I'm shocked that this fic has so few reviews. The characterization is amazing, the story is above average and the plot points are interesting. I think that readers are not giving this story enough credit. I like Hopes and Fears very much and eagerly await the next chapter.

I've really enjoyed reading Hopes and Fears. The way you characterize Jounouchi and I so enjoy the interaction between Shizuka and Jounouchi. They're so cute when they're doing the sibling thing. I feel that your Seto is a bit stilted though. I'm not sure of his dialogue. I feel that it should be less insulting and more colder and stoic as he is older and supposedly wiser. But that's just me talking. Great story, looking very forward to the next part.

Dialogue heavy --> nah. It was needed here to flesh out the characters, esp. Jou's sister.

The flashback scenes worked pretty well in showing the conflicts and bad choices made by Jou, Mia and Seto.

This story is so complex and deep. Plot with just enough to tease! I love it! Please continue.

SCREW THE OTHER FICS...THIS IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS! I think you're doing a really great job so far; you can't go wrong when it's a Jou/Seto fic! I just love it when Jou can shock Seto; PRICELESS! Anyhoo, update soon and keep up the good work!

I like this story so far. I also thought it was very funny when you mentioned Yuki, because he was the first one I thought of when you read about Jou in the first few paragraphs. I sure hope you won't make Seto act like Shuichi though, haha.

As for who started the whole drunk father thing, it was Kazuki Takahashi. In the manga (volume 2 I think) Honda stops by at Jounouchi's place, because he hasn't seen him in a while. Jou's dad trows a beer bottle at Honda's head (he think it's Jou, probably.) Jou also mentions (at least in the anime... Japanese version, so I'm guessing it'll be in the manga too) that he has to work so he can pay for his fathers drinking and gambling depths.

Ah, sorry about that last bit in my previous review. I hadn't noticed you had already another chapter up. ^^; (About Anzu: she's pretty cool in the manga though. I hated her at first too, but I then bought a couple manga (8 so far ^^;;; ) and I started to like her character. She's not that much of a push-over as the (American version?) anime makes her appear.)

I hope to read the next chapter too. I am curious what will happen next.
