This is absolutely wonderful!! One of the best and most detailed fics I've ever come across. I couldn't stop reading! You captured Mai and Joey's personalities so well. Looking forward to reading more of your works!!

Tbh, I'm actually pretty shocked that this story doesn't have more reviews because it's spectacular. I love the fact that this story is centered around these two! The way you've written both Joey, Mai, hell all of the characters was spot on. Not to mention the fact that the smut was HOT. I would definitely say that this is without doubt my fave Jou/Mai fanfic to date, and in my top tier of best Yugioh romance fanfics. You're an incredible writer, not sure if you're planning to continue with this fic - but either way, I'll be on lookout for more chapters! :)

That's what I am.
Not only do i find a fic (ANY type of fic!) with Mai in it, I find one in cannon and written beautifully! I'm not sure what i did to deserve such a treat, but I'm delighted.
You read the manga, which earns you a super star (I am SO tired of anime elitists in fics...) and managed to insert one of the past books int he story in a beautiful and relevant way.
Your OC was fine, even if, as you said, she wasn't needed. She evidently wasn't some sort of dream version of you (at least, i hope not!!!) and she didn't hog the spotlight or appear unessissarily, which is all that matters...
I have to give you even MORE credit for your soapbox about Mai's character. I'm a character designer for comics by profession- previously for cartoons before the Australian division of the conglomerate i worked for shut down (I won't point fingers, But it was THE most godforsaken, soul stripping place and artist can ever be, despite it's internationally fluffy image)and you hit the nail on the head. And the nail was TINY.
People tend to hate complicated characters/characters with preconceived, strong personalities. They like blank, bland templates that can be easily moulded to their own personalities. That's why heroes tend to be so boring. Look at both Yuugi and Atem. They have their good and bad qualities, yes, but they're really just blank templates.
Then look at the most complicated characters in the series, Mai, Otogi and (believe it or not) Pegasus- and you're looking at the three most loathed and mocked characters in the series.
Anyway, excuse my professional babble. I'm lucky enough to work doing something I'm passionate about, and I tend to waffle XD

I just wanted to let you know that I truly enjoyed this fic. It is not too often that I can find a heterosexual lemon anymore, especially of this great underrated pair. I think the reason I love this fic and the couple is because it has been blatantly obvious that they are attracted to each other and they are repressing it.
You stayed true to their chemistry and Joey’s insecurities. The fact that Mai is a woman and not a girl, a well to do woman at that, and he comes from the “other side of the tracks” so to speak. That was not a subject that could be ignored though many authors choose to do that for whatever reason, like for example I have read many fics where they make Mai a high school student (big mistake) it takes away from their taboo relationship and the friction they may have in repressing there lust/love for each other.
I also love how you have Tristan upset about Joey getting caught up with her again. It gives Joey’s feelings for this woman depth. After everything they had been through together or everything she put him through, he still couldn’t stop his feelings for her. It must have been painful and from Tristan’s reaction I would imagine there were many nights of Joey pouring his heart out to either Tristan or Yugi about it.
You can just feel Joey’s anguish , especially after watch “waking the dragons”. I like that you didn’t ignore these facts in the anime but decided to elaborate on them. All and all I thank you for this fic. It was well written , it was heart felt, it was sexy and it stayed true to the characters. Thank you and I hope you would write more on this couple and please feel free to email me I would love to talk to you and collaborate on any ideas you may have.

Finally a JouMai fiction.
I couldn't agree more, it's really hard to find a decent one here in the YGO section which is mostly made up of Yaoi (like nearly every big section). Maybe it's because there are much more female authors... but anyways your fiction was really good and longer then other, mostly one-shot, fics. You showed a passion between them, that was a bit different from the usual fluff, but still managed to to make it more than a one-night-stand fic.
Please keep up the good work, as it is a small light of hope here on aff.net for the Mai/Jou fans ^^

man, i had so many good, insitefull things to say in this review, unfortunately the end of the story has reduced me to high pitched squeeks and awww's.
um *gathers thoughs* oh yeah! that was an awesome story and i totally agree that there should be more joey/mai stories and am always keeping my eye out for them. I liked yours :D it was adorable, keeping true to the characters and their personalities and exploring the relationship. and i loved the humorous moments. especially Seto looking slightly sick and commenting about no longer being hungry after mai distracted joey with a kiss. that cracked me up. hurray for another Seto addict :D anyways, it's late and this is getting rambly but i just wanted to let you know that i loved the story and thanks for helping fill the joey/mai gap! maybe i'll write one too after i finish my epic :p

Loved it. And yes M/J is a VERY underrated pairing!!! But my fave YGO pairing is... (insert dramatic music here) TRISTAN AND SERENITY!!! The MOST underrated couple of all!!!
I don't do yaoi in NO form or FASHION!!! I agree with the other reviewer, I also hate Kaiba and was immensely pleased when Mai and Jou fucked on his table. They should've came on the dishes, and made him eat from the plates.
Okay, that's mean.
But then again so is he.
But anyway I really enjoyed this story, like all of your other stories!!

WOW! It's really hard to find any JounouchiXMai fics on this site let alone a good one. Why the hell this site is plauged with yaoi I have no clue. I am rather appaled by it just as I am appalled by the numerous KaibaXJounouchi fics.( The two despise each other in the anime. )I CONDEMN the KaibaXJou pairing. It disgusts me (particularly since I am a die hard PolarShipper and I hate Kaiba)
but more to the point. I really enjoyed this story. The way Jounouchi is unsure of where he and Mai are going until the end of it, as well as Mai's uneasiness, and her weakness of telling Jounouchi what he means to her.
Also enjoyed Honda's bitterness towards Mai.
