
go on and live your life. Find yourself a lover. One who is much more of a man than I
ever will be."
Jou watches as Kaiba drops his head then begins to walk over to the police who are
waiting for him with handcuffs. Before the police put the handcuffs on him, Jou grabs
him and kiss him.
"Cut it out and come on Mr. Kaiba." one of the officers says as he pulls Kaiba out
of Jou's arms.
"I'm sorry, Katsuya." whispers Kaiba as the police put him in the back of the car.
"I love you Seto!" yells Jou as he watches the car disappear around the corner.
He drops to his knees and cries.
"Seto!! Seto!! Why?!"
