Fun With Fondu
Seto watched as the cook stirred the chocolate in the double boiler. He reached around her, throwing in a few large squares of a dark chocolate. She playfully smacked at his hand.
"Master Seto! I cook, you watch. No more surprises, you hear?" She clucked her tounge playfully. "You go sit with Joey now."
Joey heard his name and looked up from the table where he was finishing his homework. Tomorrow was a rare day from school so Seto had planned a sleep-over for one of their friend's birthdays.
Supper was to be simple, but the highlight of the night was to be the fondu. Seto's choice had been to make it Choloate Fondu and have various fruits and cookies to dip into it. The cook took the boiler off the heat and turned to start slicing various fruits like peaches, apricottrawtrawberries, pineapple and kiwi. She stirred the chocolate a few times after she finished arranged the fruit on platters. The butler appeared in the door and waited politely for Seto to notice him. When he was acknoledged, he spoke.
"Master Seto, your guests have arrived and are waiting in the sitting room." He gave a small bow then left the room.
Seto and Joey rushed to the sitting room to greet their friends. Joey hadn't seen his friends except for school, as he liked to spend what little quality time he and Seto got alone.
Yugi and Yami were standing by the fireplace when Joey rushed into the room first. His friends turned and smiled at him.
"I see that old scrooge finally let you have friends over." Bakura joked, his normally hateful features softened into a sembalance of a smile. "That must not be often that you are let out of the dog pen."
Joey bristled, but Ryou caught Bakura's arm and forced him to sit on the couch.
"Yami, be nice! Seto's neither old, nor a scrooge. Who paid your bail after that run in with Grandpa Moto?" Bakura growled, but accepted Ryou's gentle warning. "I'm sorry about him, Joey."
"Ah, it' s no problem, he'll never change." Joey smiled as Seto entered the room.
"So, Scrooge, what's for supper? Moldy bread crumbs and stagnant water?"
"No, Bakura, I only save that for really crabby guests and bad dogs. By the way, your steak's still outside mooing." Everyone in the room laughed. Bakura was known for the way he liked his steaks. "Everyone else's steaks are ready to be grilled."
The group filed through the kitchen, and inhaled the scent of dark chocolate and exotic fruits...
