Chapter One: I Saw You!
Kagome sighed as she picked her way through the thick trees of Inu-Yasha’s Forest. It was nearing lunchtime, and he knew it. ‘Why’d he run off like that?’ she wondered. As she approached the clearing of the God Tree, she saw a flash of white on red. She also heard loud voices. ‘Inu-Yasha and Kikyo!’ she realized. ‘Oh God no! Why of all people does it have to be Kikyo?’
She tried to tear herself away, run for it. But her feet were glued to the spot. She couldn’t force herself to move. Part of her mind found it important to hear the conversation. So silently, she stepped forward and peered through the trees.
“Inu-Yasha?”
“Yes Kikyo?”
“Who do you love?”
“Eh? Whadda ya mean who do I love?”
“Who is it you’re in love with, my reincarnation or I?”
“Uh, y-you I suppose.”
“I see.”
Kikyo leaned forward and embraced him. “I love you,” she whispered. Inu-Yasha brought her face to his and kissed her softly. “No.” Kagome couldn’t help the word that escaped her lips. Inu-Yasha looked her way, and she ducked just in time.
Turning away she ran through the trees sobbing. “Why!” she cried. “Why Kikyo?” When she returned to Kaede’s, no one was in the hut. “Good,” she sighed grabbing her backpack. Kagome darted out quickly before a villager could spot her.
At the well she stopped. “Should I ever come back?” she asked herself. In response, she shook her head. “Screw this era! I’m going back to my normal life!” She tore the shards off her neck, and threw them to the ground. At that point she didn’t care who found them, Naraku, or the group. As she jumped in she muttered angrily. “And I’m having Grandpa seal the well!”
